Technically kaiba is a pharaoh or at least his ancesetor seto was. Atem did appoint him as Pharaoh. Which should mean he would have access to the Egyptian gods.
Prokrastiautistische Aktion I agree, they tried something similar in the first yugioh movie, but the problem was it didnt give screen time for anyone else either and the villain was kind of random, so it really just felt like a cash grab for cards, this on the other hand was a genuine effort, 7.5/10 movie for DSOD in my book, 8-8.5/10 if you are a hardcore yugi fan.
Even then, Yugi's story is done. He's gone through his character development and is more or less standing on his own, no longer needing Atem to help him. Whether GX is canon to the manga continuity which this movie is set in or not, Yugi is already set to be that badass that Judai gets Winged Kuriboh from. But even then, as far as this movie is concerned, he's at a point where he can stand up to Kaiba or other challengers on his own. He has become Atem, but even better than him as a person. Kaiba, on the other hand, still needs some growing to do, and one can argue has regressed here. Because he's lost the only person not Mokuba that he actually considers a friend, at least by his definition and even if he would never use such a term to describe Atem. Since this is Manga Kaiba, who wasn't at the Ceremonial Duel (despite that goof in the trailer using the anime version of Atem's departure), as far as he's concerned, the only person he has any capacity to respect and who has been able to get under his skin is just suddenly gone, and he has no closure. And all that's left is the boy who's body he inhabited, who, again, because he wasn't at the Duel, is a poor man's version of who he knows as "Yugi", no matter how good the kid is as a Duelist. What's funny about it all is that, for as much as he accused Atem in the Battle City Finals of being a slave to the past just because the spirit was searching for memories and an identity he had since lost and needed to move on (though it didn't help that Ishizu and everybody else were harping on its importance so much and that pushed Kaiba's buttons hard), Kaiba himself is more shackled to the past than anyone, simply because he's so obsessed with burying it. And yet here he is, unable to move on because his only worthy rival is gone. Let's be honest, that rivalry did the man much more good than harm, and he knows it.

I knew someone would focus only on the anime part even though this video is manga canon only just to say something about what he did in the anime. You mean you like the anime version of him. While that was anime original material that didn't happen in the manga (Kazuki Takahashi's true story of the series), Sugoroku did mention the heart of the cards during the Death-T arc (or after his duel with Kaiba in Duel Monsters). Not only that, but all the times Atem needed to draw the card he needed during his duel with Kaiba at Duelist Kingdom, his duel with Yami Bakura during Battle City, and his duel with Yami Malik, for example. Atem drawing cards at will was the "culmination" of something that started at the beginning of the series in the anime. It's not like GX, 5D's, ZeXal, etc. where they drew shiny cards and created cards out of nowhere during the duel that weren't even in their deck before the duel started. At the beginning to the end of the day, this is a pointless discussion because the anime version of Atem is not Kazuki Takahashi's true vision of the character. lol

People also forget something with the reason Kaiba even summoned Obelisk. The Gods during the Modern era chose the duelists to wield them. Obelisk had accepted Kaiba as a worthy person. Now if he tried Ra or Slifer, that would've been a different story
personally i love the reference that is done with immortal phoenix gearfried as in ra offering power to the card jounochi almost defeated marik with before his collapse
@GT012345tube Kaiba was attacked and used counter gate Counter gate-(when ur attacked directly negate the attack and draw a card, if it is a monster special summon it in face up attack. Position)
Yeah they did a good job with this scene in the dub, specifically the god chant music used for the English version, in my opinion, is on par with the reintroduction of Obelisk's Japanese theme, but overall 4kids just takes all the seriousness and a lot of the epicness out of YuGiOh
I just love how this scene is reminiscent to Kaiba first summoning Obelisk when he was testing his gen 2 duel disk in the manga. When he had his back against the wall due to the computer having 3 Blue-Eyes on the field, he started thinking about Atem (it showed Atem looking towards the 3 Blue-Eyes) and how never back down against Kaiba's Blue-Eyes because he believed in his cards and stood up to them without fear. He also talked about how a duelists greatest enemy is fear. He then said that he would seize the future. He bet everything on his next card and drew Obelisk. Then he used the effect of Obelisk (and shown in the video) and destroyed all 3 Blue-Eyes. Now with this scene, after not witnessing Atem, his one and only rival, leave for the afterlife in the manga, Kaiba never got to duel him one last time and win. Kaiba is on a mission to bring him back. The scene in the video is now self-explanatory when compared to my first paragraph. The difference is that back then, Kaiba was remembering the past, but his goal was focused on the future. Here, he was remembering the past and only focused on bringing the past back.

