A buddy of mine bought a ‘09 Chevy Corvette C6 ZR1, and the car has never seen speeds over 90 mph. Just because you have a high performance car or one of the greatest off road capable vehicles does not mean you have to use them in the intended way they were built. John's quote, “I like the styling of corvettes, but don’t need the power, But if I ever need it, its there." Same goes with Off Road vehicles. Some just love the look of the specific vehicle.
FANTASTIC review!! I'm looking at a used 2013 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited and funny enough, the one in this video is the same jeep I'm looking at! Red body and black cloth interior! I do agree though, why so much money???
i love taking friends for a ride in my 2012 jeep. because they think its a slow jeep. and when i hit the gas the look on their face is awesome. love my jeep so much. wish they would come with a diesel already
I've always wanted a Wrangler. And every time I think about getting one, I always skip it. Now, Jeep is building the best ones ever. A Rubicon Unlimited is what I need. I live in rural utah, in the desert in the shadows of the Uintah Mountains. This is truck country. I need one with serious offroading chops.
What it needs more than the 8 speed is the diesel, especially with the manual. Driving a modern manual turbo diesel, even at altitude, is a blast. The 2.0tdi Passat I drove in Britain would pull 6th from 30mph and I had it up to 130mph. The cost of my antics? 44.4mpg (US not imperial). That was with 260 ft.lbs the 3.0 turbo diesel in the Grand Cherokee gets 420 ft.lbs, Now that's an engine to rock crawl with.
Thanx for the review I believe the best wrangler is , the diesel with 8 speed auto , I don’t understand why people complain about gas mileage on SUVs , if they need better gas mileage they should get compact cars , Thanx for your review
Thanks for watching. We're just happy that you guys are watching our videos. Today we're going to try to get the Wrangler stuck in some deep snow. Should be fun. Look for that video later this week after we thaw out.
Crazy that altitude makes that much of a difference 0-60. I gotta say I have a b package 2 door and although I never officially timed it, they have been said to pull a 6.9 which is nuts in a Wrangler.
Clearly, there is a market for this vehicle. Am a 2012 Wangler Unlimited Rubicon owner and can tell you, as will many others, this is the most off road capable out of the box Jeep ever produced. All those whining about gas mileage simply need to look for another type of vehicle; IT'S NOT A COMMUTER CAR!! It is what it is, and it does what we "Jeep people" want it to do. If you don't like it, don't buy it. But quit trying to make it into a watered down wannabe like all the other "SUVs" out there.
Roman, definitely agree with the new Transmission statement, but would prefer if they went with the ZF 7-speed platform (like the one in the Porsches) so they can go Manual and Semi-Auto (DC) from the same base transmission platform. The 7DT-70/75 DC and 7MT would give them enough torque support to allow for the factory EcoDiesel as well as AEV semi-OEM Hemi options. And thus they can consolidate on a single transmission platform, not the two separate ones they've been using for decades. And since ZF is a long-time partner, it's not like they are doing something completely foreign. That would give them better gear ratio ranges from both the 5-speed (NAG1/W5A580) auto and the 6-speed manual (NSG-370), and when mated to the right axle ratios, should give a new drivetrain bother better low-end grunt as well as much better highway efficiency. Going the 8-speed route means they leave the 6-speed manual out of the potential improvements. I'd perhaps say leave the 6-speed for the hard-core crowd, however it's not a transmission anyone is really fond of and has a bunch of long standing issues, I think many of us with the current 6-speed would be willing to take a shot with a new ZF 7-speed Manual.
Here's the overview on the two ZF 7-speeds that would be a better replacement than the ZF 8-speed IMO; www.zf.com/corporate/en_de/products/product_range/cars/cars_7_speed_manual_transmission.shtml www.zf.com/corporate/en_de/products/product_range/cars/cars_7_speed_dual_clutch_transmission.shtml
