It works beautifully on a standard screen, the Fold's screen, as well as on external displays with Samsung DeX. Each screen has a slightly different interface tailored for the viewport size and aspect ratio. Very well done. The fact that LumaFusion is a one-time purchase is just icing on the cake. No-brainer purchase if for no other reason than to support a developer bringing a full-feature piece of software to Android.
Hopefully Serif brings the full Affinity suite to Android next. That would cover a massively gaping hole in desktop-grade software on Android.
Really want to test it out for Android. Will be really helpful for someone who use Samsung Dex.
@jonathanwendttech How do you like Dex? I'm debating replacing my pixel with S23 for this feature alone. I had a Duet 3 Chrome tablet that was my main device for a month and liked it but gave it to my niece to use it for school. I generally used my devices for consumption now that I am done with school but am thinking of getting into photography and video for a hobby and got to thinking I maybe better served with a higher spec chromebook. Thanks in advance!
Having LumaFusion on Android and ChromeOS is big step but now I'm really looking forward to having a version of Davinci Resolve on Android just like the version that's coming very soon to iPadOS.
That's what I'm looking forward to as well..
It's impossible.
@@tamilislamhadees
Why?
@@amier909 it's impossible because for that you need something as special as an Apple M1 chip or some x86 chip. DaVinci Resolve is on a whole another league, which requires a lot of build up. It's possible to be ported to iPadOS as Resolve is already optimized for M1 which is running in iPad as well.
Keep dreaming the iPad is still miles ahead when it comes to pro desktop class apps
One thing that I like about LumaFusion is that at first glance, it looks like the functionality is rich but defined and constrained. However, if your unleash your imagination you can achieve effects and workflows that even the creators of the app wouldn’t have thought possible. For example I made a Displacement Mapping effect in LumaFusion. I can’t wait for Android and ChromeOS users to start diving into the app and come up with new innovative ideas. With LumaFusion being very similar across platforms most of the ideas conceived on one OS will work in LumaFusion on the others.
I’m excited to try this. I’ve been using LumaFusion on my iPad Mini and to a lesser degree on my iPhone for a few years now, and absolutely adore it.
However, as you mentioned, the Files manager is absolutely atrocious!
I usually don’t like to bring a laptop with me when I go on trips, and have been trying recently to use the iPad Mini to transfer photos from my cameras to a thumb drive (via multiport dongle). This has been a frustrating proposition to say the least! Half the time, either the files all end up corrupt, or just stop copying halfway through (the circle progress bar is absolutely useless)!
On a whim, I just picked up a Pixel 6a solely for the camera. I have found not only the camera to be amazing, but the file manager is way better than the iPad’s. As a matter of fact, I think I’ll be using this to replace my iPad Mini for even lighter travel.
Now that I can even edit videos using the Pixel, the Mini might be collecting dust for awhile!
And…did you edit this RUclips video with LumaFusion?
Been using this on my iPad Pro for a hot minute and it's been pretty mint on that. Gonna have to try it out on my Tab S8 Ultra and my S22 Ultra now and see what I think there (keeping in mind that it's still early access).
It's certainly not a pirated copy of Premiere, but hey, something which doesn't require me to pack up my laptop is pretty damn nifty and if the experience on the iPad is anything to run with, LumaFusion is certainly no slouch.
So, at present, I've noticed that ALL videos I import on both Android devices I'm testing on will import with the audio set to -90db by default. Not sure why, but it's easy enough to fix when you know about it (drag the slider to where you want your levels to be-there is no codec issue, the default slider position is just not where it needs to be).
Otherwise, the experience is about as smooth as Premiere Pro on desktop (accounting for the obvious limitations when using it on my phone-I never use my tablet without having peripherals to hand so that's basically on par with Vegas Pro on desktop) and the exported videos are more consistently functional than what I would get out of Premiere Rush (I have about a 50/50 chance, with Premiere Rush, of exporting a video that has garbage data show in a hex editor around where the 2 minute mark should be-with these videos, playback stalls in the player, I have yet to have this happen in the early access version of LumaFusion, THAT surprised me in a good way).
