Great demo video. I like how you talked wile playing, real allows us to get a proper volume this thing is capable of. Overall just a great video. Thanks!
Fantastic sounding guitar, great for fingerpicking and it really booms with chords. I’ve got a 000-15M and the shorter scale makes it ring. Nice playing as ever Nick.
This is what all guitar reviews should be. Well done! Different genres of music, finger picking and pick picking - really put the guitar through its paces. Bought one 3 days ago. Can't put it down
I like the looks and sound of this 16m model and the fact that they use a spruce top (Adirondack) and rosewood back and sides is a plus. However, IMO the price is still very high for what you get. Sadly, I have been all over Washington state and have not found a single 16m to try out only the 15's and 15m street-master's. One last comment, I have played many of the 15's and 15m's and was not impressed, they all sounded o.k. but every one of them I tried out (4) needed a major set up. Also, the action (after the set up) on all those 15's and 15m's I tried out were still way too high to be enjoyable. Just my 2 cents worth. Peace.
15 series is mahogany top, back, and sides. 000-16 is Adirondack top and rosewood back and sides. The Streetmaster series are satin finish, worn down styling, lightweight, and vibrant. Great for fingerpicking and flat picking
@@Gerrysjamz VTS is Martin's term for a torrefied top. In short, as wood ages it sounds better because it dries out and the structure of the wood changes a bit. Different companies approach the torrefaction process differently and are usually a little secretive about what they do exactly.
Sounds about right, the 000-16 is a lightly built guitar perfect for fingerpicking or light playing, heavier strumming might be suited to the D-15M Streetmaster
Why are the opinions of this guitar so controversial across the forums? Some folks love and some say they do not like it at all, not just the look but the sound, especially compared to 000-15m. I tried both 000-15m and 000-16sm in store, and 000-15m sounded great, but I wished more overtones, 000-15m had to few, much more fundemantals and little overtones. I just got pulled to 000-16sm as a magnet, even compared it to Taylors of American Dream series, 000-18 Martin, it did not do it to me. So I got the 000-16sm. But it still puzzles me why opinions about this guitars are kind of split into two camps - lovers and haters.
I personally think it’s the strings and tuning. Some guitars I’ve tried only sound good when perfectly tuned and nice new strings. I received a J45 deluxe rosewood and it sounded bad until perfectly tuned. My mahogany guitars I can get by easier. The setup can affect sound/tone too from what I have experienced.
How does this compare to the CEO-7? I’m guessing the 7 sounds and plays much better? The only downside I see is the high gloss finish on the 7, which I’m not a fan of.
I will have a sit down with the two and do a comparison and get back to you tomorrow! CEO-7 will be higher grade in general but I would say they play as well as each other, minus the V-neck if you prefer a modern low profile neck shape
I'll be sending mine back tomorrow. Recieved it today. Sounds absolutely nothing like the ones posted on RUclips.. Mine sounds like a beer can with strings on it. If that was possible. No low end, not enough of mids to really even notice. Just highs, something one could find in the kids toy section at Walmart. Absolutely Garbage. No music store in a 60 mile radius around me had one either. Luckily Sweetwater has a great return policy..
I had ignored these becuase of the finish but picked one up at GC and was blown away. Blown away enough to go home with it. I could have bought a used one cheaper but we know every guitar can play and sound different, so I paid full price for the the one that was "ringin" in my hands. My point is try another one in person. This thing seems to be killing my 1977 Yairi I have played for years.
Played one in person and nothing special at all. Was expecting a lot more from the VTS Adi top and RW back and sides. The 000-15 sounds much better. This is over hyped
Definitely gonna buy this guitar next. It sounds just as beautiful as the way it looks.
I own 12 Martin’s. This is my favorite sounding yet.
Nice! Thanks for sharing :)
Make that "I own 12 Martins".

We appreciate that! Thank you!

Glad to hear Mike!
One of the better newer Martin 000s I've heard in a long while...nice playing too!
agreed, I'm glad you liked it!
Get touch to get your hands on this guitar today!
Great video and wonderful playing! You are very talented my friend!
Appreciate the kind words!
Great playing! How would you compare this to the 000-17. Was considering the black smoke 000-17e vs this one.
We haven't had a side by side comparison yet but the 000-17 is a picking/strumming/blues machine and the 000-16 is a great all rounder.
Damn, I like your playing👍🏻
Thanks mate!
If you’re looking for a employee soon I’m here !!! Love martins and love New Zealand!
Welcome to NZ!

I recently purchased one. Outstanding guitar for 2k.

Amazing playing. Great demo. Will it handle really low tunings?
Thank you! Yes will handle being down tuned, it would be worth trying a heavier string gauge to offset the tension decrease
If people were as good at their job as you are at yours, we’d live in a much much better world

What’s the difference between a street master Ooo 16 and the streetmaster ooo15.?
15 series is mahogany top, back, and sides. 000-16 is Adirondack top and rosewood back and sides. The Streetmaster series are satin finish, worn down styling, lightweight, and vibrant. Great for fingerpicking and flat picking
@@studio1vintageguitars what about the scale and nut?? Are they the same?
not the same, 000-15 is 25.4 and non-VTS, 000-16 is 24.9 and VTS
@@studio1vintageguitars vts?

That guitar is great! Sounds so good already! I own a OOO-15m burst which sounds fantastic too, well it would if I could play it better...
Really like the headstock and the cream-coloured buttons too, a pretty guitar for sure.
I find this guitar to be superb for fingerpicking but to really struggle with strumming unless done really lightly.
Is that just me aha?
Sounds about right, the 000-16 is a lightly built guitar perfect for fingerpicking or light playing, heavier strumming might be suited to the D-15M Streetmaster
You have to pay $4,000 for this in NZ???? Oh my. How much does the standard series go for?
That's 4000 NZD, do the conversion in your currency, things aren't cheap when they have to travel across the Pacific ocean. Prices are on our website.

Awesome! No worries. I appreciate the feedback!! 👍
Hi Skye, if you want to send as your email over at our website I can send you a comparison video with my thoughts.
Cheers

The braces are Sitka spruce
Thanks, Dale. Will mention that next time.
The bracing is Adirondack
I'm about to quit guitar after watching this guy play. 😢
Don't do that! We're all on our own journey, enjoy the guitar :)
Really plays well. Great tones too.
