Uh... These aren't the same character. The only ones who are the same character regardless of form is Sunset, Twilight SPARKLE, spike the dragon in the first two movies, the dazzling sirens, and one time only starlight. Twilight and Spike being the case only until the third movie. Just sayin. Everyone else is their own seperate character with similar quirks. Heck even human flash is more to him than the pony flash.

I will have to argue with your dislike for the reason for the Sirens. Even in mythology Sirens used their voices to draw people(Sailors) to them, albeit to their death, but still Sirens used their voices to gain attention to themselves. Wanting to be popular goes in hand with attention. Being popular helps gain attention and gaining attention means more food for the Sirens. The Sirens are creatures drived by attention and want(In some mythology). So really I think it makes sense.

16:29-16:32 You think Aria Blaze is forgettable? Try Sunny Flare from Friendship Games. At least Aria had enough dialogue for us to get a grasp on her character. Sunny only had 3 spoken lines, none of which told us anything about her. The only thing she has going for her is that she's supposedly Rarity's counterpart, but we're never shown anything that indicates she is. And no, using the term "dearie" in one of her few lines of dialogue doesn't cut it. She needs to actually do something for her to be considered a foil to Rarity. To put it in screenwriting terms: Show, don't tell.
Of the three dazzling, Aria is by far the most forgettable. I found myself having the same issue as Silver, not remembering her name. Adagio is the leader, and Sonata is the waifu/meme. Aria really didn't have anything to make her memorable.
When I first watched the movie with my son I thought of the dazzlings representing the same and when you go through their songs it makes perfect sense. I love it when this show gives us those little double sided songs

I am of the opinion that, once depowered, without the influence of her fellows, Sonata would probably be another friend-magnet like Pinkie Pie. She just... lacks that necessary malice. Of the three, it seems like she did her Siren stuff because it was in her nature, and with that nature gone, she'd be... happy to get along with pretty much anyone. She doesn't feel nasty. When she _is_ being nasty, it doesn't have the same feeling, and all subsequent showings of her in other EQG media seem to show her as bubbly as ever and probably less capable of malice without her Siren powers and nature.
Equestria Girls magic always felt very open with no information about it on purpose. On a writer's standpoint, it's an easy way of inserting magic in a high school setting while allowing magic to do whatever the plot demands it. In the commentary on I think either Rainbow Rocks or Friendship Games they mention their initial attempts to not have an explanation was something along these lines. But the idea that I get, that Friendship Games infers, is that the reason why magic has no real laws or limitations in the human world, is because magic itself is trying to figure it out as well. The impression they gave with magic in Friendship Games struck me as something like dropping a drop of ink in a glass of water. It stays there, does nothing before slowly spreading. Magic is an alien thing to this world, it doesn't have a place, it's entire existence in the human world came from Twilight's crown, the most powerful magical artifact in all of Equestria. But then Twilight and the others "ponied-up", and Sunset Shimmer mind controlled everyone. The magic spread. It left a footprint of sorts, and found its place among the students and faculty, thus why by just turning the student body against one another the Sirens gained power without even tapping into the Mane 6, which have the strongest concentration of magic. Them not telling about why they pony up when they play music is probably the same as why does Twilight have a brother and had an alicorn babysitter all of a sudden? It's sequel baiting for lack of a better phrase. Friendship Games tried to fill that gap and while the explanation isn't perfect, I always just see it as magic still adjusting into an alien environment. It's reality, weather controlling magic for ponies now in a world where men can do similar things with machines. In most magical settings magic already exists, it's a fundamental and primal part of life. Now magic is in a world where it doesn't exist. Last time the magic was pretty straightforward because it was bound to an item: the crown, and to a much weaker extent the Siren's jewels. Now the magic is spreading and gaining power. It's rules and limitations are continuously altering because the magic itself is changing drastically to adapt to this new environment, possibly becoming more powerful each time the Sunset Shimmer and the others use it.