Plus, I'd love to see them not only put in the 3.0L Eco-diesel, but offer either a Factory option Supercharger on the 3.6L or replace the 3.6L naturally aspirated Pentastar with the 3.2L with a Supercharger. That would give them both better power numbers and could reduce the fuel consumption. And being at altitude in Calgary, just like you guys in Colorado, I'd prefer a forced air engine rather than just more displacement, due to the lower return due to altitude. The Pentastars were designed for both Supercharger and Turbos as optional add-ons, and for off-roading linear power delivery an fuel efficiency, I'd prefer the SuperCharger. Sure superchargers don't improve fuel efficiency per se, but if they took the already efficient 3.2L and added the charger, it would likely be more efficient than the fairly efficient 3.6L when highway-mileing, yet offer more power (especially torque) when need for either acceleration (the subject of this video) or stump-pulling/rock-crawling. I personally don't want the diesel, because I ski with my Rubicon, and leaving a diesel in -40 degree temperatures for hours without being plugged in is a lot harder to start a diesel than a petrol/gasoline engine, even with diesel additives and hoping glow plugs will do the trick after that long a time out in the wilderness. I've had no trouble starting the 3.6L pentastar in -50 weather after a day World Cup race preparations thanks to the assistance of fully synthetic 0 weight oil, and a good Optima Yellow-top AGM battery.
Finally somebody knows they type (on youtube), fully agree with what you said, I am looking at a RIPP supercharger for my 2013 JKU and would love your opinion.
I have one myself. You should talk about the backseats. They are ridiculously uncomfortable. That´s a shame considering that you have a lot of space in the back as to incline them just a little. I know that a lot of young adults with family are buying the Unlimited Sahara edition, because is the perfect mix between a suv and an off-road vehicle. I had to modify my backseats because my wife kept complaining about them (and she is sooooo right). The designers must know this, I think.
I'd rather get a Grand Cherokee. Are you guys going to pair the Ford Fusion with a 4cyl accord or 6cyl? I think the V6 would be great because you guys haven't done a segment on it yet.
well my mom owns a 2009 liberty and it gave her a lot of problems :/ she just wanted to get rid of it lol, but after like 6 visits to the dealer its ok now. i owned a grand cherokee overland and it was the same, i dont know about the wrangler. i actually own a honda pilot and i havent had any problems with it, yet :)
I'll be getting one eventually. When the price is a bit more reasonable. Most of those features I can buy for a half if not more of the cost that they're charging. Very good video roman. Only issue I see outside of pricing, is that it seems a bit cramped in the driver seat. Could you tell me a bit more about the front seat spacing?
I bought a 2013 Sahara and within 1,900 the clutch started to fail. At 2,300 I had to have the Jeep towed to the dealership. I have been driving sticks for 25 years and never burned out a clutch, so I know how to drive them. To make a long story short Chrysler refused to repair the Jeep and it cost me almost $1,200 to fix out of pocket. I cannot believe a manufacturer would deny a warranty claim on something that happened so quickly .... So buyers, beware. I went from loving my Jeep to hating it
Im pretty sure he wasn't shifting manually, I think that guage was just showing you what gear the vehicle is in. my car dos that as well, its just so you know what gear the car is in that's all it does. hope this helped a bit. I agree this jeep is awesome.
I'm really close to buying one, so I'm nervous if I'm making the wrong choice here, so I have a few questions for the wrangler owners out there. How would you rate the following, seat comfort, internal technology, daily on-road use, and fuel efficiency.
+X Maneuver Seat confort is reasonable and so is the technology, if you do not care about autonomous features, because it has none. If you have tires that are good on-road, it will be pretty good under 60mph. Fuel efficiency isn't too bad if you drive carefully, and I don't know what you mean by 'the following'.
+X Maneuver The Wrangler is the big boy toy that everybody should own once, I've been driving them since 1992 and haven't stopped. I own a new Wrangler 4d Sahara and new GC Limited, I drive them both equally and love both. I really wish they would throw the 8sp my GC has into the Wrangler, it would make for smoother shifts and better gas. With that said if I need to get someplace in a hurry I wouldn't take the Wrangler, it has power if you need to but I rather enjoy it getting dirty in the mud. The crazy thing is both of my Jeeps were 40+, it's crazy how the Wrangler has gotten so $$$ in the past few years and they have NO rebates ever because of the demand.
