Well actually it's a traditional Finnish folk song that's over 300 years old (with lyrics written in the early 1930s by Eino Kettunen), which the Finnish band 'Loituma' made an a cappella performance in 1995. The flash animation called "Loituma girl/Leek spin" used the Loituma-version of the song and made the song famous in the internet in 2006. Vocaloids were released in 2007.You can even find this on Wikipedia.
@asakayosapro I couldn't find a nice and reliable MIDI editor on the Internet, and the program I used, which is also my best bet, is called PianoRollComposer (version 2.41). The interface is really simple, but I also have a few problems with it (may just be my com). 1) The "undo" function isn't 100% "undo" 2) Sometimes instrument changes don't work. 3) Notes don't stop "previewing" if you step it up or down 4) If you stop in the middle of song the notes keep playing 5) And a few others...
There is the original and the Vocaloid versions. Original is song by a group of Norwegins who wrote the song. The Vocaloid version had permission to use the song though they changed it around alittle but kept the wording the same.
@SnowLadyForever I thank you for correcting me. and you are right about their pronouncing vowels but vowels are not the only things that can't be pronounced but some letters like R and L are also hard for the Japanese to pronounce.
Me and my marching band friends used this with a a tuba, trumpet, clarinet, and flute. We stood outside of the local mall and played it for three hours, we were eventually kicked.
@ViaNovita You need the MIDI file in order to play it, which belongs to me (with no copyright :D). If you want it you can send me a PM with your email and I'll send it to you.
do you have the sheet music for this? i'm hoping to make a duet version of this for me and a friend to play, and it would be a lot easier for me to transpose this piece and create an arrangement if i had the sheet music
you are so close to getting this 100%, but there are a few out notes, the bass and syncopated riffs are fine, it's the lead that's not quite there, the notes for the ideal conditions of this song are C#, F#. G#, A, and E (in order of sequence in the main riff), give it a shot using those notes and the original as a base for it :D, other than that, amazing effort, well done :D
Guy: Vocaloid is an awesome video anime. DOnt take it from us. Take it from people who love Vocaloid Me: I first learned about Vocaloid when I was on a website. I looked this up cuz I really liked this song. VOCALOID WAS BORN TO ME :D Now Vocaloid is my life. GO VOCALOID. -silently- Len and Kaito are mine -deathstare-

@EssenceOfScience
I know, so when you added the little addies, it sounded slightly weird because they weren't harminous to anything
Good sound and work
@ugforthewin Vocaloid VERSION. It's not as if you can expect semi-robotic voices from a piano :)
I like it. Other that that it sounds like a flute. >XD
Super Space Man 34 it's hard if flute
awesome! could you maybe make a slowed down version? I'd like to try and learn it :)

So Great
@ugforthewin It was originally Loituma but they let the vocaloids use it
Yay back to normal! :)
Picturing Link playing this on his Ocarina.
@MarrickFait The Vocaloid version of the song doesn't vary the melody much.
wow this sounds like an ocrina LOL, good job link!
2 tabs open. This and Miku's Ievan Polkka. Playing at same exact time. Yes.
@ViaNovita You need the MIDI file in order to play it, which belongs to me (with no copyright :D). If you want it you can send me a PM with your email and I'll send it to you.
@MarrickFait
this is gonna take me forever to learn D:
LOVE IT :D
@MarrickFait Well, this IS a (simple) midi, and I'll have to admit that my computer's midi sound library is horrible.
At the right side, the dark orange bars are the eyes and the the dark blue are the mouths. Faces =D
do you have the sheet music for this? i'm hoping to make a duet version of this for me and a friend to play, and it would be a lot easier for me to transpose this piece and create an arrangement if i had the sheet music
@101pinkmelons I played this with my best friend XD I played the chords and she played the main bit

Guy: Vocaloid is an awesome video anime. DOnt take it from us. Take it from people who love Vocaloid

I know, but Miku's cover and the meme got it even more popular :P
MAKES ME THINK OF VOCALOID damnit
@littlerain72401 Maybe because it sounds a little bit like an Ocarina? :P
