gigantic projects need lots of money, and thus companies surely would pay the sphere and attach their logos, IF enough people fly nearby and can see it. from earth, the sun is too far away and yet too bright, and thus logos would be invisible.
the bigger problem is the amount of resources, where to get them (dismantle an entire planet? or even another star system?) and how to transport them (even the enterprise wouldn't be big and fast enough, we first would need an entire factory planet to build a fleet of space ships). and of course the physics (gravity affecting the sphere as well as a missing planet and the additional sphere influencing the entire solar system, solar radiation and flares, the speed of light, etc) to create such a stable beast near the sun.
even the federation wouldn't be advanced enough during the next few centuries or the next millenium.

Possible masterclass idea: blue motors. Everyone's play through consists of "blue motors is struggling". I think I counted 11 magnets per blue motor, so I can understand the struggle. But an optimized breakdown of that production line would be cool.

Idk if its still relevant, i just made a few blueprints for Assemblers (Always an interstellar hub and then either 1 into 1, 2 into 1, 3 into 1 or 4 into 1 Assemblies) and pasted them around a planet and applied recipes as needed. Works well for me since i kind of go for having 10k of anything stockpiled around somewhere, so might as well build all out.

When using the matrix blocks for aesthetics I think its important to break the belt so they stop moving. I used these all over my factory planet to highlight my builds and I noticed a bit of slowdown that happens on belts because of all the moving blocks. You only have one belt so it shouldn't be a problem, but for future reference its good practice.

    Hey Nilaus
I just wanted to let you know, your math in terms of power was a bit off:
You said you had 120 rail ejectors on each pole so 2 x 120 = 240
    Each consumes 1.2 MW of power so: 240 x 1.2 = 288 MW
    If you add the rocket launchers: (100 x 18MW) + 288 MW = 2088 MW ~ 2.1 GW
So you over-built it a tiny bit. That doesn't mean it's wrong though, since you also need power to charge the logistics stations and the inserters etc.
Love your videos and I just can't help but notice these little things.
    Keep up the good work.

    • @Nilaus
      @Nilaus  3 года назад

There are 184 Solar Sail Ejectors at each pole ~= 220 MW
      1800 + 220 + 220 ~= 2.2 GW
Maybe I said it wrong, but the math is fine

A little question - what would happen, if the EM rail ejectors were on the north pole of a planet (preferably close to the star), and entry point for dyson swarm above north pole of the star? Theoretically, this should keep the "target" for ejectors always above horizon, maximizing utilization.

They could also upgrade the energy requirements for various buildings to reflect those huge energy values and introduce better/easier automation like self replicaton (which is already technically possible).

How is the late game performance? Do we have to optimise builds for UPS?

I think the overall design is brilliant: Only a single planet has to be active at any given time (and probably a lot less than that actually), which sets an upper bound to the demand on hardware. Any other planets can be handled as separate threads (and they are), which means it can scale out much more easily than Factorio.
I have not had any issues with performance yet, so I am not starting to optimise for a problem I don't know if exist

@@Nilaus I am so happy to hear that! I feel silly now, because i was always thinking of performance. Using minimum number of belts and sorter... You should make a review video when you are done with the series.

Not just super-liminal messaging, that "SUBSCRIBE" is super _luminal._

16:40 There's no actual way to have a circular belt without a gap, because pi is irrational and the radius of the circle is an integer.
