- It’s been nearly 24 years since the original demos were delivered, 7501-7503. They were 102-DW3SSs Which were delivered in 2000. A year later in 2001 we get our first official D4000, 7504. Creating a series of buses which had a very long life span. I don’t think anyone could have predicted that they would last THIS long when they first entered service. Lasting more than two decades and around for five presidencies, they helped people get to work for this long. Of course they had issues along the way but they kept on going somehow. Their end wasn’t easy to catch as they were only sent out during rush hours but that point. I will never forget these buses, I will miss seeing them at my childhood mall. That being Garden State Plaza. Hearing them blocks down was always exciting, it’s sad to see that they’ve all retired now just like that. More than two decades though, they definitely need a rest, and I’m glad I captured them till their death.
I am glad I got to drive them. 7783, 7407, 7932, 7661, 8301, 8304, 8284, 8029, 7645, 7801, 8226, 8216, 8248 was my absolute favorite buses. Driving has not been fun since the new CTs rolled in.
I can see why. Especially in South Jersey, when all they basically have are 18000s........
Well I'm not from sith jersey I'm Newark and I remember how the buses run over their I started when they were 25 and I got on these buses for a long time and I really do miss that and you really do start to missed that when you leave you're hometown and you go somewhere different it changes things quickly that you learn to appreciate them more because we're I'm at the buses don't run like they do over their I want to say every 15: to 20 minutes thank you for showing these buses that I have ride at one time in my life
So many memories on the 313, 319, 409 & 551 mainly on the 409 😭😭😣😢🥺 I miss listening to those Jake breaks & seeing them speed down on the NJ turnpike and PABT
I was lucky to catch a lot of videos of the remaining MCI D4000’s, I will start uploading them
And the DDS sixty engine with the B500 Allison Transmission sweetened the deal along with the D4500 even though it wasn’t mentioned
Farewell 7501 I really miss that bus I’d actually rode the 7500-8000 series in the 2000’s and 7501 is my favorite bus of all it’s a 2000 model but made in 1999 which is 25 years ago but I happen to see 7502 from Ironbound garage being preserved by the New Jersey Transportation Heritage Collection from time to time
I'm not surprised the D4000s lasted as long as they did. Think about how long the MC-9Bs, and even some of the MC-9As lasted for NJT. Hell, I'm old enough to remember when the last Flxible Metro D's rolled through Philadelphia heading to and from South Jersey.
They'll be missed in the future
no, they are missed now
Because of 2014-22 D4500CT arrivals, they are taken over the Midtown 100-300s
Those were great buses!
Will be greatly missed!

@@Eaze-i9kI basically grew up with Oradell’s D4000’s
NJT went downhill since flexible grumman 870 & nova rts busses retired.
Those buses retired too soon and now it’s these NABIS running alongside the MCIS. I’m used to the NABIS but I miss the Flixible Metro buses. MCI D series buses are the best.
Goodbye 👋
