    The absolute mishandling of this entire X men run after 2021 needs to be studied. Its shocking Marvel didnt either pay Jonathan Hickman enough or couldnt be bothered to find someone willing to game his story out to its natural end.
    This was arguably a bigger disappointment than one more day.

    • @kei2kei
      @kei2kei 6 месяцев назад +18

      Hickman was not really meant to stay that long; he was meant to revitalize the interest in the X-men. And he did so successfully. But when you let the comics editorial be overridden by the MCU bigwigs (even if they are comic fans/enthusiasts), this is what happens. This has happened before. With Claremont. With Byrne. With Busiek. Even with Morrison. The SIDE that makes the most money dictates the evolution of the other side.
      But yes, I agree, it is a disappointment. But not as much as Spider-man: One More Day.

      The real issue was Hickman got kicked out because they wanted to milk the Krakoa-era and editorial decided to stop him from finishing the story with his original and far better ending. Which shows the hypocrisy and double-standards of Krakoa's mutants.

    Hickman known for disliking the MCU. And the main reason for that is because comics are inspired by movies and not the other way around.
    So him creating the "Krakoa era" was because he wanted make something special, something different, something that would inspire the future movies and comics for ages to come. And it was so beautiful!!
    And now, seeing how it's all end... man, I don't know if there is enough words to describe my disappointment and frustration!

    • @biorobot2
      @biorobot2 6 месяцев назад +15

      That type of reasoning is kinda weird since most of the stuff from the MCU is barely original. It’s a patching of the different comic series. But I agree with him that the trend of comic trying to capitalize on the success of the MCU by recycling content already recycled from comic is beyond silly and lazy.

    i hate it that marvel comics are trying to match up the mcu. what made the mcu so good is that it was separate from the comics, able to create storylines and character development without needing to rely on the development and character building from the comics. they could take the basic beginner traits of the characters they chose and then just go from there with their own ideas and stuff. they could take insipiration from them but not directly copy them. theyre supposed to stay as separate continuities. not turn one into the other all because some shitty movie and a literal fucking liar claims that 616 is the mcu universe when its not

    • @shadowx8145
      @shadowx8145 6 месяцев назад

      Good god y'all fucking idiot still didn't put two and two together? The MCU being 616 has nothing to do with them replacing the comics it's a reference that the MCU is the MAIN continuity in the CINEMATIC side of things just like how 616 is recognized has the MAIN Continuity is the comic side of things. The MCU is profitable while comics are a dying medium. Even DC is suffering from that. On a business side of things it makes sense why the comics would try to mimic it

      It's even more stupid when you realize a lot of the MCU big wigs probably consider the MCU a prequel to the comics. I've even seen something like Loki was the origin of the multiverse and that the reason they named the MCU as 616 was to somehow make them the same
      Even if they're not they're not doing a good job at differentiating multiverses or coordinating information very well to certain creatives

Their whole track record is that the MCU promotes ONE guy per film, literally, with ensembles being reduced to CGI set pieces and Quips-a-Million. A TEAM franchise is alien as fuck to the House of Mouse. They can't even do a team of Disney Princesses. They literally fired DeMayo before his cartoon aired.

      @@bradleypoe6846 I think it is a bit more complicated then that. Disney managed to turn Marvel from a failing studio into a actual powerhouse with the MCU.
      I think the issue was that after they let the Russo Brothers cook and concluded with Endgame. A bunch of contracts expired, the Russo brothers left, Stan Lee died. And so all the brain/acting power houses buggered off leaving Disney to try and recreate something just as good with none of the resources that allowed the MCU to get that big to begin with.
      I suspect that a combination of BlackRock toomfoolery, braindrain, and people retiring have lead to Marvel just turning out dogwater after dogwater series since then. It's not going to get any better until it all goes under like in the early 1990's and Disney drops them.

    A note. A lot of the resurrected mutants went back to the the white hot room with Krakoa. They said that some went back to see their families but they all had essentially 24 hrs to say goodbye before leaving again. So there's we're not entirely back to having a surplus of mutants. If anything it looks like most mutants are gone, leaving with Krakoa and only the main mutants stayed.