Now, obviously, using an editor on a phone, even with a nifty little pen, is kind of a painful experience until you get used to it, but once you do get used to it, damn is it a nice experience.
@@bakonfreek Thanks for the feedback. Do you think it runs smoother on iOS than on Android? I'd like to stick with my Android, but if it's substantially better on iOS, I don't mind making the switch.
Depends on the smoothness you're looking for.
As far as what video you can do at full res, I have been able to test up to 4K60 (HEVC files for added computational load) and I get comparable performance from my S22 Ultra and my M1 iPad Pro. No proxies, cutting the video based on the waveform was easy enough, playback was totally smooth.
As far as app reliability, it's been on iOS for over half a decade so it's had more time for optimizations there.
As far as the interface, on Apple and Android, it's a pretty clunky experience if you have no external peripherals (I am biased as I have been editing on PC since I was, like, 11, and on tapes for like 4 or 5 years before that). Both work equally good with external mice and keyboards though.
Now, not at all smoothness related, but as far as render times go, my S22 Ultra consistently beats out my M1 iPad Pro.
Honestly, I'd say stick it out on Android and see how the app improves once it gets out of early access. It is also $10 cheaper on Android.
If your prior experience is with Premiere Rush, you will thoroughly enjoy LumaFusion (Premiere Rush is kinda trash-crashes all the time on high end hardware, but LF, I have to force it to crash).
@@bakonfreek Thank you so, so much, I'm sold on going with Android. ❤️❤️❤️
@@koso_luchi BRO HAVE U PURCHASED LUMAFUSION ANDROID HOW IS IT WE CAN STRECH GAMEPLYS IN IPAD VIEW IN THIS PLS REPLY?
Damn, I though Lumia phone was back
This is probably gonna be the best Video editor for high end Android tablets and any chrome book cause the level of customization and features rivals that of Final Cut Pro
This is the app i was looking for. I have realized we can do so much on our phones but the applications aren't taking advantage of it or are just half baked. Filmic pro + Luma seems like the perfect combo is you don't want to walk around with your laptop or want to do some touch up and post it real quick.
Question - Will this app work in the new Play Store released for Windows?
Yes, the android on windows is a pixel 5 , atleast to me.
Wait, I couldn't find it on windows and BlueStacks. Maybe it's not available for emulators.
@@raptorreaper thanks for checking.
Very interesting 👌 thanks 🙏
I'm happy with it so far. All they have to do is, fill in the navigation bar area so the entire app can be immersive and it'll be complete design wise.
No image stabilisation like the iOS version and first video I rendered was full of ghosting second crashed. Was going to use it on a Chromebook but sounds like that doesn’t work. Refunded quick smart, back to the iPad version for me
Does anyone know if this will work on the Lenovo Chromebook Duet 3?
LUMAFUSHION SUCKS ON ANDROID!!! USE ADOBE RUSH INSTEAD!
Just purchased it and refunded, the reason is when I'm color grading straight out my Mirrorless Cam's SD Card is the same as VN Editor,
For instance: the basic correction "Shadows and highlights" where if I adjust the highlights and shadows it gives that crushed Blacks and Whites with just minimal adjustments (It's like editing a compressed video), while on RUSH the adjustments are like the same when I edit on Premier pro, adjusting the highlights and shadows with minimal effort still retains the dynamic range of the video, if you're curious I edited it on a flat profile 10 bit, Go compare it, You'll see what I'm talking about.
But yeah compared to the editing tools on Luma, it beats the Rush, like the ability to add LUT etc. For those who are color grading like me, please do the comparison,
*This comment doesn't actually means to destroy Luma or uplift Adobe Rush, I'm just saying if you're willing to sacrifice some features for the Luma then go for it.
Hi sir.