I started watching your reviews around 2 weeks ago and can I just say, I love them, after seeing your review of Equestria girls, I admit, I couldn't wait for this review, and similarly I can't wait for the review of the friendship games and for reviews of some of the season 5 episodes.
Tbh, the shinning star of this film was easily sunset. I'll explain why. This movie was basically Sunset's moment as she was given a role, and some things couldn't have happened without her. For example, (Spoilers hehe) Sunset was the one who managed to find a way to contact Twilight. The Mame 6 couldn't have done it without her journal. She was also very encouraging to them, probably trying to make up for the Fall Formal. It was something I noticed while watching the movie. Also, she was the person who helped defeat The Sirens, and what really was amazing about that scene is because it feels as if without Sunset, they would have lost. And that's amazing. For a remdempted character, that was really good. Well done, Hasbro :D And another thing that was really awesome sunset was, as I mentioned before, tried to do her best to help them, despite feeling out of place with the huMane 6 and being practically hated by the school. The scene where she yeets herself to stop Rainbow from ponying up had her being humiliated, then she had to get hate from the huMane 6 as well. I sympathized with her, and I loved her character :D What do you guys think? Pls tell :D
I understood the first few slip ups, but nearly every time they're in a group together, the human mane 6 find a way to bring up sunset's past, dragging out the "no offense" so often that it becomes annoying and it breaks sunset every time.
Rewatching this video, when I got to the part about Aria Blaze being forgettable, I realized I can never remember her name either. I tried to recall it in that moment, and for half a second I was pretty sure her name was Ariana Grande.

I actually think that Sunset Shimmer's hair color was inspired by a flower. I saw a tulip once that had a striking resemblance to her hair color. Just a nice little thought.

If the lack of explanation about the rules of Equestrian magic really bothers you that much, there's a fic in AO3 called "Not The Hero". It's a clever and rather amusing story that presents some interesting ideas into the world of Equestria (or whatever the planet is called), including a rather humorously disturbing theory about Discord's past and it also shows an in depth look at Discord's psyche.

