Something I think wasn't called out hut huge, Dalton started getting low on D at the half line late in the game. Took away the low throws and allowed his Goalie to see the ball cleaner. Once that happened the throw goals decreased and they got control back.
I just have to say the warehouse games are a perfect example of how “replay” should be used. it’s fast and effective. Also, the refereeing has been incredible so far!
One idea that occurs to me while watching this is that it might be good for the ref to signal, maybe with the whistle, when the ball needs to be cornered. It felt like there were a few times where players weren't aware when the ball was still live or a change of possession occurred. Then again, that may just come down to knowing the rules and having better floor awareness. Just a thought.
We played games like that in our practice session and the person in charge of running the clock got very confused bc those don’t stop the clock but whistles do. We decided we just needed the players to know. Half the players were there for the extensive training and game building the other half weren’t so we still have players playing in their second ever game here.
@@WarehouseGamesI love that you’ve thought through basically everything! It shows how much y’all care and it’s making the viewing of all your games excellent!
I love this game, and I'm wondering if these changes could make it even better the next campaign - A semicircular crease to encourage more shot angles than simply straight on and the close side angle. That the cross-crease pass to setup the slap on the opposite side feels disproportionately strong since it is so close. - Something to encourage using the space between the mid-court line and the crease. It feels like there's so much dead space, but you can't simply shorten the court else the throw becomes too strong. Something to get some high-risk, high-reward long-range slaps could be hype. I can't wait to watch Slapball develop, both in the rules of the game and team's strategies!
Totally agree about the “nothing space” between the throw line and the crease. Maybe if it was ultimate frisbee rules (can’t walk with the ball) the whole field of play becomes more interesting?
So many players getting better and better each game but the true privilege this game was the break-out of Ref Kevin. We all knew he had potential and it looks like he has unlocked it. We just witnessed greatness announce itself on the world stage. Incredible.
Best match so far, i feel like they should be matches instead of games lol The Story figuring out passing before everyone else seems to be the x factor in this format. Lou and jake running screen plays with underhand tosses are standing out, also seems Cohen the only ripper that has figured it out lol
As a lifelong goalie, I feel like when goaltending they are playing way too deep and glued to the goal line. But at the same time any defender can load up in the crease so not sure there is anything preventing coming out to defend shots. So, would goaltending be improved by cutting down the angle? Not sure if there is a rule not coming through when watching. I do think the game's rules make it kind of tough to officiate. I get many of them are to avoid it turning into an all-out physical game with more injury potential. The slap save that turns into a quick throw goal is a nice dynamic. Also love the off-ball movement at 14:55 for a goal.
My thoughts as well. Goalies need to come out a little more and have the defenders get out of the crease when the ball is in the backcourt. Rippers also needed to keep their central defender close to the crease. Everytime he went out to meet the thrower Story exploited the space.
Great sport. I think adding restart areas in both corners would be a good improvement for next year. I'm guessing they just have one because the camera angles on the near side suck, but it could help facilitate some quick restart goals.
I was wondering why no1 was doing skip shots, there almost impossible to block, a fast skip goes in 90 percent of the time if its within the goal posts, hard to block
Another rule to consider is that any play on goal that strikes the back wall and is caught before bouncing off the ground doesn't require a reset in the corner. It would be considered a turnover and can immediately go on offense.
Be interesting to see if the goalies come out more to challenge shooters especially from the triangles. I know their instincts must be to stay deep and give themselves more time to react, but with the really live armed guys the slow motion replays are showing evidence that they still can't really react in time to make a true save, especially on a low throw. I suspect coming out more to cut off the angle and shrink the open space in the goal (think handball goalies on penalty shots) might be the better technique.
I’m confused how Jake’s goal counted when the ball hit the ground for a second time as he tried corralling it. There’s been several times in previous games where it bounced, then was touched by another player, then bounced again before it was picked up and it always counted as two bounces? The inconsistencies just keep coming over these rules, hoping it can get ironed out by a second season of this because I’ve always thought handball was a criminally underrated sport and I love the idea of slapball as a take on it.
Yea it's the first year in a brand new sport. The other sports they all played on their own. I agree with you and hopefully it gets better. You gotta let some of it slide though as they figure out the game. I think over the four games they have shown improvement. I have faith in jomboy and the others to continue to improve in this season and the next.
Was that because Jake touched it before the 2nd bounce? I'm not 100% but it came up again where the ball doesn't have to be controlled, only touched, to keep it live if it hits the floor again.
They said you can bounce again if it hits a hand. It looks like it bounces, then hits his hand, then bounces again before he grabs it. I do agree that it was a gray area as they called a "trap" earlier on a somewhat similar situation but I see why the rule would yield a goal call.
@@cwolf208 I don’t disagree with what they’re trying to say by the rule, I just feel like I saw multiple times in the first couple of games where it hit someone’s hands off one bounce, then hit the ground again, and was called a double bounce. Might just be growing pains of a new sport
Didn’t Dalton reclaim the Shady Rays throne with his last throwing goal? He’s at 9, tied with Jake, and he had the most recent goal to tiebreak… am I missing something?
I had this crazy idea, since it seems pretty hard to shoot from anywhere that isn't next to the goal, might be interesting to add a 2pt line inside the offensive zone.
I think take the rule away of not being able to throw right away after a shot or make it a live ball after a shot for offense to shoot again off rebound. Or defense to make a quick shot across. But only for those 2 purposes.
Yes I saw this too. I was under the impression that followthrough counted and he was definitely on the line on the followthrough at a minimum. Might have been a missed call, it happens. There's a lot going on for a single official to handle.
I know, I know another suggestion. But listen a 2:00 minute stoppage of play in the final 2 minutes that allows the team that’s behind a free shot could prevent the clock from being run down by the team that’s up and could help with pace. 🤷🏼♂️
It's like a mini nerf soccer ball. There's actually a 'day in the life's video on MoreJomboy where you see him making a target run and happens to find it there.
goal keepers need to use their feet more, going with their hands for low shots is always going to be much harder to make the save, love the sport guys!
Is the rule that from a freeze you are then allowed to step forward for the throw? For the last goal Dalton appears to check with the ref who says its ok and then ofc scores. It allows throws from just inside the offensive zone and probably isn't a big deal but feels slightly off. Like the freeze point or the line should be the most forward point allowed for the throw (while allowing backward movement). Overall loving it!
You need to implement a fast break into the game. If someone shoots and it gets blocked but only bounces once, the defending team should be able to play it instead of restarting play.
I think it would be interesting if instead of an immediate turnover when the goalie makes a save if there were “corner kicks” like in soccer because it could setup for a lot of interesting interactions with the defense trying to block passes and make interceptions. I think it could also lead to more situations where the defenders get the ball off a single bounce so they can immediately go for the shot.
so in theory you can dribble it like a basketball? It should be required to gain possession before it can bounce again. A deflection like the dribble at 24:50 should be a double bounce
If you’re not allowed to jump, I feel like everyone jumping on Jack’s first half shot at the end should result in a “dead ball” play where they get a free shot almost like a freeze. Just thought for future
Isn't Dalton the highest scorer now? Since both him and Jake have 9 goals and it is based off of whoever had the most recent goal in a tie, Dalton should get the glasses.

on a throw goal attempt is there a limit to how many times the ball can bounce? could they just rip the ball along the ground?