I'm about to Purchase Lumafusion Android but before I purchase can you please tell me if Luma Android can Export our Video in 60fps , 120 fps . Above 60. Because every tutorial video i saw on RUclips about Luma, I saw them Only Exporting in 30fps. I do a Lot of GoPro Video edits in Slow Motion so There's no way i Record in 60,120 fps and Export in 30 fps.
How does it compare to Davinci Resolve?
This is what I have been arguing with people about. Especially content creators on RUclips for the past 6 months. When I test Google tensor it's faster than most other Android phones out there! But when it comes to video editing Google Tensor is absolutely ridiculous. Benchmark scores mean nothing in 2022! Benchmark apps only measure a quarter of your phones actual performance! Those two main cores in Tensor makes Google tensor the best phone on the market there is no competition! I tested iPhones, Samsung's, OnePlus, xiaomis. All those phones have faster benchmarking scores and yet the pixel is faster than all of those phones! It's all about horsepower/ torque, not 0 to 100 times! And it just shows how important pixel phones are to Android! Notice how when the pixel 6 came out social media apps started caring about Android again. Notice all these video editing apps coming out for Android! The tied is turning and these companies are realizing the best Android phone is a pixel!
Cool Pixel ad. Do you have any thoughts on the app that the rest of us are talking about?
I'm pretty sure Samsung is driving the Android popularity, but ok.
I use Capcut for my video editing on my Galaxy Tab S7+. It has functions which I need the most like video stabilizer and interpolated slowmotion, well optimized. Does Lumafusion cover all this and worth the purchase for me?
If you want traditional pc like video editor then go for lumafusion, else stick to other mobile video editors with AI features and all. LF is very similar to traditional video editors of PC, which is very convenient for using multiple tracks and complex cuts.
"Slow Motion" on "LumaFusion" is similar to other video editing app...lack luster compared to "CapCut", that's said you'll have cut "clips" to slow down parts of a footage (not ideal) vs "envelope" display on "CapCut.
Yes, I love how "CapCut" slow motion "envelope" is displayed but I'm Not a video professional & a "subscription" is No for me.
@@patricklasko1360 subscription is a NO GO for me. I cannot pay subscription.
Let's see what updates LF comes up with. It doesn't have all the features yet.
I like LF because it suits my way of editing on my PC. It's almost exactly the same.
It sucks that I have to pay for it again on Android now even tho I’ve already bought it on iOS that’s the only thing that’s sucks😭
Now we want procreate for Android
Who is "we"?
@@dalydose not you
No, since we have Krita (Desktop app), Clip Studio, infinite painter etc
Hopefully this will run so well on WSA (Windows subsystem Android)
I bought it. For my use case it is perfect.
Does the device heat while exporting videos from lumafusion? (1080p video)
I've plugging my phone into my miniPC (Mele Quieter3C) and running DeX. That gives me 4k display, decent keyboard and mouse, and it works amazingly well. Performance is stunning - I can handle 6k 200Mb/s video no problem.
JUST got a lifetime sub to InShot otherwise I'd jump right on it
I really want Photoshop on Android, mainly on tablets, I use that app so much on PC, it'll be nice if it comes to android
Buy a surface and you'd be happy. Affinity is the product your looking for.
Quick question, can you do editing off external drives on androids? I know we can on an iPad, likely on iPhone too once USB-C is on that.
Awesome & Thanks :)
I would love to have this on my Duet 5!
Edit: It's not on Chrome OS. 🙄
Need android 10. Using also duet 5. But our chromebook runs now version 9.
@@ro-bert-oh Yeah. It sucks. ☹️
@@ro-bert-oh seriously? Was just about to buy a Duet 5 to run LumaFusion 😢
Excellent review. Bought this a month ago. Still haven't used to it's full potential . Well worth the price. Love been able to use with Samsung Dex.
Anybody have the problem with import video in media? on my chromebook appears "download" and than in media dont' appears thunbnail
Absolutely none the wiser as to how to import files after watching this video. It may be a great app but its useless if files can't be imported
Adobe is crying now and will cry more when Davinci Resolve will come to Android!