I personally like to think that the dazzelings want constant adoration , so they can constantly feed off the negative energy around them. Other than that, great review as always.
My personal explanation for EQG magic? The human world doesn't naturally have magic...except now it does. Magic's taking shape and anchoring itself in the world. The reason it doesn't seem to have rules is because it *doesn't* have rules...yet. Everything happening is *making* the rules for human world magic. And magically linked journals is hardly a new concept. I first read about such a thing in Terry Goodkind's "Sword of Truth" novels.
+TatsurouKaos Doctor Who Series 9 is doing something like that with ghosts, as far as the "they didn't exist until they did" concept goes. I support this theory.
+TatsurouKaos The biggest problem with that explanation is that there isn't even that many rules for magic in Equestria, either. It just does whatever for the sake of the plot with little to no explanation for how it may actually work. Here we are in the human world, but it's still Equestrian magic, and even now it's still not playing by any rules. I can accept the journals, but beyond that, we're just dealing with what essentially equates to magical nonsense.
Dragonpit I'm still waiting on Hasbro publishing "The Rules of Magic" companion book for MLP, covering the rules of magic in Equestria as they're presently understood. If they want to tweak it later, they can always add, "As magic is continually being studied and researched, and new discoveries are always being made, this book may not be entirely accurate at the time of reading. However, it can be considered a basis through which the magic of our world can be grasped." ...considering how well "Quidditch Through The Ages" and "The Monster Book of Monsters" sold for Harry Potter, it's only a matter of time.
Even though I am not a brony, I do enjoy your videos and their brand of humor so thanks for being awesome man. As for this, I think a single quote from George Bernard Shaw describes Sunset for this film: “The only man I know who behaves sensibly is my tailor; he takes my measurements anew each time he sees me. The rest go on with their old measurements and expect me to fit them.” - George Bernard Shaw, Man and Superman This review made me think about this quote I learned years ago and it spoke volumes. Considering this is the very thing she is. Judged exclusively by the past event by everyone. Whereas the Mane 6 are the tailors in a way in how they trust her, yet not fully until the end. So that is just my 2 cents.
I initially thought that the Dazzlings would end up being a "friendship" problem. If you listen to what they say they want and the lyrics of their songs, they want to be loved, adored, and refuse to be ignored. I thought that this would be interpreted that what they really wanted deep down was friendship, but they were going bout it the wrong way, or maybe didn't even realize that that's what they really wanted. Maybe in a future movie/special?
I think that the movie would have worked better if the writers had built off of that tension. I think that the Dazzlings should have started off as a race only feeding on the hate of others because of their literal need to eat to survive. Later, they should be talking about why Adagio is the leader. Or is it Aria? Whatever the yellow one is. And in that, they start the internal conflict that you had mentioned. The humane six attempt to have a fundraiser to help the school get rebuilt, and in that, they decide to have a friendly singing competition. In that, Celestia and Luna are very happy at that idea, and they give the go-ahead, but they make sure that they keep close watch on every student. The Dazzlings are enrolled into the school after they seduce Celestia and Luna into letting their guard down. After that, they see that the friendly competition was a bit more competition than anything else, and they change the name from that to battle of the bands as they sing the first song of the movie. They rile up the people just as before, and they are sustained for long enough to continue fighting. Sonata and Aria are both fighting to become the leader of the group as Adagio tells them why she should be the leader. Maybe she was born first, or she was the best at commanding them, idk. Sonata and Aria are still interested in becoming the leaders, and they start fighting themselves in that, not even focusing on Adagio, who tells them to keep it together for just a bit longer so they can survive. While this is happening, the humane six are attempting to write a song, and when they really focus, they are able to power up because their minds are connected to the elements of harmony. When those elements are used, they "pony up." (Disgusting phrase for it.) When this happens, pony Celestia sees the elements light up, and she tells twilight to see what is happening in the human world. Twilight decides to leave, but she can't have her friends join because they all power the portal together, and as soon as one leaves the portal closes. In that, twilight joins the human world, to find that the humane six are ponied up. Twilight wants to study this, but the others can't because they are about to debut in their first performance. Twilight tells them to keep the pony up thing from happening, and they abide by that. The Dazzlings appear on stage, and they are loved by all, and that love is being fought for, letting the negativity to be absorbed as sustenance. The the humane six see this, and they want to see what is happening. Twilight finds a book in the library about something related to what is happening, and she finds a book on the sirens, showing what they are doing. They come to a huge dilemma, as they don't want to starve them, but they can't let them feast on negativity. So, instead of just fighting them, they are trying to see what they can do to remove them of this feeding requirement. The Dazzlings are shown bickering again, and aria and sonata finally decide to leave the group, growing tired to adagio's "tyranny." The humane six see them and want to help then, but they don't want help, they just want to be separated. With that, sonata cannot harmonize with the others to feed on hatred, so she has to find the humane six to help her, as much as she regrets it. Adagio is doing fine, as her sustenance is fulfilled, and it feels her ego. Aria tries to find herself, looking for a way to popularize herself without appealing to the rest of the group, but she gives up, and finds herself back with sonata and the humane six. Adagio is alone, but she is able to do extremely well on her own. Her ability to feed and command the feeders is unrivaled, and the others still don't know how to get rid of her without killing her. Sonata and Aria say that the amulets are who the sirens are. Without some form of food, the best choice being hate, the sirens would die off. Twilight finally comes up with a solution, the sirens just need to not only feed on the hatred, but remove it too. Like making their own food, with people being the factories. This would allow them to eat and keep peace, letting people be calmed by their presence. They go into the final showdown, and Adagio is alone on stage, but she doesn't care, and makes a mind blowing performance. The others want to compete, but they can't, and they just have to talk. Adagio keeps trying to do her method of feeding, and she feels horrible being the leader and being told what to do, and she gets more aggressive until she finally turns into her true form, scaring the people, and slowly letting her starve. As the people run away, sonata and Aria feed on the fear, and make them calm again. Adagio is so hungry, that she moves to the others, and tries this new method. She agrees that if they are to be together, they can't have a leader, but rather a team of people to contribute. Obviously, there would be more, like the sunset ark, but it's two am, and I am too tired to write all of the subplots. Hope you enjoyed this, it took me about an hour to type this, because I'm on my phone.

