This brings me back. The hype around this game was unreal at the time. Sure, more people might get excited for certain games today as the gaming hobby is bigger and more mainstream than ever, but I still think there was something about the anticipation for Halo 3 that hasn't quite been topped. It felt like a cultural event with all the effort being put into the ads like Believe and these live action ones, tie-in promotions, action figures, stores opening for the launch, launch parties, and the mainstream media coverage. I remember watching the hours long launch special on G4 TV.
This live action video goes to show how things would look if we were really in the Halo universe and how tough the Covenant really were and how the UNSC relied on Chief and the other Spartan II's as they were the toughest fighters humanity had. Even the Spartan III's were all lost on Reach except 1 meaning the UNSC was way outmatched.
Only 2 Spartan-III Squads were known to have died during the Fall of Reach; Noble and an unidentified squad on Tribute, with a total of 17 casualties. There were at least 3 other confirmed Spartan-III squads (Gauntlet, Red, and Echo Teams - confirmed to be Spartan-III's by "Canon Fodder") that fought on Reach and are currently unaccounted for. Assuming 6 people is the standard for Spartan-III squads, the Spartan-III casualties are too low for more than one of them to have died. Most Spartan-II's were gathered on Reach for Operation: RED FLAG, which accounts for so many of them dying on Reach, but the Spartan-III's were not part of that operation and most would still be spread out across UNSC space. Even without accounting for the fact that we never learned how many non-company Spartan-III's there even were, there were almost as many survivors after Reach as Spartan-II's.

That IS, in fact, the Chief at the end. THis is right before the start of Halo 3; that's him jumping off the Forerunner ship and back into the atmosphere. Those Marines were trying to get a tracking laser on him to track his trajectory.
The designer of the weapons for district 9, Greg Broadmore, visited our school about 11 years ago. His tell on how everything went down is that Peter Jackson was set to direct the Halo movie and everything was in pre-production. Enter Microsoft 343. They take over the Halo franchise and can the movie at the last second, which is why there is a functional Warthog on tour at some expos. And unfortunately they STILL have the Master Chief outfit locked away at Weta Workshop gathering dust. He politely refused to answer more specific questions.
That round that hit the ODST was from a Brute Spiker. A needler round would have exploded, possibly blowing a hole in the man. This whole thing I think was made in part by WETA workshop in New Zealand. They built that Warthog to be four wheel drive and all wheel steering or even crab walking (drives sideways). Its powered by an Isuzu I4 diesel.
An excellent short film. I can also definitely recommend the Halo 3 advertising campaigns that aired during the game's launch. They made a bunch of little like, History channel specials from marines about the conflict in a totally narrative style. "If there's a reason we're here... it's because of the Chief."
There's 2 live action Halo Movies, Forward onto Dawn, which is an introductory story for a key character in Halo 4. He should react to the other Halo 3 promo stuff. Anyone remember what the videos were called that had the veterans telling their stories from their time fighting the covenant?
One thing you must remember Spartans where extremely rare the UNSC forces primarily did the majority of the fighting without Spartan support whilst MC did save the universe he acted like intended a scalpel taking out the covenant leadership while he did the UNSC forces where literally on their own the majority of the war putting up one hell of a defence one that even some Sangeheli congratulated until the Great Schism when they found themselves in an uneasy truce fighting with the Elites against the Brutes. I recently played through the series and I had forgotten how much Great lore and universe building there was from the weapons especially the UNSC weapons lore there's ALOT to the covenant species and weapons it's so well connected. Little Trivia the Slipspace Drive that allows Humanity to travel through space was designed and created by a Japanese Scientist called Wallace Fujikawa and a British Scientist called Tobias Fleming Shaw they called it Shaw-Fujikawa Translight Engine.
I love how this trailer campaign every was perfect. This shows that the marines and ODSTs struggled but held their own but need the Spartans to hold off the numbers of the brutes and elites
So basically the shorts were about a group of marines or Drop Troopers risking their lives to aquire Master Chiefs coordinates so a recovery team can reach him (the start of Halo 3)

I highly suggest watching the Halo ODST live action trailer. It is only 3 minutes long, but in the video they portray glimpses into the recruitment, training and combat drop of an ODST.
I am hoping and praying the TV series captured that same gritty sense of survival. This is easily the best piece of live action Halo content I've seen in my 20 years of being with this series. Child's every damn time I see it!
If i'm not mistaken, the unsc has thousands of factories so they couldn't immediately change their equipment, like the warthog being in service for atleast 300 years.