For those who are wondering how Kiba summoned Obelisk. Keep in mind the duel disk and the gear he’s wearing allows him to have access to all of the cards he used in the past.
Partially wrong, Partially Wrong, Wrong. His duel disk draws upon memories, he isn't even using real cards as the duel disk is connected to a neuro link that basically is Duel Links. It also being a Dimension Duel inside the Temple where Atem and Yugi fought and Kaiba Originally missed out on meant that space time was very weak. Add in Kaiba being the one worthy outside of Atem is the reason he was able to call upon Obelisk from the Great Beyond due to his Trap Counter Gate
I love that Obelisk's summoning animation in Duel Links references this scene. I also like to imagine this was a means to make it up to Obelisk for not being in GX.
@@aditiyabcdexyzOne of the episodes involves ra from the earlier season. I have not watched gx in a long time but I am pretty sure it's there. Edit: It's the 85th episode.
One of the most epic scenes in the movie with that DOPE ASS MUSIC. When i saw this scene in the sub, i just shouted YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ITS OVER
Really Bro? The fact that you told Lelouch that he's wrong (actually correct since it's one part of the full reason) means you didn't understand this scene (as much as you thought you did) even when Aigami said the magic words. Kaiba even looks at Obelisk and says "Yugi (Atem)."
Nah I agree with Atem helping Kaiba. Diva states that traces of Atem's consciousness are still present there and don't forget Marik was able to control both Ra and Slifer and even use them both against Atem during the main series.
Digital Adventurer How is Malik controlling Ra and Osiris, can only be controlled by those connected to the Millennium Items, relevant to this? Aigami said why Obelisk appeared (the subs get the point across). You literally took half of what Aigami said and ignored the rest. lol Also, this Obelisk has its Egyptian designs from the Memory World arc, which is not the same as the modern gods Pegasus created.
rob19ny He said "In original series". Marik used the gods against Yugi, and from the original series we know God Cards include real Gods' soul in them. And i believe even Aigami said that Pharaoh's memories are scattered around, so Kaiba picked up on it
It's simple though... He IS one of the chossen to control a God card, there was still Obelisk underground below them Aigami's dimentional bs - say - format for the duel backfired at him and allowed to summon the Obelisk spirit that was in the buried card there and Kaiba's will made the job, simple as that.
Nah, fam. Atem just picked up Obelisk's card and just handed it through the stone so Kaiba could draw it from there. Infact, Kaiba made Atem's job easier because he's using hardlight tech.
I like to think of this scene as atem giving Kaiba a gift out of respect to help him in his duel. Its actually very touching, their bromance is aggressively love/hate.
@@joseescobar9017 You sure bout that? Kaiba was attacked and used counter gate Counter gate-(when ur attacked directly negate the attack and draw a card, if it is a monster special summon it in face up attack. Position)
Also, I need to mention the hilarity that ensues in the commentary with the main cast. They watch this and start dying laughing when Kaiba screams “DRAW!” They then ask why he has to always be so dramatic. Then they start talking about how cool he is a few seconds later because this scene switches gears so quickly.
Bruh imagine how broken Kaiba (DSoD version) would’ve be if he has a skill that summons obelisk the tormentor in duel links lmao. The description would’ve been like “Can only be used once per duel. Activate this skill when you reach 1000 LP, special summon obelisk the tormentor. Effect: destroy all monsters on your opponent’s field. If you do, Inflict 4000 LP damage to your opponent. Cannot be affected by spell/trap/monster effects.”

