That's awesome dude can you spot your self in the video?
I was young and good looking back then!!! I can’t even recognize myself these days… comes in handy when I can’t recognize my wife…GOD I LOVED THESE GUYS!! Careful there PUK…..I may mistake you for my wife LOL.
Amen Brother im 57 grew up with RIOT !!!! on the turntable was a must Great Band i so Love this Band

So under appreciated, I graduated from high school in 81, and Riot was my go to band then, and still put the vinyl on the turn table!
Guy Speranza = amazing singer /// Mark Reale = a total genius, Rest in peace .
my first show was riot, frank marino, and triumph at the san antonio convention center arena. i still remember walking into the arena and seeing riot not 20 feet away, tearing it the fuck up. guy speranza was a rock star...it is something i hope i never forget...
One of the most criminally under rated American Hard Rock / metal bands of all time!!! Fire Down Under is without a doubt the best American Hard Rock / Metal album of all time and this is one of my all time fave live clips on all of RUclips!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Narita was better.
Totally Agree! Fire Down Under
Never metal! Fire down under is right up there with toys in the attic in my book!
First albums....'kin awesome...killer band
Fire Down Under is great, but is it really better than everything by Savatage, Vicious Rumors, Symphony X, Crimson Glory? Let’s not get carried away.
Guy sings for an Hour and actually gets better where most singers get worn out. amazing singer
From personal experience the only way my voice would get better throughout the performance would be if I didn’t warm up before lol
He was an amazing singer. Didn't over complicate things with a lot of vocal gymnastics, he just sang. Such a clean voice. RIP Guy, you are missed.
@@seanmoloney7797 it’s sad that he was completely done with the music industry by 82
@@MattVanPerry probably tired of being used and abused. In 82 he was so over the music business. It's unfortunate because he had a great voice.
Sperenza was much more real than forrester
Fire Down Under, every track is a hit on that album.
Every song is a hit.. Fire Down Under is one of the greatest albums ever made! Unbelievable lineup on an epic album! There will never be a band like Riot!
Love Narita too! The best cover version of Born to be Wild ever.
Check out Ravens version with Udo.
This is the best Riot lineup. I listened to them from day one . Back in the day we had to buy albums,by the song titles and how the album cover looked. This was one of them. Guy's vocals were amazing.
This is exactly how I wanted my band to sound 30 years ago but finding musicians this talented was much more challenging than I thought
I´ve been totaly sold for this band since they released there first album in 1977 " Rock City" when i was 15 !! And i´m 62 years old these days - and they are still incredible to listen to!!! Amazing!!! R.I.P Speranza and Mark Reale. 🤘🏻Rock on!!
A band like RIOT comes around once in a lifetime...I was 16 in 1981, remember buying FIRE DOWN UNDER, I WAS HOOKED...they should have been up there with DEF LEPPARD, MOTLEY CRUE, VAN HALEN, G-n-R....the were so underrated, never got the attention and acclaim they deserved, never got to see them live, but the are by far MY FAVORITE ALL TIME BAND AND FIRE DOWN UNDER IS 1 OF THE BEST ALBUMS TO COME OUT ...HANDS DOWN, BAR NONE, RIOT WAS A ROCK n ROLL MACHINE...only wish I could have saw them live, but this is the next best thing, finally found FIRE DOWN UNDER on CD, lost my original cassette back in the day, i listen to it at least 2..3 times a week, if not more, my favorite band, favorite album...
LONG LIVE RIOT...SHINE ON FOREVER...THE MOST UNDERRATED BAND OF ALL TIME...SHINE ON MARK, GUY, AND RHETT,....SHINE ON🤘
This album ranks in my top ten hard rock even metal albums of all time
along with Rainbow Rising Krokus One vice at a time Iron Maiden Killers
Motorhead Ace of Spades Judas Priest Point of Entry and ACDC Back in
Black and of course MONTROSE first album. What a great time for rock!
I saw them a few times open for KISS but only once with Guy Sperenza
and he had such a great voice. This version of the band was the best.
This concert is so great so rare and they play mostly FDU! and Narita!
I listen to this once a week at least. RIP GUY and Mark! rock legends!
Unleased in the East and no slep til hammersmith
Narita - one of the most underrated albums of all time.