they need to put those very nice looking HID projector headlight from the Special Edition Dragon Wrangler For The Chinese Market, that would look bad ass.
dude, for the same price and same mpg, you can get a 2008-09 IS-F. One ranks #1 position in the latest jdpower dependability study, the other, #29. Can you guess which is which?
It's got very little to do with the power since the same engine in the Grand Cherokee (which is heavier) takes it to 60 in under 9 seconds. It's because the Wrangler is geared for pulling power not speed.
Christ it revs out to almost 6 and half grand before shifting when floored? My Cherokee with 4.0 winds out to about half that and will still take that Wrangler in a drag race, you'd think engines would be improving, I get about 21 hwy. though as opposed to 30.
WOW!! I'm sick of filling the tank up weekly. I only get 14 mpg on my Jeep. I'm sure he said it gets good gas mileage. He calls it a car and it gets good gas mileage. Did I watch the right review??
this vehicle is meant for off road not for speeding so I don't understand what's the big disappointment because the vehicle made it 60 miles per hour in 10 seconds
I hope Jeep make a lot of money ... as always American cars and American car executive thinking never look at head more than 30 feet ahead, forget the corner ahead...... 18 MPH haha.
If feel like jeep should make a wrangler where the doors are fixed so people can have that option. I would never take off my doors so having that feature for me would be pointless.
+Samantha Po you dont have to take the doors off. its bolted on fine, enough to ease your feminine anxiety. but if you ever want to impress your boyfriend or look different for a change, doors/top off is boss.
+Samantha Po The doors aren't fixed on any car the only difference is the wrangler is designed to have it's cars doors removed if wanted. It's not like the doors just fly off, it's takes some work to get them off/on
+Jeff M Yeah but there's no locking support when you open them, therefore they will come back and hit you. My jeep is a pain getting out in a driveway becuase of this reason.
in true dumbass Chrysler engineers fashion, 50 MPH 1st gear KILLS the 0-60 time. Put in the 8 speed auto with 1st-4th gears as low gears and that thing would be a beast.
Hi, This is from Italy. I have got a Diesel version of course... and guess what.. ? This jeep Wrangler is awesome. Simply fantasctic!
A buddy of mine bought a ‘09 Chevy Corvette C6 ZR1, and the car has never seen speeds over 90 mph. I'm really appreciating the real world reviews and honesty of this channel. Glad I subscribed. Keep up the great work!
Miss it. Gone but full of memories.
good honest review ...phenamenol (jamaica )
FANTASTIC review!! I'm looking at a used 2013 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited and funny enough, the one in this video is the same jeep I'm looking at! Red body and black cloth interior! I do agree though, why so much money???
It's a great vehicle I just honestly don't understand why it's so much money
Keep the Jeep wave alive ✌
i'm literally and love. I love this review
i love taking friends for a ride in my 2012 jeep. because they think its a slow jeep. and when i hit the gas the look on their face is awesome. love my jeep so much. wish they would come with a diesel already
When I drove one it seemed much quicker than 10 seconds. Definitely gotta know that sweet spot with these motors.
I pick mine up in two days. Can't wait.
Great review. Thanks alot, you pretty much answered all my questions and helped me decide whether to buy one or not.
Cheers
I've always wanted a Wrangler. And every time I think about getting one, I always skip it. Now, Jeep is building the best ones ever. A Rubicon Unlimited is what I need. the best car, the best jeep in all times. my favorite
First time watching this channel, this guy is filling in the gap while Top Gear isn't on.
Got a '15 2 door sport with a 6 speed and 3.21 gears. Intake, exhaust and de-casted intake manifolds, I can pick off a low 6 second 0-60.
Crazy that altitude makes that much of a difference 0-60. I gotta say I have a b package 2 door and although I never officially timed it, they have been said to pull a 6.9 which is nuts in a Wrangler.
Oh my gosh, the long 1st gear reminds me of a Crown Vic's. Wowzers.