When it comes to loose world rules or things not making sense in a film, I more think along the lines of the Nostalgia Critics editorial "When is it right to Nitpick?" Basically, if there's enough good character, story, environment, etc. in a film, the logical inconsistencies of it start to matter less and less. The first Equestria Girls doesn't have as much of all those things as Rainbow Rocks does, which is why so many more people are willing to buy plot holes in Rainbow Rocks and like it more then the first film, even though they both extremely stretch the audiences suspension of disbelief.
Giving the readers or audience less information is a common technique. You only tell them enough to get by otherwise you risk muddying everything up with unnecessary complexities. Keep it simple, keep it easy. This is a wide wide world and trying to explain or give it boundaries would be a very difficult task at best. Plus its mainly a kids show, so reasons are not needed.

Question for the fandom: when has twilight ever written a spell? We've seen her study, practice, and even finish spells but no where have I seen her actually write a spell of her own. *Legand of everfree next please!* Dazzling are my favorite as baddies. I like how as they get stronger? They seem to acquire certain abilities that are within the original range. Controlling a group's perception of hatred and hostility branches to mind control. They can't do this right away in canterlot high so they have to start with classic set ups which gradually integrate their magic. The consequences are balanced with what they gain - the more magic they use the more negativity they have to stir up or they die of starvation. Cold and clean cut but definitely makes more sense than left over magic lingering in the human based characters that can only be triggered via music. Yes I am aware that this is a metaphor for the groups "harmony" both literal and figurative but the fact that no one bats an eye at this is what keeps me from enjoying. This movie it actually pulled off the impossible for me - make pinke pie likeable!
A nice book to lead into the next movie is "Sunset Shimmer's Time To Shine" it brought out alot of ideas about the girls "Ponying up" as Sunset tries to learn why and how they do it without the Elements. Even in my rp the ponies need the element to use it's powers. But back on subject, this book helped me get ready for the "Friendship Games" and gave me an idea of what was happening in one of the Equestria Girls shorts.
The largest mystery that the trollish side of my mind just NEEDS to know about the Equestria Girls universe is this. Is there an equivalent to the Nightmare Moon story with Vice Principal Luna in that universe? Did Vice Principal Luna get jealous of her sister about something and end up getting suspended from her position at the school and then get her job back or even serve time? I have to know if Nightmare Principal Luna was a thing!!!!
I liked the version in the fanfic 7 Days in Sunny June; Luna went through a 'goth' phase when younger, wore a smoky wig & dark clothing, got in a fight with her sister, then ended up spending a week at a friend's house when Celestia broke her arm in said fight...

You think Aria Blaze is forgettable? Try Sunny Flare from Friendship Games. At least Aria had enough dialogue for us to get a grasp on her character. Sunny only had 3 spoken lines, none of which told us anything about her. The only thing she has going for her is that she's supposedly Rarity's counterpart, but we're never shown anything that indicates she is. And no, using the term "dearie" in one of her few lines of dialogue doesn't cut it. She needs to actually do something for her to be considered a foil to Rarity. To put it in screenwriting terms: Show, don't tell.
Of the three dazzling, Aria is by far the most forgettable. I found myself having the same issue as Silver, not remembering her name. Adagio is the leader, and Sonata is the waifu/meme. Aria really didn't have anything to make her memorable.