True very true
FANTASTIC ALBUM...A ROCK RIFF FEST
I've always said that
Best Song in my opinion is Road Racing!!
@@saxonsteve from Narita, I would really be hard pressed to pick a favorite song...they're all just that damn good.
this incarnation of Riot is one of the greatest bands of the world.
40 years later, this Band kicks the shit out of anything just about. Mark was a shredder. These guys were amazing.
And still are............
@@markusarrownot nearly the same, no offense to the current incarnation of the band, but not even close. It's a totally different genre and style of music than this was. The new lineup are great at what they do, it's just not this though.
Some bands become very influential and respected without ever achieving long term commercial success...RIOT is one of those bands.
One of The Greatest NY Bands of all time! Rest In Peace Mark! You will never be forgotten!
This lineup is the definitive version of this band. Leming and Slavin were always in the pocket, and Ventura added so much as a songwriter and second lead. RIP Guy and Mark, you are missed.
thx for these words.
The truth
Wow, this is a lost treasure. I first heard this band when I was in basic training at Lackland AF base in 1981. Fire Down Under is one of the top ten rock albums of all time.
Swords & Tequila is a song on Fire Down Under.
Did you ever see them at Sunken Gardens in S.A.? I saw them play there w/Legs Diamond in the early 80's. One of my favorite shows ever!
Hey man, my brother did BT at Lackland in 81’ and I turned him on to Riot at that time. Ironic.
KISS-FM in San Antonio would turn on area hard rock/heavy metal fans to tons of great bands over the years: UFO, Moxy, Riot, Rush, Saxon....the list goes on.
My father did basic training @ Lackland back in the late 1940s!
Whoever grew up in NY at this time like I did was very lucky ,amazing band ,classic venue!
Still after more than 40 years in my top 3 of favorite metal / rock bands of the Eighties.
I saw them open for Rush in Birmingham Alabama on December 1st 1981.
I bought their album Fire Down Under the following week.
I still listen to it regularly, to this day.
When Mark Reale died, he was buried here in San Antonio. He's home and resting. Shine on brother.
Speranza seems to be the total underground rocker, something like a street guy opposed to a rock-star of the time. Not a hint of show-off and his vocals are not over-exaggerating. Killer performance. Thanks for the upload, priceless.
Thank god there was some video documentation and live recordings of what i and many regard as the greatest of bands who were for whatever reason dissed and nit given passage to global success, the musicianship is workd class and still holds up perfectly today , i listen to the first 3 albums as if it were yesterday and they still sound as perfect as the day i fisrt disocvered riot as a teenager in australia which was like living on mars for metal music .. god bless guy and mark in heaven and i thank them and the rest for endless years of listening pleasure ...
Great post, thank you
Sadly the only time i got to see them was in may 82 opening for rainbow and the scorpions in Rochester ny. It was the night before my hs English regents the next morning at 8. I lived in Utica and took the bus to see the show. I got back to the city around 6am and barely made it in time for the test and barely passed! Rock and roll!
1981, better music...letter times... Better everything. If I could go back I would in a heart beat
Kenny Mass definitely agree...
Absolutely! 🎸👍🏼
I was not born yet but I love most old school metal/rock I’m 26 back in black was my first favorite album
Thousands of hours listening to Riot during my lifetime. My favorite lineup here!!!
Got to see Riot in New Braunfels, Texas back in the 70s.
They were and still one of my favorite bands.
They had a strong following in San Antonio, Texas thanks to KMAC and Kiss
Such a kickass band!! Still cranking Riot in 2021!!
2023 👌👍🤘🤘🤘
2024🤘🎸
Mark Reale and Guy Speranza, Riot at its best. A never equaled mix of power and feelings.
Finishf, frilkkin fuckin’ A!!!
You are so right and no other singer out has ever sounded like Guy. True original vocalist
Guitarguts63 - And listen how close his vocals are to the studio versions! Amazing!!
Riot are crucial to feel and understand US Metal. This is true History, and you know, truth never lies.
Incrivel ver Guy Speranza e Mark Reale capitaneando a banda Riot, fora Kipinn leminng Rick Ventura LA Kouvarius😎🎤🎸🥁
I WAS AT THIS SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
+john erigo --- that's pretty amazing. What are the chances?