Fun fact, did you know this battle takes place in the Afghan-Pakistani border during the Covenant's invasion of Earth? Not in real life though, in Halo Lore. I doubt they filmed it there.
The reason Halo 3's marketing is so good is because most of it's NOT all about the Chief, it's about the other people affected by the war. You should watch the other trailers as well, specifically the ones that are live action interviews with veterans of the battle for Earth. They're just as good as this, but less action-focused.

Hey mate. This isn’t about this particular video, but I just wanted to say a couple of things. First.... keep on being diverse in your videos... I found your channel because I was looking at Astartes reaction videos. 2nd...I think you and the wife traveling is an awesome idea! USA is a huge country and you can really see so much more by driving. I will always remember driving from Washington state to Virginia.... via Southern California.... I was in the Navy then...with my wife and my 2 daughters.... 1 year old and 1 month old...lol....Irish twins....lol. Anyway.... we had made it to Oklahoma and it was apparent that I was super stressed.... we were at a restaurant and the hotel did not have our room ready for us..... I left the restaurant to check on the room as the family finished the meal...when I came back the meal tab had been picked up by another patron. The waitress literally said.... It’s already been taken care of. I hope you and your wife have a great time and a wonderful adventure! I truly love the fact that you are so open with not only your successes, but some of your struggles. I am a retired US Navy Chief. My first job after the military was as a contractor in Afghanistan...... for 4 years ... with the US Marines.... working on CREW systems... Counter RCIED Electronic Warfare jammers. Vehicle and portable man packs. And while I ended up physically fine.... I do have other problems. I was at Camp Bastion/Leatherneck when it was attacked around the time when Prince Harry was there. As far as the Royal Marines... lol... I first ran into them in 1995.... in Jebel Alli..... we were all drinking and a couple of them said a few rude things..... I stood up.... lol... and one of the older Sailors said to me.... pardon my language on this.... lol.... he said.... sit back down.... those are Royal Marines.....”They would rather fight than fuck”! Lol. Cheers mate. Sorry for the long message, but I wanted to let you know that I am wishing the best for you and the wife!
Also you should react to the Changing of the Guard Ceremony for the Tomb of the Unknown. It’s a really amazing thing and I think you would like it. There are also history videos of it!
Sierra 117 is the ID of the master chief. This video shows the soldiers getting a trajectory of the chief so they can get a hold of where the chief was going to land
there was a james cameron movie in the works, but that got cancelled. it basically followed the same premise as district 9, in halo a marine wouldve gotten aiien arm powers and wouldve eventuallly culminated in a space battle where he wouldve destroyed covanant ships. but that idea eventaully got closed out.
Explanation: The ODST team was sent in to pick up a guidance package to track Chief's entry so they would be able to know precisely where he was going to land for the start of Halo 3. Presumably the Marines were originally given this task while already on the ground, but they were ambushed and/or cut off, so UNSC dropped a few ODST's from orbit with the primary objective of grabbing the package and gaining a clear line of sight on Chief's vessel so they could track his trajectory and figure out exactly where to find him once he landed, because the Covenant would-and was-right behind them looking for the exact same thing. Had the ODST's failed here, it's possible the Covenant would have found Chief before the UNSC did.
Steven Spielberg was attached to this Halo movie that was never made with Neil Blomkamp. Blomkamp made District 9,Elysium and Chappie. And of course we all know the legendary Steven Spielberg.

There is a Halo Movie, Forward Unto Dawn that came out in preparation for Halo 4, not everyone likes it, I personally enjoyed it myself, but not everyone does.
He should react to the other Halo 3 promo stuff. Anyone remember what the videos were called that had the veterans telling their stories from their time fighting the covenant?
HALO: Forward Unto Dawn and Halo:Nightfall are movies you can currently watch on RUclips
I haven't seen this in so long. Brings back memories, glad to see you reaction.
This is what we wanted when halo legends dropped
Every time I see this it reminds me of just how nasty the brute weapons are. The spiker in particular.
Yea it’s literally shooting near-molten spikes of metal
I remember watching this as a kid and I was very scared of the Brutes. Oh, how times have changed.
Now they are scared of you

