No one ever wants to admit it at the time it's happening, but hiring interim head coaches for the permanent position ends in massive failure 9/10 times (probably even more).
Terrible take. Only bad franchises operate on a 1 year cycle for their coaches/GMs. Ravens, Chiefs, Steelers, Packers are all stable with people that have been in the building for a long time and all perineal playoff contenders
@SuperOmnicronsj44 the raiders used to run that way. After about 85 something changed. Probably after the first art shell firing. We hardly made the playoffs in the 90s until gruden came in. Then he goes to Tampa after the tuck rule season, we lose to Tampa in the next super bowl (still basically grudens buid) and Callahan can't stay consistent after all our talent left. That was also when the game really started changing. Since then we haven't been able to draft a good qb outaide derick carr (say what you want, he had us winning more than we had in years), haven't had good free agent qbs, and since Callahan we haven't kept a coach more than 2-3 seasons or a GM. And that all started with AL. What mark needs to do is do his own thing, not worry about his dad's image of the franchise. He's not a football guy like AL. He obviously sees that and k ows that was his dad's strength. But the franchise needs to move out of the past. The steelers and packers change with the game and the times, but are able to keep their mystique and history relevant and intact
The fallacy in the argument about Bo Nix is that the experts were just flat out wrong about him. Kid had a 68 air yd td and fans were told they were wrong about him because he couldn’t throw the ball down field. We were right. They were wrong.
Hondo couldn't give a rats ass to what Johnny has to say. Half the time he's appears to not even listen. You can tell by the way he re-engages incorrectly back into the conversation at times. I've been watching Hondo a long time, and it's clear he's in love with himself.
What happens if the next coach hired by Brady only wins 3-4 games their first year? Do the Raiders fire them, and if not why? Why does the new coach get a long leash and multiple years to figure things out but AP was fired after the first year? If AP was that bad of a coaching candidate why did Mark Davis waste everybody’s time in hiring him? These are the questions I’d like answered.
AP was hired because of the replacement of Rich Bissacia. He gave you Raider fans what you wanted, it was a TERRIBLE hire. That’s why you don’t hire on emotions
@@RaiderBenI agree with you Ben, my point is Mark Davis is a terrible owner who wasted everyone’s year hiring someone who most Raiders fan definitely wanted, but had no business being a HC. I have zero faith Davis or Brady will figure anything out this franchise is trash
3-4 wins is unacceptable. This franchise will not tolerate that type of performance. First year HC must win a minimum of 7 games. Anything less is not good enough. How many 4 win season does Reid have? Tomlin? Harbaugh?
@@coreykuhl3079so then you agree if the next HC hired wins 3-4 games even if it’s Ben Johnson then he should also be fired first year, right? If not, why?
Would you guys still want Ben Johnson if he said he prefers a pocket passer such as Goff = AOC and he wanted to build through trenches and RB in the first rounds? I still say yes for the play calling even though it means no qb
Raiders #1 priority after hiring their coach/GM…… quarterback. Nobody is winning anything consistently with a sub quarterback behind center in Aiden 😏🏴☠️🏈
@@ScottSweaty Especially in that division. Look at the HCs and QBs around the Raiders. They know they have to be competitive at the QB position to at least have a chance to compete in the neighborhood
@@ScottSweaty it just never goes like we want it to go. Dream coach and a new QB is a lot to ask for and we need oline and RB too. We will mess this up somehow. I’ll be glad to be wrong though
@@dragonfruitkush Problem is, when you have a chance at a proven , veteran HC like John Harbaugh a year ago & you don’t even bring him in for an interview, speaks volumes about the ineptitude of the owner. At least Brady/Seymour are there now this offseason and not F”n around. If this franchise truly is set on true ing itself around instantly and a full culture change , then they have to do their due diligence this time and give Pete Carroll a thorough look at bringing him in. Great analysis Hondo. A bunch of guys you trust said Nix wasn't worth it so despite him having a great rookie season, he stinks. That is the idiots mentality of the NFL on display right there.
Hondo such a odd ball anytime he’s listening to someone he’s putting his fingers all over his face or looking down like he has no interest and rocking back and forth 😂
I shaved off the beard. The hair is a bit of an unimpressive wild card. In the middle of the southern snow storm, it was largely forgotten, in and out of a ski hat
Mark Davis gave himself cover. put Brady as the decision maker. Be the true upfront fan for his team. He has championships from the Aces, but bring it with the Raiders, totally different level of accomplishment and success
Gosh - Hondo is so bad. Reminds me of that guy at work that's still around only because he's been there for decades and has some relationships. No insight at all.
As a fan, I personally don't like all the new on field tech stuff, the game looks generic, fake, the field looks fake, even the noise of the crowd sounds phony. I miss the mud and grass stains on the players, after Covid this was very noticeable.
I'm with you on the look and feel of the game, but I haven't minded the quick reviews and some tech already in the game. I think they will advance wisely
They didn’t wrong thing for hiring pierce because now Brady wants bellichcik and he no longer available. They just learned there lesson on ap after he wasn’t able to coach as he needs to with the help of experienced coaches around him. It’s just fans wouldn’t have wanted bill after Josh for patriot way which we shoulda just stood up to the fans and brought in bill or an Carol last year
Raiders have been a joke for 20+ years and they will continue to suck for 20 more. They can never seem to hire the right people. There is always continual drama for absolutely no reason every single season. It starts at the top and until mark completely sells the team, it will be the same story every single year. It’s such a waste of time putting so much effort into a team only to be disappointed every year with the shit product put on the field.
Of course, but we do a weekly show that's Around the NFL, but from a Raider centric approach. So this one should literally be more talk about all other teams and league issues than any show on the channel all week
Gruden should not be a head coach. Game has passed him by. Him and McDaniels, decent between twenties and on 1st and 2nd down. Terrible in red zone, goal line, and on 3rd and 4th down. Those are the downs that make winners. Their schemes were boring and incapable of creating openings and mismatches in tight spaces. Coaching is SOOOOO important to creating success and we have wallowed in coaching ineptitude for almost 2 decades now. And lest we drop it all on Mike Davis, Al Davis was just as terrible or worse in franchise decision making than Mark has been. I don't believe Mark is seeking to constantly have his hands in the cookie jar. In fact, I believe he wants to give it to someone else and have them run with it. He has tried a whole bunch of counselors and those people have not given him the right advice. Hopefully, this time around the Brady Effect will create different results.
Players/staff choosing LV, NV because of no state tax is straight economics
That loser said not hiring Bissacia was a bad move. Credibility lost instantly
No one ever wants to admit it at the time it's happening, but hiring interim head coaches for the permanent position ends in massive failure 9/10 times (probably even more).
That was probably the right move at that time. And had he flopped in year one, they would've moved on from him then. That was also years ago now