I know. That was show was amazing!!!!!!
+john erigo thats one of the best hard rock album ever! Its a pity it wosnt popular enought in Europa in this times!!!!
That's awsome man. Can you spot yourself in the video?
I think so......man this show kicked ass!
I was at that show, and I can see me when they pan the audience !~!!
Will Power Amazing, I was 18 at this time. I would have loved to see this live. I'm grateful to be able to just watch this video. Amen to you Brother
BudFactorE Oh yeah. 1981.. Feels like it coulda been yesterday! \m/ \m/
JarnBjorn72 Yeah, I wish it was
Oh you lucky son of a gun.
Can you time stamp yourself in the video?
Fire Down Under is definitely in my top 10 favorite albums
Me as well
Riot is one of my favorite north american band. Mark Reale and Guy Speranza monsters!! RIP.
I still don’t know how the hell I missed these guys back in the day. Must be because I grew up on the west coast. I heard Eddie Trunk talking about them over the last couple of years and finally gave them a listen. I just added a vintage copy of Fire Down Below to my vinyl collection. I can’t stop listening to it! Gotta be one of the best rock albums ever, start to finish.
Does not get any better than this here. Long Live RIOT!
Hell ya bro!
One of the most marginally under rated bands in the rock and roll history. If all those things are not enough, they ( and we, why not) lost three irreplaceable talents, nice human being. One of the saddest and tragically fate in the rock and roll. Watched this one performance gives me mixed feelings : good to hear and see, but touch me deeply so sad about all have happen for all these guys in the band.
Amazing footage!!! Guy Sperenza the best singer for Riot to me! this is incredible stuff, wish there was more from this era.
Sandy was a total beast behind that kit. Dude looked totally possessed with just one mission in mind; drive this music like a boss and kick every ass in this joint tonight. He was the real fucking deal.
Even 38 years later fantastic!!
This video is pure fucking gold. Guy is one of my all time favorite vocalists Fire Down Under is one of the best all time metal albums......the band this line up was pure fucking straight in your chest rock.
Takes me back to rollin’ the boonies in my 79 El Camino with my best friend Abe, jamming’ Riot for all within a one mile radius, getting 💨 and enjoying youth!!!
F#%KING RAD!!!
RIOT Hell Yes Love this Band !!!!!!!
Raw and brutal. Their passion captured live. All members are on fire. I've seen this video tens of times. One of the best. This is a band of brothers delivering a high energy performance. Rock on.
I strongly believe if Guy just hung in there for another year or so these guys would have made it to MTV and made it really big !!
Riot was GREAT ! I got to see them live once. One of my favorites !!
Guy had the voice! So thankful to have this music to listen to. 🙏🏼
I saw the classic lineup open up for Rush, Dec 21,1981 @ the BBA, East Rutherford, NJ. Sandy Slavin did a fantastic drum solo, and Riot kicked some serious ass! One of the best concerts ever...
Ha I was there too...Great show both bands!!..I don't know if you remember when the lights came up and singer said "man these guys just want *%#@ RUSH" on open mike LOL!....Hard to think these guys never made it big.
I saw them with Rush on Nov 29, 1981in Jacksonville a few weeks before. Killer show
That was Guy's last show right?
@@seanmoloney7797 I think it was, the date sounds right about the time he would've given it up
Classic and the most very underrated band of all time! I bought Fire Down Under back in 1981 and it's still one of my favorite albums of all time.
Outlaw ultra kicks megasuper ass.
Iron Maiden got a little familiar with Swords and Tequila when writing 2 minutes to midnight.
Mariano Rodríguez and Iron Maiden also got a little familiar with Raven's Faster than the speed of light when writing Aces High!!!
You know Steve Harris has always been a devotee of Mark's guitar prowess and I have heard him say in a KISS radio interview that he loved Riot!
Adrian Smith wrote the main riff for the song and Bruce Bruce wrote the lyrics and the chorus.
Listen to Budgie’s tune Wildfire. That riff WAS 2 Min BEFORE 2 Min. Almost to the T
@@brianallen8091 Budgie too are Riot like under rated.
"Fire Down Under" (1981) - Oh, my most awesome teenage high school years. 😎👍🏻
Ridiculously tight performance. These guys knew what the hell they were doing. It's like they were separated at birth from "On Through The Night"-era Def Leppard. (And we know where DL went from there...) Hard to believe Guy left a band this hot, not long after this gig.
