- My cover of "Hurt" from NIN. Trent Reznor has been a hero of mine for many years. Musically no one has ever consistently inspired me. From the first song I heard until the most current piece he has released I’ve found tremendous inspiration and escape in his work. When we covered this years ago on the day Johnny Cash passed away it helped me find a voice for myself. It made me realize you don’t have to have a technical and trained voice to sing with heart.
I don’t consider myself a lead singer in fact, but I do believe what I sing. I believe the words and feel the pain, happiness and relief when I sing.

I fucking love it! I’ve grown up hearing Clint do backup vox for Lajon and the guys, but never really got to hear him do his thing solo. Some ppl may not like the autotune, but...fuck em. I don’t think it was to cover any mistakes, just a stylistic choice. I love that you’re doing these covers and I’m glad I found your channel. Awesome man! Keep doing things YOUR way, screw the criticism.

When people ask me who my favorite singer is, I say "Clint Lowery." Yea, over Lajon, Myles, etc in the same genre. I'm sure even Clint would think I'm crazy, but my "favorite voice" can't be measured by any sort of technical ability... it's just pure aesthetic. He was gifted with smooth, smokey pipes hah. It's sort of like how Kiefer Sutherland inherited his father's (Donald) unique voice. I'm glad Clint was able to harness his genetic powers. :)

Man, there's just too much autotune. I mean, this song allows you to be scruffy. Why would you ruin it with software pitch?
Because he wants it to sound that way. I get where you’re coming from, because it’s very obvious that this is auto-tuned, but it gives the vocal a certain style. Give the guy a break, this is a cover, he can interpret it as he wishes.
If you want to hear it exactly as NIN done it, then go over there to listen. Covers are meant to be tributes, which is the artist giving thanks in their style.
Autotune is an effect as well as an app for correction. I like it - it adds an element of spooky to this song.