    Man... I really loved that speech from Kafka, because it addresses the fundamental flaw behind Apocalypse's philosophy: "Social Darwinism" completely misunderstands the evolutionary concept of "survival of the fittest". As Kafka explains, it's not about being physically fit - it's about being fit for your environment. What makes you the top dog in one environment may leave you to struggle in another or if your environment changes over time, and changing a single variable can turn that entire ecosystem around you on its head.
    That moment could have been a great character moment for Apocalypse. Not as an immediate turnaround, but after some time. At first he'd probably still scoff at it and leave the youngsters to their "delusion" and run off to do his own thing - but when he attempts his next crusade and the X-Men effortlessly manage to avoid any collateral damage (despite him still very much wrecking them), he may start to consider that line of thinking...
    Sadly with how decisively he shut it down here, that doesn't seem likely.

    • @rabumalal
      @rabumalal 6 месяцев назад

      I take side with apocalypse here. Kafka's point is that if everyone is altruist like i am, then as a "we" we change the context so that context fit us so that powerful work can be done by a group of people, but it can only happen when everyone helps you with context. What happens when you cannot change context? when you live in earth instead of the white hot room and other people contexts clashes with you? Apocalypse answer that he would beat other contexts out of his own might, his survival is not to be snuffed but to thrive by your own by your own might, basically if every mutant learns to really fend for themselves and develop their knowledge , they can grow the context out of their own might. So he beat but didn't kill exodus, adjusted and didn't kill kafka, he took the time to pain everyone in a different way, because they have yet work to do. When you can not only survive but thrive in any environment(including mental), which would include defending yourself, you become Apocalypse ubermensch, which is basically become a better you ion every aspect, and your work is not done yet, so painful encouragement

    • @SKy_the_Thunder
      @SKy_the_Thunder 6 месяцев назад

      @@rabumalal "Changing context" doesn't just mean some magic reality warping. It's the main survival strategy of humanity. We altered our environments across the entire planet to the point where natural selection doesn't even apply to us anymore. We have entirely replaced the original context with our own and continue to change it - both physically (moving entire mountains, connecting oceans, etc.) and socially (healthcare, global communication & trade, etc.).
      Kafka's point is not "everyone should be a goody-two-shoes with no care in the world", but that in the world as it exists today, the raw domineering power Apocalypse worships isn't the most useful trait. A functional and resilient society has a much wider reach, and through cooperation can easily accomplish feats that would be hard even for an exceptional individual - so working as part of it rather than against it is the much more beneficial trait to have.
      Apocalypse's approach is "everyone for themselves" - which is easy to say if you're functionally immortal, have vast knowledge of advanced Celestial technologies and the abilities to magic those into existence. But everyone else is stronger if they can contribute to and benefit from the shared strength of a society, instead of living alone in the woods, struggling to survive all by themselves. That even goes for super-powered individuals.
      And yeah, making sure that society doesn't get complacent, corrupt and weak is a valid concern. Kafka said as much when he assured Apocalypse that his ideals are still a strong foundation to be inspired by. But there are far more efficient ways to ensure that than to occasionally beat up individuals. If anything that's more in like with the traits that can corrupt and weaken a society...
      The environment has changed, but Apocalypse refuses to adapt to the new conditions, which - ironically - is a pretty poor survival strategy. And it frankly shows in how much the X-Men treat it as a temper tantrum. His ideology is going extinct.

    I’ve got to ask am I the only one who’s actually happy to have some of the cast that’s been dead and unused for years back and that we can finally have some stories with some fun supporting characters that haven’t been around in a while.
    I know Rob warns that this is going congested and a mess and I don’t deny the danger but come on. This is comics, A: given how many times a main character been killed and resurrected it’s an utter shame how no of these before this have came back at least piece mill and B: more importantly you don’t have to use them all at once, it’s comics take ‘‘em a bit at the time put them down when you don’t need them, wait for an interest writer to give a b grade a solo run, likes there’s no harm making the smaller one villain of the weak or these weeks side character for the main team mission, heck since they seem to be going back to the status quo why not instead of one mansion have a few mutant tolerant cities around the work with the side ones acting as guarding perfect for just showing up when a story is in their area or a big event is on

    • @darksideapoc
      @darksideapoc 6 месяцев назад

      Because people are getting tired of DC and Marvel making all their iconic villains into anti heroes. We need villains, they make for some of the best characters. It's more epic when they are defeated by the hero. The villain is suppose to represent your obstacles in life, and the hero represents you getting over those obstacles, and that is why most people love to see the hero go up against an EVIL villain, not an anti hero... Also, how much anti heroes do we need?

    however, if X-men '97 wanted to adapt it in a way faithful to Hickman's intentions, that could be incredible. but i suspect DeMayo getting the boot might be just as bad as Hickman's departure.

Now they want to be philosophical about it and they were already doing that on Krakoa. They need to be more vigilant and ready to fight. Just dont be the ones to throw the first punch.
