  • Throughout the reign of King Henry VIII, there were around 70,000 people who were executed. Some of the most famous Tudor figures such as two of the King’s wives and even his closest advisor who caused chaos with religion made their way to the executioner’s scaffold. Thomas Cromwell was a man who uprooted religion and the dissolutions of the monasteries made the King very rich and the royal coffers were filled with the wealth of the English Catholic Church. Henry VIII even made himself the Supreme Head of the Church of England, and anyone who did not support his religious reforms could face the ultimate punishment themselves. There were very religious people who led peaceful lives who were tortured and brutalised in the most horrific ways possible. The story of a group of monks who lived in peace and tranquility inside of London but were ravaged by the King’s religious changes is a tragic one, and the Carthusian monks were devastated by Henry’s reign.

His reign was just under 40 years and he managed to kill about 1700 people a year. Starvation, torture, flat out murder. He was an animal

Not an animal! You discredit animals who only kill to survive. How about a cruel, dangerous human being!

Yet no one named him Bloody Henry like they named his daughter Bloody Mary. He slaughtered many more than she.

Mary & Co. took the throne by violence and force, then killed the queen. So, yeh that's not how you win hearts and minds. To continue her violent start she tripled down killing people that rejected the pope. No tears for her.

However, Mary was Catholic and Brits love to hate Catholics 'till this day.

Exactly, because women of course are always held to higher standards than men are because of the stupid patriarchy.

And europeans were shocked by aztec’s human sacrifices! Not only Henry VIII was this brutal and savage. During the colonial era, millions were executed, murdered or starved for the Empire’s glory. 🤢

Henry VIII was an evil monster--vile and disgusting as I would say that he was the worst ruler ever to sit on the English Throne.

No, he is not. Elizabeth the first was his last daughter and left no heir. The Royal family has Henry vii among their ancestors, Henry viii bloodline is dead

Not directly, but he does descend from Henry’s sister, Margaret.

Henry VIII vs Papacy is a no win game. Both committed crimes against humanity but only one is still venerated.
