If you were paying attention is that the loader is pulling a certain "gun ready" lever after putting in the gunpowder charges. So really it's safe but she's doing it so quick that it seems the whole process is automatic (besides the autoloader) and requires a quick hand to load it safely.

Just watched some US howitzer, they are still loading manual and have a long fire procedure. Than I saw this German machine from 1997....
Howitzer more reliable, cheaper, just as accurate, more mobile. Plus we already have 1,000s. PLUS artillery is outdated in warfare.