Kaiba was attacked and used counter gate Counter gate-(when ur attacked directly negate the attack and draw a card, if it is a monster special summon it in face up attack. Position)
Kaiba back then: fight for the future and want to leave the past behind, he tributed Obelisk to summon Blue-eyes White Dragon when fighting with Ishizu Kaiba now: Searching for the soul of the past, he tributes Blue-eyes White Dragon to summon Obelisk 🤔
Well the sub version of this movie follows the manga and not the anime. In the manga, the last time Kaiba saw Atem and the others was Battle City Finals. That is quite literally the last time Kaiba sees Yugi and the others until this movie. which would explain why Kaiba is so obsessed with reviving Atem
Haha, the part where Kaiba says "it's not a monster, its a GOD!" reminds me of something kids in middle school would say to somehow not have something like Dark Hole from destroying their card.
You can see for a moment how even Kaiba recognizes that this is a gift from Atem himself... "Yugi...", that was him realizing that Atem wasn't gonna let him lose. Kaiba can say what he wants but he truly respects Atem, he even appointed Kaiba's ancestor as pharaoh.
The only scene from this YGO franchise where Kaiba had a "Heart of the Cards" moment because he acknowledge that he cannot afford to lose after all the sacrifices he made just to reunite with Atem in the afterlife. Truly one of the best top-tier summoning moments from my list.
He had some Heart fo The Cards moments in the OG series, most noticeable is his fight with Ishizu where he sacrificed Obelisk for Blue Eyes because it was calling out to him
@GT012345tube I want to add context for people who forgot or just ignoring that part. In the specific duel where that happen, Ishizu activate a trap card under Kaiba nose where if he make Obelisk attack, Obelisk would be destroyed and he will take damage equal to its attack points (4000) directly. Sacrificing Obelisk to summon Blue Eye negate that trap. So even with the "Blue Eye saves Kaiba's life" backstory bullshit aside, it was a logical move that he made.

He activated counter gate lol. The monsters where used to activate the effect. Watch the movie
IT'S NOT A MONSTER
IT'S A KAMI DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Intentional weeb comment? lol
LMAO
Are you Dan Kuroto?
The fuc* Is a Kami?!
go watch dbz kid
Best kaiba moments ever
Only Japanese voice actors could make the sound of drawing a trading card be like doing your 200th weight lift
It's because not only Kaiba has money, he finally believed in the Heart of the Cards like Yugi!
This isn't 4Kids scene. Heart of the Cards is 4Kids added BS just like Shadow Realm.
@@klockenberg2299 I was just being tongue and cheek on that one.
@@ThaKingzsouljahPR777 True, but a lie repeated often enough would be mistaken as a truth and, yeah, actually what people know about DM series outside of memes is so little.
''ITS NOT A MONSTER. ITS A GOD!''
jesus i think i jizzed in my pants
People also forget something with the reason Kaiba even summoned Obelisk. The Gods during the Modern era chose the duelists to wield them. Obelisk had accepted Kaiba as a worthy person. Now if he tried Ra or Slifer, that would've been a different story
personally i love the reference that is done with immortal phoenix gearfried as in ra offering power to the card jounochi almost defeated marik with before his collapse
Best destiny draw ever.
@GT012345tube Kaiba was attacked and used counter gate
Counter gate-(when ur attacked directly negate the attack and draw a card, if it is a monster special summon it in face up attack. Position)
The fact that they remade the insane godawesome original ost makes this a 100 times better
Is it me or do that sounds more intense then the American version
yes because Tsuda Kenjiro is an amazing voice actor~
.
.
.
plus there're some epic background music too
Trâm Anh Võ Nguyễn plus obelisk's roar here is more imposing and badass than in the dub
Eric Stuart (Dub Seto) is a good voice actor too, he's the legend that voiced good ole' Brocko. Some day he'll be a pokemon breeder
One of the sad things about America when it comes to Yugioh. They make it less intense with the dialogue
"Go, Obelisk! Kill that weird evil zebra unicorn thing" - Totally Canon Kaiba
? The 3 Blue-Eyes are Tributed for Obelisk's Normal Summon, not destroyed.