I am of the opinion that, once depowered, without the influence of her fellows, Sonata would probably be another friend-magnet like Pinkie Pie. She just... lacks that necessary malice.
Of the three, it seems like she did her Siren stuff because it was in her nature, and with that nature gone, she'd be... happy to get along with pretty much anyone. She doesn't feel nasty.
When she _is_ being nasty, it doesn't have the same feeling, and all subsequent showings of her in other EQG media seem to show her as bubbly as ever and probably less capable of malice without her Siren powers and nature.

Equestria Girls magic always felt very open with no information about it on purpose. On a writer's standpoint, it's an easy way of inserting magic in a high school setting while allowing magic to do whatever the plot demands it. In the commentary on I think either Rainbow Rocks or Friendship Games they mention their initial attempts to not have an explanation was something along these lines. But the idea that I get, that Friendship Games infers, is that the reason why magic has no real laws or limitations in the human world, is because magic itself is trying to figure it out as well.
The impression they gave with magic in Friendship Games struck me as something like dropping a drop of ink in a glass of water. It stays there, does nothing before slowly spreading. Magic is an alien thing to this world, it doesn't have a place, it's entire existence in the human world came from Twilight's crown, the most powerful magical artifact in all of Equestria. But then Twilight and the others "ponied-up", and Sunset Shimmer mind controlled everyone. The magic spread. It left a footprint of sorts, and found its place among the students and faculty, thus why by just turning the student body against one another the Sirens gained power without even tapping into the Mane 6, which have the strongest concentration of magic. Them not telling about why they pony up when they play music is probably the same as why does Twilight have a brother and had an alicorn babysitter all of a sudden? It's sequel baiting for lack of a better phrase. Friendship Games tried to fill that gap and while the explanation isn't perfect, I always just see it as magic still adjusting into an alien environment. It's reality, weather controlling magic for ponies now in a world where men can do similar things with machines. In most magical settings magic already exists, it's a fundamental and primal part of life. Now magic is in a world where it doesn't exist. Last time the magic was pretty straightforward because it was bound to an item: the crown, and to a much weaker extent the Siren's jewels. Now the magic is spreading and gaining power. It's rules and limitations are continuously altering because the magic itself is changing drastically to adapt to this new environment, possibly becoming more powerful each time the Sunset Shimmer and the others use it.
That's actually a really neat theory! I've never thought about it like that, but it makes sense.

I started watching your reviews around 2 weeks ago and can I just say, I love them, after seeing your review of Equestria girls, I admit, I couldn't wait for this review, and similarly I can't wait for the review of the friendship games and for reviews of some of the season 5 episodes.
Tbh, the shinning star of this film was easily sunset. I'll explain why.
This movie was basically Sunset's moment as she was given a role, and some things couldn't have happened without her. For example,
(Spoilers hehe)
Sunset was the one who managed to find a way to contact Twilight. The Mame 6 couldn't have done it without her journal. She was also very encouraging to them, probably trying to make up for the Fall Formal. It was something I noticed while watching the movie. Also, she was the person who helped defeat The Sirens, and what really was amazing about that scene is because it feels as if without Sunset, they would have lost. And that's amazing. For a remdempted character, that was really good. Well done, Hasbro :D
And another thing that was really awesome sunset was, as I mentioned before, tried to do her best to help them, despite feeling out of place with the huMane 6 and being practically hated by the school. The scene where she yeets herself to stop Rainbow from ponying up had her being humiliated, then she had to get hate from the huMane 6 as well. I sympathized with her, and I loved her character :D

I understood the first few slip ups, but nearly every time they're in a group together, the human mane 6 find a way to bring up sunset's past, dragging out the "no offense" so often that it becomes annoying and it breaks sunset every time.
Rewatching this video, when I got to the part about Aria Blaze being forgettable, I realized I can never remember her name either. I tried to recall it in that moment, and for half a second I was pretty sure her name was Ariana Grande.

