Great video as always, I dont use those knots but its worth a go to see the difference. 2 questions though
1 the "parachute dry" is that a klinkhammer? And if not whats the difference.
2 any techniques to get droppers to stick out more so as not to tangle? I know its probably my bad casting but anything else to help would be appreciated

The Klinkhammer was originally invented by Hans van Klinken a Dutch angler way back who predominantly fished for Trout Whitefish and grayling the original pattern was called Klinkhammer special which I believe was hatching midge pupa, there are many different patterns tied on the same principle as the original with the post to tie in the hackle and make the fly more buoyant, i.e Mayfly and many others. The best way to get the droppers to stick out more is probably the knot demonstrated, more likely your casting need a bit of fine tuning if I'm honest, good turn over is very important but i find when using 4 fly set up even in ideal conditions i have to constantly check my droppers for half hitches that throw themselves onto my droppers, I cannot fish with any knot in my leader it spooks me out! lol I do casting clinic if your ever interested ?

Great informative video as always. How do you think the knot strength of the droppers compares to the conventional 4/5 turn water knot. Great fly patterns.

I have used this knot all my life and it rarely lets me down, a lot of confidence in knots just like leader material I guess! I just like the presentation it gives you, but in answer to your question I would say it is equal to the water knot but I preferer the presentation it offers Steven , thanks for watching and if we can help you with anything just let us know?

Can we see some buzzer methods for small stillwaters please?

Will be good to do that one Trevor wrong time of the year really for buzzers but in saying that they do feed on the little blighters all year round! but the best time to do one would be in the spring really? anywhere you would like us to film in particular?

If anyone uses the 3/4 turn Water Knot and needs the dropper to stick out at 90 degrees here is a little tip... Firstly, make sure the dropper tag is the same as in this video, i.e. the tag should be from the mainline directed away from the rod tip. Tie the water knot, trim the short tag (facing back towards the rod), with your thumb/forefinger straighten the longer tag length away from the rod tip, then slide the tag up a little to form a loop just below the actual knot. Take the end of the tag line, wrap around the back of the mainline and through the loop just formed. Little bit of saliva and pull it tight so it butts up against the bottom of the water knot (the end away from the rod tip). This kicks the tag end out at 90 degrees. This is just an alternative if you like using a water knot thats all. Tight Lines.

@@leighpond5928 Another one that comes from the Coarse Fishing world when I used to fish double hooks, i.e. a single dropper and point hook and casting up to 100m. And I apologise if you already know this (which you will), but for the benefit of others that might not...
If you tie either a Blood Knot or Water Knot to join two pieces of line, trim both tags really short (leaving a mm or two like you do in this video). Now, take 12 inches of dropper material/line and form a twizzled loop of around 1 inch in one end. A twizzled loop is where you create a loop in the line and hold the two pieces of line and twist them both in the same direction - you end up with a stiff, boom like twizzled loop.
Overhand knot this to give a twizzled loop of about 1inch in length. Now, simply wrap this around the leader above the knot by taking the tag end of the dropper line, wrap it round the leader and through the loop at the other end of the dropper line. Bit of saliva and pull it down and tight against the top of the knot.
The twizzled loop creates a stiff boom that sits at 90 degrees to the Leader and massively helps reduce tangles, if you do get a tangle or twist in the line, 9 times out of 10 you can simply slide the dropper up the Leader away from the knot and straighten it out with you thumb/firefinger, slide it back down and you ready to go. In the worst case scenario you simply cut the dropper off and replace with a new one - no need to re-tie any Leaders/Knots. This approach was used in the Coarse Competitions I used to fish as it's so quick and easy to change to different diameters/lengths as you establish what the fish are willing to accept in order to get bites. I still have a complete set of spare droppers tied up ready to go in a variety of different diameters/strengths and materials.
There is one drawback, occasionally you might find the dropper has slid up the line, very rare but it does happen.
Not sure it's the best setup when top presentation is needed, but for general fishing it's not a bad setup.