@@klockenberg2299 You replied to my 4 year old comment to say something wrong all because you know nothing, which in turn wasted my time. Read the manga (source material). The Darkside of Dimensions is a manga movie.
So now we're drawing cards out of the ground???
If I'd known this I would've burned my decks long time ago
SiNKarnage lol
I tried but I almost break my hand
That's called Destiny Draw

Ground is his extra deck 🤣, that only works for kaiba, screw the rules
Not even 5 seconds in and I have myself saying shut up Mokuba
1:50 Aigami: Impossible! Monster effects are negated!
Kaiba: OCG (Official Card Game) DE WA NAI! M&W (Magic & Wizards) DA!!
Kaiba's seiyuu is beyond selling it here. What a strong performance
Best scene ever !
Music 10/10
Voice 10/10
God’s roar 10/10
Timing of cuts 10/10
I just love Japanese ost of Yu-Gi-Oh! it’s so epic
The sub version is much better than the dub one
For those who are wondering how Kiba summoned Obelisk. Keep in mind the duel disk and the gear he’s wearing allows him to have access to all of the cards he used in the past.
He draw the card from the temple, like Aigami said.
wrong explanation . He found the card that went missing in the end of yugioh and draw from ground .
Wrong explanation he has enough money to summon obelisk from underground
Partially wrong, Partially Wrong, Wrong. His duel disk draws upon memories, he isn't even using real cards as the duel disk is connected to a neuro link that basically is Duel Links. It also being a Dimension Duel inside the Temple where Atem and Yugi fought and Kaiba Originally missed out on meant that space time was very weak. Add in Kaiba being the one worthy outside of Atem is the reason he was able to call upon Obelisk from the Great Beyond due to his Trap Counter Gate
I got goosebump over an ultra dramatic Kaiba's "draw" voice? That's definitely the childhood feeling.
God, Kaiba’s JP voice actor is so fucking good. Such a sexy bad guy/anti hero voice. He also does Van Ziek’s in The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles
I love that Obelisk's summoning animation in Duel Links references this scene.
I also like to imagine this was a means to make it up to Obelisk for not being in GX.
Now, for DSoD, it's Ra who wasn't in the movie. Osiris appeared in flashback Yugi vs Atem duel, and Obelisk is this scene.
i couldn't recall ra's appearance in GX
@@aditiyabcdexyzOne of the episodes involves ra from the earlier season. I have not watched gx in a long time but I am pretty sure it's there.
Edit: It's the 85th episode.
One of the most epic scenes in the movie with that DOPE ASS MUSIC. When i saw this scene in the sub, i just shouted YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ITS OVER
Atem basically helped Kaiba here.
You literally took half of what Aigami said and ignored the rest. lol Also, this Obelisk has its Egyptian designs from the Memory World arc, which is not the same as the modern gods Pegasus created.
technically priest seto is atem's cousin
rob19ny He said "In original series".
Yup, season five when Yugi and the other's go back to Egypt.
Really Bro?
It's literally confirmed by Kaiba that Atem gave him Obelisk to win. As he looks at Obelisk and says "Yugi...". So, you're a wrong lmfao.
Nah, fam. Atem just picked up Obelisk's card and just handed it through the stone so Kaiba could draw it from there.
Infact, Kaiba made Atem's job easier because he's using hardlight tech.
prof doom didn't atem _give_ the throne to ancient Seto?
@@ItsDaKoolaidDude yes but in season 5 says that only the destined child (or something like that) can summon the 3 Gods
I like to think of this scene as atem giving Kaiba a gift out of respect to help him in his duel. Its actually very touching, their bromance is aggressively love/hate.
Finally i was waiting for someone to upload the sub thanks a lot
Kaiba is Vegeta of Yu-gi-oh!