They were PERFECT!!! 👏👏👏
They blow Def Leppard off the face of the Earth! Even the early Def Leppard, when they were a really good rock band.
This footage is golden. These guys are in the stratosphere. This is just so damned good. What an enormous talent. Just mind-boggled by these guys. What a treasure.
Охрененная музыка для этого времени. До сих пор цепляет.
What I've learned over the years is that the record label they were signed to really didn't promote them like they should have. RIP Mark Reale one of the most underrated guitar players of all time. His solos were lengthy and yet he had an uncanny knack for keeping them fresh and inspiring
I watch this video at least once a month here. One of my favorite bands of all time. Hands down FDU is one of the greatest hard rock/metal albums of all time. I was lucky enough to see this tour in Chicago just weeks before Guy quit. 39 yrs later, still one of the best concerts I have ever seen
I missed it but glad you did! Unlike that you watch it that often because I do too. Can't not watch Guy. He is just such a singer! Voice and charisma! Such POWER!!!
One of my favorite Rock bands growing up as a teen in the 1980’s.
That’s wot I call good ol fashioned hard fukn rockn roll long live the 80s👌👍🤘🤘🤘
Awesome! One of my favorite bands.
De los 80's, una de las mejores bandas del hard Rock,
Lastima del deceso de dos grandes de la banda!
RIOT más allá del reino de la muerte!!!
I was a teenager in the 80s and Fire Down Under is one of the greatest unknown albums of all time. This is treasure. The first time I"ve seen them live.
It’s not unknown by the true rockers of the day.
kick ass live concert from underrated american heavy metal band riot. live Long Island, New York 9-15-1981. this rocks. man what a band,
I agree this is amazing heard this back when it came out I was 14 and this was the cats meow
GRILLBUOY101 cool :) to me it is nice to play all this cool stuff. and i only found out about this band a few years back and i love them.
GRILLBUOY101 I was 15 living in Elizabeth N.J. most of my friends were a lot older , so I was turned on music my friends never knew about .it was a grate time back then ,
I read somewhere that in 1982, Scott Ian called Guy Speranza and asked him to be the lead singer for Anthrax!! He declined the offer though saying he was done with the music business! But can you imagine?! Holy shit that woulda been really interesting to see!!
🤘🤘🤘
According to the band Guy quit because he was not getting the money that was rightfully his by the band's shitty management that fucked them over. I can imagine that Guy was just too frustrated to the music business to the point where he had enough of it. If Guy got the money that is rightfully his it would have a different outcome either Guy stay in Riot or be joining other bands like Anthrax for instance. Witch by the way I do agree it would be interesting.
Fuckin great. Always were, always will be. Remembering my own teenage band daze in the late 70's when we would basically sneak into the Rock Palace or Zappa's to see a set or 2. At that time, Riot was a local band (on the rise) that we tried to emulate by covering their songs and copying their stage presence. Well trying to anyway! Fire Down Under was difficult (to say the least) for a bunch of tenderfoots! I was only playing bass for a few years back then so we did the best we could. Ever hear the phrase, "fake it until you make it"? lol- Good times. RIP Mark & Guy.
Imagine how great Guy would have been if he actually wanted to be a lead singer. In the Riot Documentary they say he quit the band because he never really wanted to do it. Pure natural talent.
A masterpiece. This album was a top 5 in the 80's in my book, from top to bottom.
should be a must listen to any kid 15 to 18 year old make a
real rock n roll man out of them.
I had tix in either 81 or 82... Saxon was the headliner, then Riot. Joe Perry Project was third, then Randy Hansen. Opening the show? Some up and comers called Motley Crue .... Biff, Saxons singer had a sore throat so they scrapped the whole show... Concord Pavillion was the facility. Great place to see a gig. I never saw Motley Crue or Riot, but saw the other 3 at various times... RIP Guy and Mark...
I had a ticket to this show too! I will never forget- third row center stage... and it got cancelled! The Concord Pavillion offered our money back for unused tickets but I didn’t want it, I just wanted to go to the show- Noooooo!!! I remember the singer from Saxon got sick, but I had no idea who Joe Perry & Motley Crue we’re at the time (high school freshman). Still have Fire Down Under album today in 2021. Thanks for the memories...