15:24 my guess; is that when the sirens were banished they were separated from the negative emotional pony that gave them power. Rendering em powerless. Fast forward to the Sunset disaster that stirred up bad vibes in the nice town, where the sirens waited to feed on it.
If the lack of explanation about the rules of Equestrian magic really bothers you that much, there's a fic in AO3 called "Not The Hero". It's a clever and rather amusing story that presents some interesting ideas into the world of Equestria (or whatever the planet is called), including a rather humorously disturbing theory about Discord's past and it also shows an in depth look at Discord's psyche.

My personal explanation for EQG magic?
The human world doesn't naturally have magic...except now it does. Magic's taking shape and anchoring itself in the world. The reason it doesn't seem to have rules is because it *doesn't* have rules...yet. Everything happening is *making* the rules for human world magic.
And magically linked journals is hardly a new concept. I first read about such a thing in Terry Goodkind's "Sword of Truth" novels.
+TatsurouKaos Doctor Who Series 9 is doing something like that with ghosts, as far as the "they didn't exist until they did" concept goes. I support this theory.
+TatsurouKaos The biggest problem with that explanation is that there isn't even that many rules for magic in Equestria, either. It just does whatever for the sake of the plot with little to no explanation for how it may actually work. Here we are in the human world, but it's still Equestrian magic, and even now it's still not playing by any rules. I can accept the journals, but beyond that, we're just dealing with what essentially equates to magical nonsense.

This review made me think about this quote I learned years ago and it spoke volumes. Considering this is the very thing she is. Judged exclusively by the past event by everyone. Whereas the Mane 6 are the tailors in a way in how they trust her, yet not fully until the end.
So that is just my 2 cents.

I initially thought that the Dazzlings would end up being a "friendship" problem. If you listen to what they say they want and the lyrics of their songs, they want to be loved, adored, and refuse to be ignored. I thought that this would be interpreted that what they really wanted deep down was friendship, but they were going bout it the wrong way, or maybe didn't even realize that that's what they really wanted. Maybe in a future movie/special?
I think that the movie would have worked better if the writers had built off of that tension.
I think that the Dazzlings should have started off as a race only feeding on the hate of others because of their literal need to eat to survive.
Later, they should be talking about why Adagio is the leader. Or is it Aria? Whatever the yellow one is. And in that, they start the internal conflict that you had mentioned. The humane six attempt to have a fundraiser to help the school get rebuilt, and in that, they decide to have a friendly singing competition. In that, Celestia and Luna are very happy at that idea, and they give the go-ahead, but they make sure that they keep close watch on every student.
The Dazzlings are enrolled into the school after they seduce Celestia and Luna into letting their guard down. After that, they see that the friendly competition was a bit more competition than anything else, and they change the name from that to battle of the bands as they sing the first song of the movie.
They rile up the people just as before, and they are sustained for long enough to continue fighting. Sonata and Aria are both fighting to become the leader of the group as Adagio tells them why she should be the leader. Maybe she was born first, or she was the best at commanding them, idk. Sonata and Aria are still interested in becoming the leaders, and they start fighting themselves in that, not even focusing on Adagio, who tells them to keep it together for just a bit longer so they can survive.
While this is happening, the humane six are attempting to write a song, and when they really focus, they are able to power up because their minds are connected to the elements of harmony. When those elements are used, they "pony up." (Disgusting phrase for it.)
When this happens, pony Celestia sees the elements light up, and she tells twilight to see what is happening in the human world. Twilight decides to leave, but she can't have her friends join because they all power the portal together, and as soon as one leaves the portal closes. In that, twilight joins the human world, to find that the humane six are ponied up. Twilight wants to study this, but the others can't because they are about to debut in their first performance. Twilight tells them to keep the pony up thing from happening, and they abide by that.
The Dazzlings appear on stage, and they are loved by all, and that love is being fought for, letting the negativity to be absorbed as sustenance. The the humane six see this, and they want to see what is happening. Twilight finds a book in the library about something related to what is happening, and she finds a book on the sirens, showing what they are doing. They come to a huge dilemma, as they don't want to starve them, but they can't let them feast on negativity. So, instead of just fighting them, they are trying to see what they can do to remove them of this feeding requirement.
The Dazzlings are shown bickering again, and aria and sonata finally decide to leave the group, growing tired to adagio's "tyranny."
The humane six see them and want to help then, but they don't want help, they just want to be separated. With that, sonata cannot harmonize with the others to feed on hatred, so she has to find the humane six to help her, as much as she regrets it.
Adagio is doing fine, as her sustenance is fulfilled, and it feels her ego.
Aria tries to find herself, looking for a way to popularize herself without appealing to the rest of the group, but she gives up, and finds herself back with sonata and the humane six.
Adagio is alone, but she is able to do extremely well on her own. Her ability to feed and command the feeders is unrivaled, and the others still don't know how to get rid of her without killing her.
Sonata and Aria say that the amulets are who the sirens are. Without some form of food, the best choice being hate, the sirens would die off.
Twilight finally comes up with a solution, the sirens just need to not only feed on the hatred, but remove it too. Like making their own food, with people being the factories. This would allow them to eat and keep peace, letting people be calmed by their presence.
They go into the final showdown, and Adagio is alone on stage, but she doesn't care, and makes a mind blowing performance. The others want to compete, but they can't, and they just have to talk. Adagio keeps trying to do her method of feeding, and she feels horrible being the leader and being told what to do, and she gets more aggressive until she finally turns into her true form, scaring the people, and slowly letting her starve. As the people run away, sonata and Aria feed on the fear, and make them calm again. Adagio is so hungry, that she moves to the others, and tries this new method.
She agrees that if they are to be together, they can't have a leader, but rather a team of people to contribute.
Obviously, there would be more, like the sunset ark, but it's two am, and I am too tired to write all of the subplots.

