These sad incidents showed the level of hunger in the land. When the masses protested, they were arrested and charged. What a sad time in Nigeria's history.
The tragic loss of lives due to a stampede driven by abject poverty in the land...people are hungry! This crisis underscores the urgent need for accountability and immediate action to address the root causes of poverty. This is not just a failure of governance but a failure of humanity. This is painful and sad😭😭😭
' it happens because no consequence for any action' if not organiser would have conduct A proper way. In 2002 rice was like 1,500 per bag' if you want to share it you will see crowd of people will still go. My point is proper conduct is needed in any occasion.

It has not been this worst in the history of Nigeria. The holy book says when the righteous rules the people rejoice but when the wicked rules the people mourn, the people groan. This is exactly what is happening in Nigeria today. May God help us. May the departed find solace in the bosom of the Lord.😢😢😢😢😢
Vice President Shettima is leaving in his 21 billion mansion house, less than one year later, more than 50 Nigerians dead, and many more injured scrambling for food. If this alone is not denigrating Nigeria, I don't know what else. President Tinubu and his sycophants will claim that Nigeria is not the only country with poverty issues. Truly, poverty is universal, but the reality is that many in places, even the poor, can afford their own food and electricity or are sponsored by the government. All the critics expected Mr Tinubu to narrow his goals to food production and electricity generating and distribution. Instead, he bought an airplane flying all over the world looking for investors and denigrating Nigeria. For Tinubu's sycophants, one thing is certain, foreign investors will not grow the food Nigerians need.
When Kemi Badenoch spoke truth to power, pointing out the rot in the Nigerian system some ignorant Nigerians called her names. Yes, there is poverty in every part of the world. What differentiates Western countries from corruption infested countries like Nigeria is that money that should have been used to cushion the effects of poverty is stollen by the few privileged in Nigeria. May the soul of the departed rest in peace.
If people are able to purchase rice for themselves they would not go for palliatives. The cause remains bad government, Tinubu and the vice president are buying new presidential jets and yacht and Nigerians cannot buy ordinary food to eat.
I commend all the points reeled out by the anchors but I was stunned that none of them said anything about the indiscipline-nature of the average Nigerian that triggers stampedes. Thirty-one years ago, when Buhari and Idiagbon took over the leadership of Nigeria, they recognized that the politicians were from the people and mirrored the people’s idiosyncrasies at the micro level. In other words, almost every Nigerian is an in-waiting thieving politician, only separated from acting out the thieving by the absence of opportunity. This spurred the War Against Indiscipline (WAI). It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to assert that 99% of stampedes is caused by people trying to cut the line or attempting to get multiple rations, but getting opposed by those who uncovered the dishonesty. If all of these measures recommended here, especially those of Sheyitan’s, were implemented, there would still be stampedes as long as the citizenry shows no regard for orderliness. Above all, who would bother with giving palliatives if organizing it would financially cost more than the did the actual palliatives? Often, Nigerians get away with irresponsibility by blaming the leaders. The leaders are from the people, both are responsible for a healthy Nigerian society. How difficult is it to not scramble for more bags of rice when others haven’t gotten any? How difficult is it to proceed only when called and to leave when directed? I write from experience; anyone who has engaged in helping out struggling folks will confirm what I have written here - the mentality of Nigerians must embrace discipline again, else there will always be stampedes under these circumstances, even if you deploy battalions of soldiers. We volunteered and distributed palliatives to New Yorkers during the COVID-19 shutdown; not once did we witness a stampede. Hunger doesn’t cause stampedes, indiscipline does.
The reality is that the government of the day has failed Nigerians and there's massive hardship in the land. Only if this government would have a rethink and restore fuel subsidy, the crisis of hardship in Nigeria would reduce.
My friend, hunger causes stampede. Hunger is only the tip of the iceberg called Abject poverty. We are not talking about the common urge we feel to eat something when we are said to be 'hungry'. The hunger that propelled those people to those deadly charity venues is borne out of hopelessness. Many of them saw those opportunities as their last hope of clinging to dear life. Unfortunately they lost their lives. Blame them not. Let's thank God you and I are not in that situation.

This is a great conversation you are having here. God bless you! I was in the UK recently and joined to organise an event that will involve a large crowd, that was when I know that we are just existing in Nigeria by chance and that developed countries don't take anything for granted. There were a lot of checklists, certifications, competences etc that must be in place depending on the number of people expected before such gathering is approved to hold. Some of them includes survelance, ambulances, fire, police services, markings, even choppers etc. depending on the area and size of the crowd. Until we establish this type of things and enforce it, seeing this type of issue will be inevitable, it will just be a matter of time.
