This was my debut on a lighting desk. I was in the lobby selling T-Shirts when suddenly John Page; the band's tour manager and FOH soundman; came charging out and shouted at me to "get behind the fookin' lighting desk", as the LD was abysmal and the band couldn't see themselves on stage !!! I had never touched a lighting desk before and arrived just as my then favourite song had already started. John pushed aside the LD and I took the reins around the second verse of Sucking My Love and subsequently got the job on a permanent basis. This has to be the greatest recorded gig of 'The Yeds' that exists as far as I know, and shows the awesome power of this band at it's apogee. I will be forever grateful and blessed to have been a small part of the history of the greatest band of the NWOBHM movement. But just what have ostriches, pelicans and the inland revenue got in common ?

amazing concert, im so glad it was caught on tape! sean harris' vocals were the thing that really made me fall in love with the band: its charm and the contrast it gave with brian tatler's heavy riffing were so interesting, and its incredible to see how he could keep that even during an hour long concert brian's guitar playing is amazing as well, altho sloppy sometimes and with a few weird choices but definitely amazing! such a shame this band didnt become as huge as metallica, they definitely deserved it!
Well, one of the few complete live concerts filmed of Sean Harris era, a real Jewell by an awesome band that deserved to go much much far, and an indubitable direct influence for Metallica, that covered many of their tracks...
NICHOLAS THORNLEY Put it this way: I seem to remember an interview in which Brian Tatler was asked what advice he'd give young musicians based on his experiences. His answer was something like "don't let your mum manage the band." (Or in their case, Sean's mom.)
It's TRUE she was like a mellow version of sharon Arden major management wanted to sign them and take them to the next level but Sean and his mum was happy thieving the royalties sad but true 🤘
@@tomorrowcomestoday1621 Brian tatler had to get a lawyer to get his royalties back because Shaun Harris and his mum who managed diamond head had diverted them to there own accounts Lars Ulrich help him with all this you should read tatlers book very interesting
My band did a one off support slot for Diamondhead at our local venue in Scotland about 79/80, this has a surprisingly good sound when you consider the time.
before i first watched this whole show , i spent honestly ages trying to find a live version of 'its electric' with this lineup and im happy that it was played at this show
Diamond Head ,,,They were Rock Metal Blues Brilliant ! And now finally coming to my town of San Antonio ,Texas on Nov . 10th ! I wish I could've seen them back then , but hopefully I'll get to see them now ,,yes I know not this lineup ,but still Diamond Head Rocks Forever !!!
Hearing "We Won't Be Back" live takes me back a bit. Saw them loads of times in the early 80's at their peak but they're sounding almost as good as that with the current line up. Doesn't look like Duncan Scott on drums though unless he's shaved!!
never seen this before ,brilliant band can remember getting my white album in post never off the turntable back then,if only they hadn't done canterbury and stuck to what they where great at
@@seanharrismusic Sorry Sean, didn't mean it's all over. The 'waste' is that you should’ve been a much bigger star and ALL rock fans should know your name. Hope to hear great new music from you soon!
Awesome. never seen this before. Sadly I didn't see them at the time - not until the 90s when they had a bit of a comeback. Happy owner of a real vinyl white album though.
I never saw them either. My so-called 'friends' couldn't be arsed and there was no way I was going to see them on my own as a vulnerable teenager. Having said that, the 'rock family' are probably the safest crowds to be in so I missed out for nothing in the end lol.😜
@@JaneMetcalfeyes you feckin did mate, I went from brum to Reading on me own just to see THIN LIZZY.....the final words on any major décisions are..... feck it.....,
Metallica sucks sooo bad for ripping off this band. They didn't even come up with the name Metallica. Some guy accidentally gave it to them. And I remember reading about it. Lars called him a chump.
Fuck! Amazing to see this! Thanks for posting. Wish i coulda been there to see this, as i am originally from only a few short miles down the road from Wigan, but i'm not sure i'd even heard of the guys at this point. Oh well, great to see this... \m/ (:o)
Is this some sort of official recording ? If it is someone needs to clean it up and release it. Absolutely at their peak in this video ... sad how quickly it went wrong. I saw them twice in London when I was about 13 .... once with angel witch and quartz ( i think ) and at the Hammersmith odeon on the borrowed time tour.
yeah! was unexpected for me hear that song or type of music from this band(first time i hear this) and i got surprised, until he continued with the song hahahaah
Metallica s'est tellement influencé par ce groupe, 'c'est dingue. Flying, Bass rickenbecker, ca fait Burton/Hetfield à fond. Ils sont surement dans le public d'ailleurs que ca m’étonnerait pas!
Where is the song Wigan? I've heard Diamond Head 1000s of times. I thought that I just found a lost rare demo song called Wigan. The only Diamond Head song I have never heard before.
Great musically not so much singing. Big influence for Metallica and Dave Mustaine. The tying of the shirt in a not by the belly button throws me off a bit but to each his own. Maybe he and Halford were buds. Love Priest by the way!

Brian Tatlers guitar playing how didn’t he EVER get the recognition he deserves
Saw Diamond Head in a wee club in Paisley- The Bungalow Bar in 1980 & 81

Thank you for the kind words 🙏
Una de las mejores bandas de Heavy Metal... No puedo creer que haya sido tan infravalorada 😭😭😭😭
This was the Borrowed time tour which took place around 82-83.Borrowed time came out in 1982.
Diamond Head had unlimited potential, how could they possibly fail?

mismanagement by their managing company.. wrong marketing strategy are main factors blamed for their failure
One of the most underrated bands ever! Brilliant show! Excellent vocals!
Thank you!
Absofrigginglutely!!! Brian Tatler is criminally overlooked as a guitarist.
This is very raw and has that 80s feels

Only got to see diamond head once. Hammersmith Odeon. Absolutely brilliant. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fantastic band. Saw them live back in 1982 and The White Album is still my favourite album of all time!
🙏
Me too hands down
Great mix of NWoBHM, AOR, Progressive
brilliant stuff seen em twice in the early days 1981 at leeds university and sheffield city hall.Fetcg back so many good memories
Wow!!! Saw them loads of times at the Lion in Warrington. What a band! Should have been Massive!
Always a fun venue to play that!
Thank GOD someone did vid of this!

Una verdadera joya audiovisual que permite ver la calidad de la banda en directo. Nunca entenderé como no tuvieron más éxito.
Apparently their manager (one of the bandmate’s mom) was stealing funds

Its Duncan Scott
30:45 I hear Dave’s holy wars solo there. There’s no escaping Diamondhead influence in thrash metal.
METALLICA - JUMP IN THE FIRE solo Kirk HAmmet KILL EM ALL album.
Dave Mustaine said one of his favorite guitar players is Brian Tatler
I remember seeing them at West Runton pavilion on this tour
this is fantastic!

Epic! Too bad there is no official early Diamond Head video footage.
For me, the soul and feel in Tatlers solos were only matched by Shenkers and Lifesons.
30:30 Kirk HAmmet solo in Jump in the Fire, KILL EM ALL studio version.

from the first note you hear by them , and you immediately realize how much they traumatized the entire METALLICA ranks !!!

I would hope so!
I was there
always wondered what brian Tatler thought of Steve clark they both have the same style and came out abour the same time
That shirt was super sus
Why didnt they play "The Prince" SMH
Maybe too hard with just the 4 of them since it has keyboard and three guitar tracks

Lars Ulrich is somewhere in the crowd
That was Woolwich Odeon, there is an audio recording of that gig floating around here too.