Piotr Jaśkowiec God I think the same.
Piotr Jaśkowiec Sure is a loser, the shadow.
Better than Vegeta ofcourse.. Vegeta is a midget
No because kaiba dosen't get humiliated like vegeta
@@joseescobar9017 You sure bout that? Yugi and Pegasus part 1, Yugi and almost lost to Ishizu part 2, Noah part 3, draw vs Allister and gets totally ridiculed vs Dartz while teaming up with Yugi and in the movie gets sent to the shadow realm vs the final vilain, so yeah he got humiliated a handful of times by the final vilains and the MC and thats exactly what happens to Vegeta and that's pretty normal.
Better with the japanese music.
x1000 better
True
I like how Obelisk, Blue Eyes, and Dark magician got makeovers for the movie.
They remake them
By changing the details with like animated
the ost is just the goat with the summoning loved that they used this ost
Technically Priest Seto became Pharaoh after Atem sealed himself away so...Obelisk serving Kaiba is a legit thing
Priest Seto is also part of the Pharoah bloodline through a shared grandparent.
"It''s not a MOnster, its a GOD" That''s like saying "the dead monsters are not dead. They are just in the graveyard."
Screw the rules!
I HAVE A GOD!
Shadow Drifter it went from money to gods lmao
Worth it all god cards in all yugioh series
Together no one could defeat you
AND money.
オベリスクは、あの姉ちゃんから囮として借り受けたとはいえ、遊戯の手に渡るまでは社長のしもべだったからね。
God's Anger+Obelisk+Kaiba=Perfeição
Kaiba will all ways be the best rival character in the entire yugioh seasons. Fight me if u think am wrong
jose barrientos you right
What’s the competition?
Best rival yes but I'd have to give props to Chazz since he can build a deck out of scraps and still win and Jack because fuck you he's British
One of the best rivals in the entire Anime.
I mean, no competition... the dude even weaponized his ego
Kaiba always explains cards in the best way
It's a GOD
Pisces Stein GOD HAND IMPACT!!
Kaiba: **summons Obelisk from the ground**
Aigami: wait, that's illegal.
Kaiba: Srew that I have money.
Kaiba was attacked and used counter gate
Counter gate-(when ur attacked directly negate the attack and draw a card, if it is a monster special summon it in face up attack.
It's no monster... ITS A GOD!
0:33
Kaiba got his hand from CLAMP studios
Kagami was in the anime/manga industry before CLAMP even existed.
So is this where all the tuition money from Duel Academy goes to? SWEET!
POGCHAMP
Idk what it is but the way he said “Yugi..” was badass
Bruh imagine how broken Kaiba (DSoD version) would’ve be if he has a skill that summons obelisk the tormentor in duel links lmao.
The description would’ve been like “Can only be used once per duel. Activate this skill when you reach 1000 LP, special summon obelisk the tormentor. Effect: destroy all monsters on your opponent’s field. If you do, Inflict 4000 LP damage to your opponent. Cannot be affected by spell/trap/monster effects.”
I think.it will be more like drawn it instead of summoning him because Kaiba still had to sacrifice his monsters
You put those ideas into me, now, i need see an event where Kaiba have that skill and a better Deck than his Lvl 40 version, could be really interesting and, especially, funny and a real challenge.
Kaiba was attacked and used counter gate
Counter gate-(when ur attacked directly negate the attack and draw a card, if it is a monster special summon it in face up attack. Position)
Is it just me or is DSOD Kaiba pretty much broken in DuelLinks thanks to his cards(for example:Assault Wyvern,Blue Eyes Alternative)and his skills?
@@agenericguy1014 memorry of th king skil at 10 november
This is my favourite scene in the movie for one reason, Kaiba's voice actor. The acting in this particularly scene was fucking AMAZING !.