When it comes to loose world rules or things not making sense in a film, I more think along the lines of the Nostalgia Critics editorial "When is it right to Nitpick?" Basically, if there's enough good character, story, environment, etc. in a film, the logical inconsistencies of it start to matter less and less. The first Equestria Girls doesn't have as much of all those things as Rainbow Rocks does, which is why so many more people are willing to buy plot holes in Rainbow Rocks and like it more then the first film, even though they both extremely stretch the audiences suspension of disbelief.
Giving the readers or audience less information is a common technique. You only tell them enough to get by otherwise you risk muddying everything up with unnecessary complexities. Keep it simple, keep it easy. This is a wide wide world and trying to explain or give it boundaries would be a very difficult task at best. Plus its mainly a kids show, so reasons are not needed.

Dazzling are my favorite as baddies. I like how as they get stronger? They seem to acquire certain abilities that are within the original range. Controlling a group's perception of hatred and hostility branches to mind control. They can't do this right away in canterlot high so they have to start with classic set ups which gradually integrate their magic. The consequences are balanced with what they gain - the more magic they use the more negativity they have to stir up or they die of starvation. Cold and clean cut but definitely makes more sense than left over magic lingering in the human based characters that can only be triggered via music. Yes I am aware that this is a metaphor for the groups "harmony" both literal and figurative but the fact that no one bats an eye at this is what keeps me from enjoying. This movie it actually pulled off the impossible for me - make pinke pie likeable!

A nice book to lead into the next movie is "Sunset Shimmer's Time To Shine" it brought out alot of ideas about the girls "Ponying up" as Sunset tries to learn why and how they do it without the Elements. Even in my rp the ponies need the element to use it's powers. But back on subject, this book helped me get ready for the "Friendship Games" and gave me an idea of what was happening in one of the Equestria Girls shorts.

The largest mystery that the trollish side of my mind just NEEDS to know about the Equestria Girls universe is this. Is there an equivalent to the Nightmare Moon story with Vice Principal Luna in that universe? Did Vice Principal Luna get jealous of her sister about something and end up getting suspended from her position at the school and then get her job back or even serve time? I have to know if Nightmare Principal Luna was a thing!!!!