How much was dollar to Naira when Buhari and ok power?. Nigeria operate federal system, when are we going to start holding State government accountable?State government get money every month, what are they doing with the Money?
@@007alztruliBy subsidising agriculture products, empower farmers, buy their products and sell markers for a little less than import price, a lot can be done. Also we need to build industries to create employment, subsidize transportation by providing alternative government buses to ease intercity transportation. Reduce government spending, Tax the rich to provide basic amenities for the vulnerable. It's not rocket science to be honest.
There are Hungry people everywhere in the world, the humane or shameful ways each Country employs to address making food available to its downtrodden masses makes the difference.. Do you that in some sane climes, NGOs, beside setting up free food centres for the needy, they undertake free food supplies to the individual home of those who can't make it to the free food centres. Until organisers of events that claimed lives of innocent Nigerians due to gross negligence of very important safety measures are charged with MANSLAUGHTER, these ugly and sad death incidents will not stop. 13:44
@@nurex9029 Unfortunately you, like too many other Nigerians, will probably never learn. Always looking for the government to control this and subsidise that. The ridiculous inefficiency and corruption and massive debt you've seen from all these places the government is putting their hand in is not enough for you? The main work of the government should be to focus on things like security and enforcing laws, creating enabling environment for businesses to thrive, and fighting against unfair practices like monopolies. If they were doing these things, we wouldn't be in the mess we are today. To be fair though, I think you do have several good points which I can agree with you on, but unfortunately the person in the initial comment was probably not talking about any of the things you mentioned. He was almost certainly implying that government should control the price of food items which would have extremely severe consequences.
There are hungry people all over the world, but not as much as we have in Nigeria; let's be sincere with ourselves. What's our poverty index compared to Western countries?@@samuelelujoba1840
Very true, it's like orderliness isn't a vocabulary we understand in Nigeria. Even as road users. One of the causes of traffic in lagos is also lack of orderliness. Its really heart breaking😢
The fact remains that there is hunger in the land, the Nigerian custom organize to sell rice at a reduced price, yet people still died. You will agree with me that the customs must have taken percussion yet people died.
Very simple. They could set up the perimeters properly, such that all the crowd won't be in one open space. Also, they could do the registration online and give out appointment dates for collection. For example, 100 people could be told to come on December 20, and another 100 on December 21.
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭I’m literally crying. God help me please. Our president rigged his way to power but has little to nothing to offer citizens except untold hardship. May God help us all.
Why must people have to die senselessly in Nigeria for nothing. Publicizing "giving" is SENSELESS, because blessings come from above. There are global practices in palliative giving, but once anything normal comes to 9ja, wahala must dey. Government need to ban these practices until established due diligence protocol is in place. See how women and children are dying in hungry stomach 😢
Does it still make sense to rail against Kemi Badenoch for telling the truth about Nigerian leadership (not the helpless public, which includes the poorly-paid police and military)? May the souls of the deceased rest in peace.
The point for Kemi Badenoch is that, she is campaigning in a country and when asked questions, she uses Nigeria that is unrelated to the question to answer. When Davido talked I supported him because the question was about Nigeria.
Meanwhile, someone up there on this government wears a 150k dollars Patek Philippe wrist watch. He doesn't have any business background. He's not from a rich home. He's just being a politician. 😢😢😢😢

OH Nigeria, 50 lives lost over rice shearing. May the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen, Palliatives indeed can not cure poverty. Government should alleviate poverty and not inflate poverty. The Government of Nigeria is inflating poverty on her citizens
I see a country where people are ready to take 500 naira to vote against their conscience. Do not blame the people who take such little money, they are helpless. These people need help from all us to salvage the system. I am not just seeing the stampedes across Nigeria at this moment, but the economic implications in our electoral processes. If things continue like this, I am afraid, the future is so bleak.
This has always been my point.Poverty is an instrument in the hands of the wicked politicians, and the people might not have a choice except most people in diaspora decide to come together in various ways to help instead of being on social media abusing the helpless people.
It's not an issue of Crowd control. It's an issue of hunger control. Bin a philanthropist is now a crime. The first person that should be arrested for this incident is the President followed by the Senators. We cannot have people running a failed government and the issue is blamed on individuals who are trying to do the things that government cannot do for the people.
Am very heart broken, all the time is bad news here and there, a gr8 country like Nigeria, blessed with many minerals and human resources in 21st century is still struggling, what a shame😢 😢
This is something people do every year out of the magnanimity of their hearts. This year just shows you the level of hunger - people are weak!!!! This is crazy! What is the meaning of this??
