In France school is free. University is pretty much free. You can create a business freely. Freedom is real. I think that most of this muslims need a history lesson about land where they live. Secular state and separation between religion and goverment power are one of the greatest achievements in european history. Muslims should simply reform their religion in way we did in the past. This is a great point. What's often missed in discussions like this is that there is also a class factor at play, perhaps more salient than the religious-cultural factor.

I understand the french saying that immigrants need to adapt because it is their country. Then again, what happened when the french were conquering other countries? Did they adapt to their culture and religion? No, they imposed forcibly and raped the lands of their wealth to become what they are today. I wonder if they teach in schools what they did. I understand the logic, but in a brutal kind of way... The French conquered, they didn't migrate. Same for the Ottomans (converted the Bosnians and Albanians) and the Moors in Spain (Spanish forced converts back into the Christian faith after reconquest). The dynamic is different. If the Muslims conquered Europe then we would be having a different conversation, however European Muslims are mostly either economic migrants or refugees I believe.

Going back a little further, French, Portuguese, Spaniards, British were all there initially for trade.... or economic purpose, say for the East Indian Companies that were established to facilitate trade and exchange cultures. However, things took a bad turn and they colonised. Diamond and mineral mines in Africa have a similar story. Although trade and economic migrants cannot be put together but it is more deserving for traders to adopt the native culture than the migrants, especially when trading companies are established. And they started to infuse their culture and ways long before colonisation became a thing, considering it wasn't the motive from the beginning. About muslim conquering Europe, it really depends. You see, people like Vasco da Gama and Bartolomeu Dias had good intentions when they were establishing sea routes. It is those after their generation that really scrambled everything. Similarly, if it were the earlier Muslims from the time of the Caliphs, things would be different. However, if it were the likes of the Ottomans in Europe or the Mugals in India... it would be as you are speculating. Refugees is another story. There are a lot of factors acting.

@Lion 2 Well it's not true is it, there are Muslims and Christians living in the balkans. Bosnia converted because during the earlier /Middle ottoman empire it was easier to be Muslim than Christian due to state policy. (religious persecution and taxation) Bosnian peasants converted primarily rather than nobility because it was a way of social maneuverability/it was cheaper to be Muslim. If you were Christian you wouldn't have the same opportunities open to you if you were low born. For instance, like you said the Ottomans would take the eldest sons of Christian families but would leave Muslim families alone. Until later on, when the Janissary core was a prestigious position and not seen as Slavery as such. Bosnia today has Europe's largest native Muslim population, places like France have a higher Muslim population but they are almost entirely migrants or have a recent migrant background. I tried to present my point as objectively as I can for you. Edit: to summarise, no they did not force people to convert but they made it difficult for people to practice christianity. Based on the doc alone. I have mixed feelings. There were more important questions that were never brought up. Why are other religious minorities could assimilate but others cannot? I think that most of this muslims need a history lesson about land where they live. Then again, what happened when the french were conquering other countries? Did they adapt to their culture and religion? No, they imposed forcibly and raped the lands of their wealth to become what they are today. I wonder if they teach in schools what they did.

I understand the logic, but in a brutal kind of way... The French conquered, they didn't migrate. Same for the Ottomans (converted the Bosnians and Albanians) and the Moors in Spain (Spanish forced converts back into the Christian faith after reconquest). The dynamic is different. If the Muslims conquered Europe then we would be having a different conversation, however European Muslims are mostly either economic migrants or refugees I believe.

Going back a little further, French, Portuguese, Spaniards, British were all there initially for trade.... or economic purpose, say for the East Indian Companies that were established to facilitate trade and exchange cultures. However, things took a bad turn and they colonised. Diamond and mineral mines in Africa have a similar story. Although trade and economic migrants cannot be put together but it is more deserving for traders to adopt the native culture than the migrants, especially when trading companies are established. And they started to infuse their culture and ways long before colonisation became a thing, considering it wasn't the motive from the beginning.
About muslim conquering Europe, it really depends. You see, people like Vasco da Gama and Bartolomeu Dias had good intentions when they were establishing sea routes. It is those after their generation that really scrambled everything. Similarly, if it were the earlier Muslims from the time of the Caliphs, things would be different. However, if it were the likes of the Ottomans in Europe or the Mugals in India... it would be as you are speculating.
Refugees is another story. There are a lot of factors acting.

@Lion 2 Well it's not true is it, there are Muslims and Christians living in the balkans. Bosnia converted because during the earlier /Middle ottoman empire it was easier to be Muslim than Christian due to state policy. (religious persecution and taxation) Bosnian peasants converted primarily rather than nobility because it was a way of social maneuverability/it was cheaper to be Muslim. If you were Christian you wouldn't have the same opportunities open to you if you were low born. For instance, like you said the Ottomans would take the eldest sons of Christian families but would leave Muslim families alone. Until later on, when the Janissary core was a prestigious position and not seen as Slavery as such. Bosnia today has Europe's largest native Muslim population, places like France have a higher Muslim population but they are almost entirely migrants or have a recent migrant background. I tried to present my point as objectively as I can for you.
Edit: to summarise, no they did not force people to convert but they made it difficult for people to practice christianity. Not saying ottomans were the only power to practice religious persecution but it still doesn't excuse it.