Y'all should make a video of the 10th anniversary rubicon that would be great !

Yup, that's why every 0-60 MPH time is different.
Sorry Garrett, if it has four wheels and an engine it is a car. A car that happens to be a Jeep.
I have one myself. You should talk about the backseats. They are ridiculously uncomfortable. That´s a shame considering that you have a lot of space in the back as to incline them just a little.

Super! Want to see new Jeep Compas 2014 in your review.

My oh my, they do look like tire marks from perhaps a powerful German Coupe.
A K&N air filter and a more free flowing muffler will help with gas mileage. I gurantee it. I've seen 2-4 mpg increase.
I just put a supercharger in my 2011 wrangler and getting over 300 hp, great difference

does the 2O12 jeep wrangler have a key also
Can you do a review on parking the Jeep Wrangler in a parking lot?
I'm really close to buying one, so I'm nervous if I'm making the wrong choice here, so I have a few questions for the wrangler owners out there. How would you rate the following, seat comfort, internal technology, daily on-road use, and fuel efficiency.

Useful review :)
I want a blacked out wrangler, none of that dry looking plastic crap, im talking bout fully painted like this one
the best part of the wrangler is in the summer when you can put the top down
they need to put those very nice looking HID projector headlight from the Special Edition Dragon Wrangler For The Chinese Market, that would look bad ass.
You did not just call the Wrangler a station wagon.
+Bear Grylls It's funny because on my Michigan registration and proof of insurance, they both say "Station Wagon" for both my Wrangler & GC.
+GaynNovi Mine says truck
lol whats the green bar on the tach mean? don't take it past 2200 rpm or your gonna regret your mpg?
Rumor is that the 8 speed is coming for 2014
@romanmicagearguy yeah I saw those other wrangler videos you guys have. I meant for the people in general that you see every day on the road.
dude, for the same price and same mpg, you can get a 2008-09 IS-F. One ranks #1 position in the latest jdpower dependability study, the other, #29. Can you guess which is which?
Do they have a push start button to this?
So electronic diff.lockers? That mean no actual real diff.lockers
yep no diff.lockers
just way to make "easy money" on gullible people
Buy it, Lease it, Rent it or forget it. Isn't leasing it the same as renting it?
Anyone correct me if I am wrong but lease has interest. Where rent does not.
Huh?
Kevin H sorry fixed it. Auto correct.
Still doesn't make sense. Leasing a vehicle is the same as renting a vehicle. So I have no idea what your are trying to ask.
It hold gears nicely
Is there a review of the X3 35i anytime soon?
like the interior two tone colors
I definitely agree on the thing you said about the key lol
We've driven the new Wrangler off-road an reviewed it off-road twice now: watch?v=75qRpbqD2CQ
Is the 2014 Jeep Cherokee that they introduced really bad (ugly) like Nissan Juke? Or you think it's acceptable?
Love my wrangler. Only the gifted can understand that
It's got very little to do with the power since the same engine in the Grand Cherokee (which is heavier) takes it to 60 in under 9 seconds.
It's because the Wrangler is geared for pulling power not speed.
Roman, they need to pay you commission... Because you sold me. I need a Wrangler now.
Romaaaaaaaaaaan! Will you ever review the FJ cruiser???? Pleaaaaaaaaaase do so!
Roman did you make those tire marks at 4:50? Haha
I would take 2013 Nissan Xterra Pro-4X over this any day for my family.
Nissan is much more reliable, quicker and more practical. It also costs less
What color is this model?
If you're gonna do an on road review of this, can you do an off road review of a Corolla?
Good!
Believe it or not. My very first drivers license does say "valid for motor cycle, car & jeep"
Christ it revs out to almost 6 and half grand before shifting when floored?
My Cherokee with 4.0 winds out to about half that and will still take that Wrangler in a drag race, you'd think engines would be improving, I get about 21 hwy. though as opposed to 30.
Or what about a new 4Runner Sr5 4WD starting at $32,000, even the hardcore trail edition is $36,000 and I would trust it more than a jeep.
I don't think this a 13 cause my is a 13 and the speedometer and tachometer is backwards compared to mine
She probably has the rubicon x edition
I sure could use the four door over my two door
WOW!! I'm sick of filling the tank up weekly. I only get 14 mpg on my Jeep. I'm sure he said it gets good gas mileage. He calls it a car and it gets good gas mileage. Did I watch the right review??
L P how far do you drive it? I’m planning to get one. My job from home is about 2 miles.
I kinda think the 4door wrangler is pointless you might as well get a cherokee
Clicky, so the Cherokee is now a convertible, which can take the roof and doors off ?
Hmm guess I missed that when we ordered my dad's. ;-)
+KnightShadey hahaha
sweet!
nice
Roman called it on the 8 speed, and it only took Jeep 5 years to do it! lol
5 dollars per gallon is cheap. How would you feel about paying 8 dollars per gallon?
Not every SUV is a glorified grocery getter. Some, like the Nissan Xterra and Toyota FJ Cruiser are still bought primarily for off road use.
this vehicle is meant for off road not for speeding so I don't understand what's the big disappointment because the vehicle made it 60 miles per hour in 10 seconds
My go kart has four wheels and an engine, is that a car too?
I hope Jeep make a lot of money ... as always American cars and American car executive thinking never look at head more than 30 feet ahead, forget the corner ahead...... 18 MPH haha.
perfect.
I have hosed mine out a few times.
Not being a jerk or anything but isn't it an SUV not a car?
I get 10 miles to the gallon highway in my 94' 3 speed yj. wouldnt trade it for the world.
So why get it? ;)
Trust me, the soft top is way louder. It gets annoying
Jokes on you my 2013 sahara not only gets dirty af, but no carpet inside it, pretty muddy!
Nice.

+Jeff M Yeah but there's no locking support when you open them, therefore they will come back and hit you. My jeep is a pain getting out in a driveway becuase of this reason.
why is this called a wrangler?
I had a '89 2.5 it would take 14 mins to reach 60mph😭
I can get it much cheaper and I'm talking thousands here!
i'll take my TJ over this anyday
in true dumbass Chrysler engineers fashion, 50 MPH 1st gear KILLS the 0-60 time. Put in the 8 speed auto with 1st-4th gears as low gears and that thing would be a beast.
a four door station wagon O-o fucking hell.