The presenter in 21:33 says, "in US, crowds are told where exits are at major events". Ummm! Our obssession & constant comparisons with foreign countries where things work is part of the major mental blocks holding us back. What actually does work in Nigeria? When Nigerians stop looking into the mirror & placing themselves side-by-side normal societies; look inwards at their situation & find solutions, they will continue in their fools' paradise of endless suffering.
A friend of mine went to a police station yesterday that he wants to organize a charity event where he'll give out palliatives, the police asked him to provide the sum of 150k for 100 percent security and protection... Where are we going Nigeria?
They have to arrest the governor as they arrested Queen Naomi. The law that made them arrest Queen Naomi is the same law for governor so he should be arrested too
Food stampede, should be seen as a failure on the side of the government. Let's call a snake by it's name . This government has failed and remains a failure to the Nigerian society. Too sad
It's heartbreaking to witness the tragic loss of lives due to stampedes during the distribution of rice. The widespread hunger in the nation is devastating, and seeing such suffering in my country brings me to tears. Leaders should fear Allah and do what is right to safeguard lives; they need to do more to prevent such tragedies.
Simply put, there is hunger in the land. FG should do something about reducing the price of PMS. We have Dangote refinery now, so, the FG should give special rate for supply of crude to the refinery.
It is a very sad event indeed and the Nigerian leaders must learn from this by finding a lasting solution to the nation's dwindling economy for the citizens to be able to fend for themselves instead of palliatives that people are dying unjustly because of the serious hunger in the land. May the souls of the innocent Nigerians that died rest in peace.😭😭😭
And this Government saying we should not complain????? God must surely punish every Wicked politicians who have turned Nigerians to situation. Their family should be ashamed of them all.
This is so heartbreaking, I pray for the families of those who tragically lost their loved ones. Nigerians shouldn't die while collecting palliatives. The government should urgently do something about the economy, so that food items would significantly be affordable for Nigerians. Clearly these reforms are not working, the government should take alternative routes to economic recovery.
This indicates that there's too much hunger in the land. Everyone is looking for FREE MEALS now!!! I'm a testament to this. Due to inability to sustain my rents again I have no choice but to relocate from Lagos to Ogun State. As if that's not enough, I did all I could to get a white collar job but all efforts proved abortive. Feeding myself and my family becomes impossible. Just two Fridays ago I did what I have not done before since the last 42 years of my life!!! My family and I went to queue for Free Food in a church hosting a program nearby 😭😭😭😭. APC government has destroyed so many lives. THE TRUTH IS BITTER!!!
This is very first in history when the call for palliatives claimed lives due hunger in Nigeria. God will never forgive our leaders for the death of those innocent children. A bag of rice now sold for 145000 ?
Nigeria population 1979-83 was about 65-76 million late president Shagari projected food's for 120million today we're over 250million government doesn't know what the population can eat if we're eating two times a day do the calculations
When AriseTv conducted the Poll on what people want for Christmas.. The final result show that people want good governance. But for me I disagree that poll result then. The recent stampede shows that people need Rice, food. That should be the final result of that Poll.
Pls the leaders of Nigeria should do better. The citizens of Nigeria are suffering, these giveaways didn't start today and we never had these problems .
May the Lord judge the people in charge of Nigerians money and making Nigerian people to suffer. I sent 250k to my sister to buy food for my mother, after buying a bag of rice at 85k, money has finish. This got me thinking that if 250k could not buy anything, how about the other Nigerians who doesn't have people to help them. How many typical Nigerians can afford 250k for food stuff shopping this time in Nigeria? God have mercy.

God have mercy! I can't stop the tears.....!
Until we establish this type of things and enforce it, seeing this type of issue will be inevitable, it will just be a matter of time.
our leaders don't care because their miserable children are not hungry
@@segunoyeleye6889 spot on.
Besides hunger is major problem and cost of living and inflation is very high, government should please prevent this
God will punish Tinubu
Amen😢
Nigeria is being published already 😢
Probably, but God might very well punish you along with him for your other sins.
Only Tinubu ?
All previous presidents, dead or alive. Including governors and ministers, etc.
Nigeria has been a mess for the past 50 years.
How much was dollar to Naira when Buhari and ok power?. Nigeria operate federal system, when are we going to start holding State government accountable?State government get money every month, what are they doing with the Money?
There is hunger in the land. People are crying, begging and pleading to the government to make foodstuffs cheap but the government didn't listen.
Make foodstuff cheap how?
