- Pakistan is a young country with an ancient civilization,this I have said multiple times, but in our journey of discovering and rediscovering who we are, we have parted many times, one such parting was in 1971 when Pakistan lost more than half of itself. This Episode remembers that history through its culinary culture which was and remains as part of our food heritage. Chakma is a Buddhist Kingdom in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, now Bangladesh, former East Pakistan, whose Raja chose Pakistan in 1971. Raja Tridev Roy chose Pakistan and today ,Pakistan on a Plate, honours his choice, his sacifice by including his people's cuisine as ours forever. Documenting our culinary cuisines should be comprehensive and our past and who we were is as important as who we are and plan to become. I hope you enjoy this episode, I did ,and learned alot about wonderful recipes which reflect the varied and beautiful produce of rich South Asia. I would like to thank my friend Troya for sharing these precious recipes with us.

They are selfish raja , they left their people to suffer and they are living there life ,not even caring how their people doing
I appreciate they still Preserved our Tradition & Culture. And your effort to Show and explain about our Community. But it will not be Proper to mention Tridev Roy as "THE CHAKMA KING". He don't deserve to have that Title as not a single person of our community entitle him as a King. A king is one who makes every effort to safeguard his People & work for the betterment of the community. But he was just a puppets of Pakistan Government. He left his people behind to suffer. And because of him we The Chakma Community are still suffering through out the World. He did not stand with his people in need. And went/Ran away to safe his Skin. Therefore he is not Our King.
I was wondering same thing, that he is called king and on the other hand he flew to Pakistan. Thank you for the information.
He was in Pakistan when the separation of Bangladesh occurred
So he can't return to his homeland because he was a minister in Bhutto government he stuck in Pakistan than He send his friend to rescue his wife and younger son
They were rescued and at that time the tribe was surrounded by Bangladesh army
So he had no choice or power at that moment

He was Brave King when the accident of Bangladesh occurred He was in Pakistan and can't go back to his tribe because He was a friend of Pakistan and Bangladesh selected him as it's enemy.He was a minister in Bhutto government
Than He sent his friend to rescue his wife and younger child because at that time Bangladesh army surrounded his tribe and He was no power or possibility to help his people
Also that time was a hatred time between Pakistan and Bangladesh
Actually the partition worsen all the situation and the King stuck in Pakistan.

Hello, sabarang has no connection to jackfruit. Jackfruit is a fruit, Sabarang is a herb which gives aroma to the curry. Sabarang is related to thai basil if at all there needs to be comparison.

It's so funny since when the name Roy became a chakma name that too a title for a king, the real chakma king died a long time ago and these clowns who once just happens to be some kind of Dewan at real chakma king's court are now claiming to be the chakma king (Indeed they are not) If I come faced with these people who so claim to be chakma king(royal family) I will definitely dirty my hands. FYI: The last descendent of the chakma royal family was Khalindi Rani and she had no descendent so the end of the royal family.