I first heard of Riot in 1981 at the tender age of 21 and fuckin loved my one and only cassette tape of Fire Down Under! I thought swords and Tequila was the best hardest rockin song for the longest time. Now at 60 I’m revisiting them and wondering what I missed! Still get my old blood pumping!
Cialis works good.
"Fire Down Under" stands as one of the best hard rock/heavy metal albums of all time. I love this band.
Criminally underrated band. What a voice Speranza had. Live he sounded close to LP quality. Saw them live at The Heavy Metal Holocaust festival in the UK in '81.
An amazing blend of melody and metal.
It’s remarkable how close his vocals are to the studio versions! True talent!!
Absolute gold. Guys voice just awesome! So unknown for how good they were.
WLIR, My Fathers Place & Riot ...This was a Special Time. ...But, Truth Be Told ... I Came in with Rhett Forrester.
Sad we only got 3. Great songwriting, and performing all around. Love a bit of Riot 👍
Fucking Awesome! I drove like 8 hours to see them opening for Rush on the Moving Pictures tour in Jacksonville, Fl.. It was the last date opening for them before they headed across the pond for a tour of Europe. They were awesome!. Where are all the rock bands!
I fucking LOVE this lineup. what great sound they had.
Rock On People!!
So great is this band.
this cant ever be lost in time
+marc giroldi agree!!!!!!!! too precious
Lucky to have seen Riot at the first Monsters of Rock at Donnington. They were awesome.
Love it, you guys rock!!!
Una gran banda que merecia mas reconocimiento. Mark reale, increible guitarrista.
Nailed that shit!!! No fuking doubt absolute talent way the fuk overlooked... ive been jamming this "album" since day fuking one! Hail to some metal kings!!
I'm not a fan of helium head singers but this guy is great... his singing on Fire Down Under is top notch and is only surpassed with this performance. the band is so tight...such a shame they didn't attain the level of success that i think they deserved.
Always loved these guys, true story, they got thier name from.the Honeymooners, they loved the show and the way Ralph always told Alice " your a RIOT "
Peter Bitelli the original drummer of Riot told me that in an interview that I have with him he was a really great person to talk to.
What a vocalist he was.
RIOT... amazing now and amazing then, incredible musicians that should be the biggest metal band on the planet !!!!
I used to hang out with Mark at Sneakers in San Antonio all the dayum time! R.I.P. Mark , you were one cool dude! LOL!
Simply the BEST!!!! Fire Down Under is the ultimate Heavy Metal album of all the times. The energy of this band belongs to another World and they gave it to all of us. Thanks to RIOT and really Thank You for sharing this treasure.... Run For Your Life!!!! Trive
One of the pioneers of hard rock, heavy metal band & power metal band, never got the recognition they truly deserve though.
Saw them in Wichita Falls, Texas opening for Triumph and Frank Marino! Still telling fellow musicians how an unknown band can effect a new listener. 45 years later... still the sh!t.
🤟❤️🤟
Guy Speranza was just a Beast!!! As good as they were musically he just floored me with every song vocally
I WAS THERE TOO..
Fire Dow Under e Thunder Steel e Narita são clássicos do Heavy Metal 🤘😎🎤🎸🎸🎸🥁🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
Great gig! R.I.P., guys...
One of the most influential rock albums of all time 🤘
They are in my Top 5 metal hall of fame. An extraordinary album such it is near impossible to pick a best... Ridiculously good machine gun fast dueling guitars, add Guy's incision, add drums... Riot are almost their own genre...no lies here... bejeezus! I will never steer too far from my aging Riot cassettes and CDs. All gold.
Riot rocked the Timbers in Glendora California .. What a night I'll never forget.
Hope the publishing is owned by the writers; which would include estates of those dynamic, creative, amazing members who have gone on to play at their Father's Place in the sky. Long time fan after purchasing the FDU album, searched for any & all material Riot recorded. When Guy departed he took the soul of the band (IMO). I am grateful for this live footage post and the power of technology so that Guy & the band can be seen & heard forever.
Well said, man.
omg Warrior! ... Who play riffs so thrash metal back in the day?? This guys are play pure thrasher riff in this song!