There’s hunger in the land. This is sad & so unfortunate
Learning how to properly line up will help as well. You cant make chaos a norm.
We don't learn from failures in Nigeria. This happened in the West, yet we waited for it to recurve in the East and North. It's sad.
Which necessary procedure do you want the organizer to put up.
This is heart wrenching.
E no go better for tinubu and all the politicians in this country, Amen!!!
There's high hardship in Nigeria. A bag of good rice N108,000. Just a chicken, N20,000. What a country? Bad policies
Meanwhile, someone up there on this government wears a 150k dollars Patek Philippe wrist watch. He doesn't have any business background. He's not from a rich home. He's just being a politician. 😢😢😢😢
As an IOSH holder, we believe that, for the fact something has not happened before does not mean it can't happen.
The hunger in the land is just too much 😢
Meanwhile, where's the #90 billion subsidy from the FG for Christians during this Xmas season? Muslims got #90 billion subsidy from the FG for their hajj. I'm yet to hear of such an arrangement for Christians.
Scam is the answer

The pastor is holding the money for you don't worry he was send by your half man half God 😂 nonsense the Roman&Greek pagan taught you. Go to church dance & sing it should do the mircle & the holy ghost will have the answer.😉
Just imagine going to find food and getting trampled in a stampede. Nigerians have suffered.
It's so so sad brother! We have greatly degenerated so bad.
I thought some people from the east say, they aren't affected by this bad government, the earlier we wake up and realize every tribe is affected
For three stampedes to take place in a matter of days, it demonstrates a lack of effective policy enshrined in laws of health & safety planning ⚖️
True talk
This has always been my point.Poverty is an instrument in the hands of the wicked politicians, and the people might not have a choice except most people in diaspora decide to come together in various ways to help instead of being on social media abusing the helpless people.
It's not an issue of Crowd control. It's an issue of hunger control. Bin a philanthropist is now a crime. The first person that should be arrested for this incident is the President followed by the Senators. We cannot have people running a failed government and the issue is blamed on individuals who are trying to do the things that government cannot do for the people.
@@okechukwuoji832 but unfortunately it will never happen in the zoo, so sad.
❤ well spoken Steve
I live overseas and the government here takes better care of their pets than do Nigerians from their government.
Some of the deaths are because people are weak, hungry and sick so they can't withstand some pressure.
T-pain is a curse to Nigeria. God punish him
There is Poverty in the Land.
Nigeria has the highest number of poor people in the world and it’s beginning to show on the streets.
Wow the people still took the food home. May God help us.
A friend of mine went to a police station yesterday that he wants to organize a charity event where he'll give out palliatives, the police asked him to provide the sum of 150k for 100 percent security and protection... Where are we going Nigeria?
They have to arrest the governor as they arrested Queen Naomi. The law that made them arrest Queen Naomi is the same law for governor so he should be arrested too
First time Steve is talking sense and not sentimental
Sad, more sad is knowing the fact that many will still go ahead and vote the same set of politicians responsible for this pathetic situation
This is so sad and heartbreaking 💔 💔💔💔💔
Arise seyi is the one representing his father now God will judge tinubu and his family o
Ojy l feel ur pain.
When the righteous is on the throne, the people will rejoice. Thank God the Westerners are in power.
Davido a Kemi Badenoch have been vindicated. Those who criticised them should bow their heads in shame. Is this Nigeria? Lord have mercy.
I'm surprised that this Arise man is talking like this because he's a die-hard supporter of BAT and APC
Maybe he is having a rethink about his support of this evil regime.
Please how about these distributors take to houses to give them or give to each community at there local square etc
This is very first in history when the call for palliatives claimed lives due hunger in Nigeria. God will never forgive our leaders for the death of those innocent children. A bag of rice now sold for 145000 ?
and children is 25k
This confirms that Nigeria 🇳🇬 is a giant of hunger nd starvation 😢
May Nigeria not happen to any of us
Nigeria population 1979-83 was about 65-76 million late president Shagari projected food's for 120million today we're over 250million government doesn't know what the population can eat if we're eating two times a day do the calculations
REVOLUTION REVOLUTION REVOLUTION!!!
The only way
When has this ever happened in Nigeria. According to Akpabio, the government is going well 🤦
21 Billion spent on a house someone hardly sleep in . Imagine what that can do for the poor
When I came to America 25 years ago I was working as a valley. But sometimes people use the valet to control the crowd
Xmas to remember, our people were not organise
@Kashim Shettima. This is your greatest country in Africa.
This is a sad moment in our nation history
Even in war time hunger is a no no.
Nigeria my country. God deliver us from ourselves.