I love how this trailer campaign every was perfect. This shows that the marines and ODSTs struggled but held their own but need the Spartans to hold off the numbers of the brutes and elites
The Movie "Forward Untill Dawn" is the connection between Halo 3 and Halo 4 I would highly recommend watching it before starting Halo 4.
Halo 3 probably had the best marketing for any game I've ever seen.
ODST and Reach did pretty well too.
So basically the shorts were about a group of marines or Drop Troopers risking their lives to aquire Master Chiefs coordinates so a recovery team can reach him (the start of Halo 3)
Want more Halo live action? Forward Unto Dawn.
Dayum.... this takes me back to my freshman year of college bruh. Still better than what Paramount did to such a good story. Thanks for reacting!!! God bless.
Your Tongan friend from the US.
The Halo live actions trailers are AWESOME

There is a live-action Halo movie called Forward Unto Dawn which follows a bunch of academy cadets who are attacked by the Covanant.
Halo Landfall has made me pray for a high budget Halo movie for like the past 15 years.
Halo 4: Forward unto Dawn
@@scarthefox3137 more or less, we suspected to see more spartan action tbh. But for now, we got what was made and it's fine by me
"if the halo tv show is anything like this I'll be more than happy"... little does he know :(
I highly suggest watching the Halo ODST live action trailer.
Bro...
Another halo movie out there that you can watch is Halo Forward unto dawn. If you were interested. It’s a live action movie instead of a trailer.
If i'm not mistaken, the unsc has thousands of factories so they couldn't immediately change their equipment, like the warthog being in service for atleast 300 years.
Please do a video as well of the Halo 3 Believe commercials. The diorama documentary really makes you feel immersed in the universe like everything really happened
That thing that many of the soldiers get hit by isn’t from the needles but is from the weapon that many of the brutes used called the Spiker.
Fun fact, did you know this battle takes place in the Afghan-Pakistani border during the Covenant's invasion of Earth? Not in real life though, in Halo Lore. I doubt they filmed it there.
Hey luke there is a live action Halo full length movie, it's called Halo 4forward unto Dawn
Actually it's all free on RUclips
Thanks luke, wish you and your family Great! Luck on your upcoming trip.
There is a halo movie called forward unto dawn. Has chief in it too.
The reason Halo 3's marketing is so good is because most of it's NOT all about the Chief, it's about the other people affected by the war. You should watch the other trailers as well, specifically the ones that are live action interviews with veterans of the battle for Earth. They're just as good as this, but less action-focused.
Honestly everything about the lead up to Halo 3 was a perfect storm of awesomeness, I'm not sure anything has come even close since, the mid 2000's was kind of a golden age.
Right now it feels like we're in the midst of another gaming crash, hopefully in a few more years things will reach those legendary heights again
If this got you hyped, the Believe trailers will certainly impress.
Can you watch Deliver Hope also? It’s really good and they made an actual elite costume for the trailer
I've come back to this short film so many times since it came out, really sick to see your take on it man
Hope you are doing well mate 🤙🏼
there was a james cameron movie in the works, but that got cancelled. it basically followed the same premise as district 9, in halo a marine wouldve gotten aiien arm powers and wouldve eventuallly culminated in a space battle where he wouldve destroyed covanant ships. but that idea eventaully got closed out.
If you haven’t yet, you should react to red vs. blue
Don’t worry it took me years to realize the thing falling from the sky was Chief too.
Sierra is a designation for all spartans, Sierra 117 (chief) Sierra 259, Sierra 104 etc
There is a decent halo movie, called forward onto dawn.
Just watching this makes me wish we got a gritty Halo war game. Like plying as a soldier or odst in a war zone.
Explanation:
The ODST team was sent in to pick up a guidance package to track Chief's entry so they would be able to know precisely where he was going to land for the start of Halo 3.
You should react to USS William D Porter The Unluckiest Ship in the Navy by The History Guy. Definitely one of the strangest stories of WWII. The Sam O Nella video is funny, but leaves a lot of important context out and takes rumors as facts.
this is from one of my favorite directors, Niel Blomkamp! You should check out his sutff and youtube. his studii makes cool military and sci fi shorts
You should watch the other live action Halo trailer like ODST "We are ODST", Reach "Deliver Hope" and Halo 3 Believe campaign trailer. There is a lot of emotion in these trailers and made me feel disappointed that a Halo movie was not made.
Don’t worry if halo gets very very very popular maybe one day a movie will be made
It'd be awesome to see your reaction to the Halo "Believe" Campaign with the in-universe interviews.
There are a couple of Halo live action films. Halo: forward unto dawn & Halo: Nightfall. Reactions to them would be great to see.
Not all of Halo is about Master Chief! You gotta appreciate my boys the UNSC Marines and ODSTs, you gotta appreciate the underdogs, the little troopers that could.