Cry more Adobe! :D
DaVinci Resolve will never come to android because it’s an x86 app it’s able to run on the iPad Pro M1 and M2 because it also runs on the M1 and M2 macs if you really wanna use
DaVinci Resolve on a thin and light tablet just get an iPad
@@lesleyhaan116 You obviously have no idea what you're talking about.
@@Addakhel come on man it took
LumaTouch 7 years to get LumaFusion running on android and Samsung announced it 9 months ago and
it’s still In beta Davinci Resolve only runs on x86 and Apples M1 and M2
Chips it’s runs on the iPad because the iPad same cpu as the M1 and M2 macs
That’s why we will see more Mac desktop class apps on iPad
@@lesleyhaan116 You're just repeating what you've said before and confirming what I said.
You obviously have no idea what instruction set architecture is.
@@lesleyhaan116 What makes you think Lumafusion was working on getting LF on Android(not Samsung as you express) for 7 yrs? You work for them? Its on Android now because they obviouly made the decision to develope it on Android, probably in the last year or 2
Dragging and dropping on ChromeOS seems entirely broken here (Pixelbook) and in the video where you repeatedly tried to add a clip to the timeline. I'm sure this stuff will be ironed out pretty quickly.
Very similar to Serif Movie x6. (2012 desktop version)
If someone had lumafusion in ios. Should they have to buy again to get access in android
Yes
I've been looking ages for an android app that supports smooth speed ramps for drone videography. Does lumafusion offer that?
This over CapCut pro.
Nice
A man's got to Have his share of by mmm...
Do it has auto video and audio sync function sir?(use wave form to auto sync)
Does it work on Android TV?
Hello, I have a question. If I buy Luma Fusion for a tablet and I also want to use it on my mobile, do I have to pay twice? Thanks!
No you doesn't but both devices should have same account log in.
Works on Huawei devices
Would've loved to see a more indepth comparison between the iOS/iPadOS version compared to this android version, and how it looks on Android desktop modes like Samsung Dex instead of chromeos
It looks the same on DeX as it does on ChromeOS.
It's not as feature rich as iPad LFv3.2, neither has all the features of LFv2.4 like 10bit HDR colorspace, but Luma Team has said that they'll bring all these features to Android with future updates. For now the core speciality of LF i.e traditional track based video editing workflow is present, which works like butter.
Come on man they said it would be free at Android.. I'm so sad to know it's paid app. I was waiting for a perfect smartphone video editor and it was at ios... Heard itll be here in Android .. Not it's 🙂💔
I never say anything that said it would be free. Also, this is a great value...and people who make these things deserve a salary.
I really hate that android apps needs to be free. I love android and the play store is full of junk ware. I would like to see more quality paid apps so that developer see play store as a "first to deploy" not "after iOS" which its how it is now. All the good apps and games come out on iOS then android as a after thought. its like the dev know it will be extracted as an APK for free to steal.
@@KieferNguyen I'm just saying what it was said, I got information about it somewhere so I'm speaking. It's not personal, people are giving imformation so I'm wondering.
@@KieferNguyen agreed.
How is this a hands-on ?
Because we tested the software?
Sounded like a quick walk through.
Thanks
Now if we could just get Logic Pro and Final Cut on Android for ChromeOS. 🥳
Final Cut? Apple would never sell it on a non-Apple platform.
@@dalydose I know. The whole thing with some people wanting software on certain devices cracks me up.
@@PLANETWATERMELON and declaring that "we" all want what they want 😂
@@dalydose 🤣
@@dalydose and the funny thing is you will never get it on android or you have to buy and Apple product that’s something you guys will never do
Wow, quite impressed with render times, wish they opensourced this project
Open-source? You crazy?
Samsung we finally have LumaFusion
On or tablets and phones
Apple we had LumaFusion for the last
7 years and now we are getting
desktop class Davinci Resolve
And you still have to deal with Apple and its eschewed ethics, right to repair denied, etc. Sweat shop junk that I have to pay 55% extra for.
This video is boring.
