Oh nyoo, you misplaced one node! On the second crown, 39:56. Also, could you imagine in the far future humans will build a dyson sphere around the Sun and it will not de a whole sphere but a bunch of ad banners with icons of megacorps...
gigantic projects need lots of money, and thus companies surely would pay the sphere and attach their logos, IF enough people fly nearby and can see it. from earth, the sun is too far away and yet too bright, and thus logos would be invisible. the bigger problem is the amount of resources, where to get them (dismantle an entire planet? or even another star system?) and how to transport them (even the enterprise wouldn't be big and fast enough, we first would need an entire factory planet to build a fleet of space ships). and of course the physics (gravity affecting the sphere as well as a missing planet and the additional sphere influencing the entire solar system, solar radiation and flares, the speed of light, etc) to create such a stable beast near the sun. even the federation wouldn't be advanced enough during the next few centuries or the next millenium.
I've got 280 Hours, 2 complete playthroughs, and 7 Spheres completed and I can still watch for ages, mesmerised by the scale and how complete and polished this game truly is!
Possible masterclass idea: blue motors. Everyone's play through consists of "blue motors is struggling". I think I counted 11 magnets per blue motor, so I can understand the struggle. But an optimized breakdown of that production line would be cool.
Idk if its still relevant, i just made a few blueprints for Assemblers (Always an interstellar hub and then either 1 into 1, 2 into 1, 3 into 1 or 4 into 1 Assemblies) and pasted them around a planet and applied recipes as needed. Works well for me since i kind of go for having 10k of anything stockpiled around somewhere, so might as well build all out.
When using the matrix blocks for aesthetics I think its important to break the belt so they stop moving. I used these all over my factory planet to highlight my builds and I noticed a bit of slowdown that happens on belts because of all the moving blocks. You only have one belt so it shouldn't be a problem, but for future reference its good practice.
I'm really enjoying your Let's Play, and I liked the tutorial as well. I haven't been watching for long, but you really opened my eyes about how the logistics stations should be used. Thanks!
Both geodesic and graticule follow the spherical shell, at a constant altitude, but geodesics will take a direct path. Graticule will follow gridlines. This is easily seen building a ring at the 'pole' from each type to compare
On my first sphere I experimented with it and it turns out you get more power from having more nodes and lines, counter-intuitively. You would think more sails means more power, but actually more structure points is more power. My next sphere I'm going to maximise the points on a similar star and see how it goes.
Great content again! Also really love this game. Hits so many buttons for people who also enjoy Factorio and/or Satisfactory. Only thing this game is lacking is blueprints and multiplayer :)
Hey Nilaus, we missed you yesterday, a lot... and by a lot, I mean, I was restless... but while watching this video, I slept and I watched this video 3 times over and slept 3 times, and I had the best sleep and finished watching it a 4th time... You really are a sleep therapist my friend. Your voice is so soothing, I want to listen to it all the time. I missed not having an episode yesterday. They are the best on this game by far ! Also you miss placed a node on the southern flower in the Dyson Sphere but that's surely for efficiency reasons XD
I still think a great tutorial would be for setup of initial base to best maximise effectiveness to get up to Interplanetary Logistics as quickly as possible in the most direct path :)

A geodesic is the line on a surface that connects two points in the shortest distance. In case of curved surfaces like the surface of a sphere, the geodesic appears curved when projected onto another surface. (I. E. Viewed in 3D)
I have notice something about 4 way splitters, outputs are sequential and not random. We can always predict where items go depending on the previous output.
Hey Nilaus I just wanted to let you know, your math in terms of power was a bit off: You said you had 120 rail ejectors on each pole so 2 x 120 = 240 Each consumes 1.2 MW of power so: 240 x 1.2 = 288 MW If you add the rocket launchers: (100 x 18MW) + 288 MW = 2088 MW ~ 2.1 GW So you over-built it a tiny bit. That doesn't mean it's wrong though, since you also need power to charge the logistics stations and the inserters etc. Love your videos and I just can't help but notice these little things. Keep up the good work.
A little question - what would happen, if the EM rail ejectors were on the north pole of a planet (preferably close to the star), and entry point for dyson swarm above north pole of the star? Theoretically, this should keep the "target" for ejectors always above horizon, maximizing utilization.
There is a small error in one of the points on the second crown, visible near the mouse at around 40:46, I believe the poleward vertex of the outer ring is placed one tile too close to the pole. F.
You know... I think the devs could upgrade the game to reflect real life stars energy outputs and the available energy we'd capture with an actual dyson sphere (384.6 yottawatts from a star like ours). They could also upgrade the energy requirements for various buildings to reflect those huge energy values and introduce better/easier automation like self replicaton (which is already technically possible).
That's what I plan to do on my play through. I'm going to space it out so afterwards I can place interstellar logistic stations and make literally every structure request able anywhere.
you should of made inbetween nodes for longer straight lines as you created huge areas for long lines with only one slow node, the denser the nodes the faster you will consume so when making straight line for speed sake its better to make it up of segments

The Pun killed me :D, it's laterally the first time it ever happened to me LOL
So you got my like
Hey Nilaus
I just wanted to let you know, your math in terms of power was a bit off:
You said you had 120 rail ejectors on each pole so 2 x 120 = 240
Each consumes 1.2 MW of power so: 240 x 1.2 = 288 MW
If you add the rocket launchers: (100 x 18MW) + 288 MW = 2088 MW ~ 2.1 GW
So you over-built it a tiny bit. That doesn't mean it's wrong though, since you also need power to charge the logistics stations and the inserters etc.
Love your videos and I just can't help but notice these little things.
Keep up the good work.
There are 184 Solar Sail Ejectors at each pole ~= 220 MW
1800 + 220 + 220 ~= 2.2 GW
Maybe I said it wrong, but the math is fine
More dysonspheres! Try building more then one at a time
If you rotate each rocket launcher 180 degrees, you can put them side by side and chain feed them with sorters.
42:00 The "crown" looks like connected private (U.S. Army rank) insignias.
You have the rare privilege of getting my pre-view like xD
THAT is a work of art.
Aaaaaaargh that's one less sun in the Southern power pole.

I think the sphere would have looked nicer if the "crown" was on a different smaller layer, perhaps rotating the opposite direction
I was drunk and had the idea to start a new save where my main line literally makes every building. Long story short, it's actually awesome.
This goes to show that even the stupidest ideas are genius if you work on them hard enough
That's what I plan to do on my play through. I'm going to space it out so afterwards I can place interstellar logistic stations and make literally every structure request able anywhere.

for purple science bug on the belt, maybe try putting fast belt from logistics station to the circular belt.