Kaiba back then: fight for the future and want to leave the past behind, he tributed Obelisk to summon Blue-eyes White Dragon when fighting with Ishizu
Kaiba now: Searching for the soul of the past, he tributes Blue-eyes White Dragon to summon Obelisk 🤔
I mean his Blue Eyes on the field were like fossils at that point, so he sacrifised something old, for something OLDER
Shit makes me cry man atem was there to help kaiba wish i had friends like that
"You can't activate that!"
Obelisk: "Who asked?"
Gotta love that about the god cards in the series. They are godly.
Well, at least they gave some explanation, compared to the dub. I swear I should watch this fully subbed, otherwise the movie didn't make much sense.
Ramen117 noooooooo
Well the sub version of this movie follows the manga and not the anime. In the manga, the last time Kaiba saw Atem and the others was Battle City Finals. That is quite literally the last time Kaiba sees Yugi and the others until this movie. which would explain why Kaiba is so obsessed with reviving Atem
Ramen117 The whole anime doesn’t make sense unless you watch it subbed
Chris Ramirez so wait, does kaiba ever knows about his past in the manga or not?
Im asking this because i dont know anything about the manga
What i want to know is if in the manga yugi and the others did went to ancient egypt and if they did kaiba didn't went with them
You gotta admit when Kaiba screwd the rules, he does it like a badass
SCREW THE RULES,I HAVE MONEY!
Haha, the part where Kaiba says "it's not a monster, its a GOD!" reminds me of something kids in middle school would say to somehow not have something like Dark Hole from destroying their card.
In the anime it's a magical game, of course magical draws or magical comebacks are allowed
i had no idea tsuda kenjiro has been voicing kaiba this whole time
WHY DO I CRY WHEN KAIBA SAYS "ITS A GOD!"??
You can see for a moment how even Kaiba recognizes that this is a gift from Atem himself... "Yugi...", that was him realizing that Atem wasn't gonna let him lose. Kaiba can say what he wants but he truly respects Atem, he even appointed Kaiba's ancestor as pharaoh.
The sub’s music in this scene just makes it 10 times more epic
-You't use any monsters special ability
- I can pay for it!!
The only scene from this YGO franchise where Kaiba had a "Heart of the Cards" moment because he acknowledge that he cannot afford to lose after all the sacrifices he made just to reunite with Atem in the afterlife. Truly one of the best top-tier summoning moments from my list.
He had some Heart fo The Cards moments in the OG series, most noticeable is his fight with Ishizu where he sacrificed Obelisk for Blue Eyes because it was calling out to him
Kaiba in the main series do had the heart of the card
YGO DOSD Abridged: "Screw the rules" moment because he draws from the ground
when you're so rich, you get access to the afterlife
MONSTA DE WA NAI, KAMI DA!!
I love that part
This is the same madlad who once sacrificed God to his dragon fetish
@GT012345tube I want to add context for people who forgot or just ignoring that part. In the specific duel where that happen, Ishizu activate a trap card under Kaiba nose where if he make Obelisk attack, Obelisk would be destroyed and he will take damage equal to its attack points (4000) directly. Sacrificing Obelisk to summon Blue Eye negate that trap.
So even with the "Blue Eye saves Kaiba's life" backstory bullshit aside, it was a logical move that he made.
DORO! KAMI CARDO!
So much love for this film, a bit rushed at points but to be fair there was a lot to go over in this movie
0:32 when you finally pulled the UR you wanted all your life
Kaiba, the man who invented time travel just so he can battle his rival one more time in a children's card game, what a chad
Everyone: how did you summon Obelisk?!
Kaiba: My wallet
His one true love a, Atem, helped from the grave.
this literally the best and the most well animated scene in the entire Yu-gi-oh series.
MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNN THAT FELT SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FUCKING GOOOOOD.
Finally the sub version the way kaiba say DRAWWWW , GODO HANDO IMPACTOOOO , daaaamn man the Japanese version is 100x better the that 4kids shit
1:03 That scream from Obelisk sounds like a War Horn being blown at the same time. I love it. Something about it is just so badass.
Once he’s done with Diva. He’s coming to Jump Force.
Kaiba 😠: I’m coming Atem. DUELLLL!!!
