Everybody's talking about how celes and other characters aren't here but nobodys talking about how the v3 characters aren't the list, the most known character from v3 is kokichi with 3-4 million and he isnt on the list😭

@ANYA MEYER Definitely not the top 3. Monokuma is the main mascot of the series and Junko made it to Guinness World Records for being the most cosplayed character ever. Nagito is so popular that even people who don't know Danganronpa will recognize him a lot of the time. Kokichi does have a chance to go above Chiaki though.

Danganronpa 1 came out in 2010 for the psp in japan only. I find it interesting that there favorite character was hina for the longest time and then suddenly junko becomes popular in 2013 when the game was released on mobile.
2013 was when the anime came out, that's the reason.
2013 is when the anime came out, and when the first fan translation got popular as well. There was a meme when the fan translation hit involving her that I feel causes the searches to go huge. So basically it's because of the English speaking fans.

@@genox7185 Maki, Miu Kaede and koichi and all of the other popular v3 characters are probably right below where this list ends if shuichi made it that far, but will never top the others, unless V3 got an anime or something.
Since all the characters on here appeared in anime form as well and some didn't even play the games, look like UDG didn't make it either. Anime reaches a broader audience to people that don't and can't play games. And casuals tbh. Lots of cosplayers like Junko and don't know her probably.
I doubt its because anime. It's definetely because v3 only had three years, and Trigger Happy Havoc has had a whole decade to rack up searches. Ishimaru didn't make it because he's not an interesting character. Gundham wasn't sexy enough(sex appeal is probably why sdr2 characters made it.)
