Rip legend
what a historical rugby highlight .. a game I will never forget watching
chris is now playing with jonah
Respect and love from France
This is the 2nd best match I have seen. It used to be my favourite until Japan beat South Africa in 2015. I couldn't get away with the emotions of the players, the fans and the entire country. Their performance was unreal too. It blew me away at the time.
The Japan Ireland game last week was my 3rd favourite followed closely by the Scotland 38-38 England.
This game comes in 2nd for me. An absolute classic.
someone, describing the French flair, said it was chaos...
that's about it... French flair happen when the French players are riding a wave a pure chaos, the ball carrier not knowing who will have the ball next, only that he has to pass it... the opponents of course on the back foot because they don't get any clue about what will happen next...
the only one knowing anything about it is the French player trying his damnest to be the next carrier and then, move the ball, keep it alive
what we're actually seeing with the new French side is, they're organizing the chaos. They prepare a bunch of set plays that make use of moves/passes seemingly chaotic.
less spontaneous, but don't rely on only circumstances.
every teams do have set plays. But for now, only the French side capitalize on perceived chaos... and let's be honest, the result is beautiful and entertaining... the 2021 6 nations was a great vintage
When I was a boy the French were the team to watch, twenty Years on let us remember the big man. R.I.P J.L.
Best WCR game, no doubt.
How things have changed.
Not really mate. They upset them in 2007 and almost upset then again in 2011 losing by 1 point
@Maori Boy I am aware of that. I didn't say every game. I was just pointing out a couple in reference to the post.
@@BuntyBoymadman We smashed them in the QF in 2015.
The closest France will ever get to a RWC title. Luck doesn't figure here.
2007
2011... they were robbed by Joubert... with an honest referee in final, France would have won the 2011 title... 2011 was the closest for a title... then I would put 1995 but IRB had decided that the cup would be Bok, it was a political decision... France robbe din semi, and NZ trobbed in final... France Nz in 1995 would have been a pretty final... France was clearly able to beat NZ in 1995 after 1994 2 following victories IN NZ and 1 victory and 1 defeat in 1995 against the same AB... Truly a match which would have been interesting to see... The referee of the semi final, an irish, received a golden watch (by Boks federation) for his "pretty" refereing in the semi Boks-France ;)
2011 you were playing with 16 men. It is easier isn't it? I think our next generation of players are going to perform better and better. The gap is getting smaller and smaller. NZ is now beaten by Ireland and Argentina. Your team is no longer above the others.
@@zenshulighting8887 They were eliminated in the Semis in 2007. 2011 was the closest they ever got.

RIP Domi, best world cup game ever, respect and tears from NZ.
Thanks New Zealand . now , he is with Jonah !
Down 24-10, France scored 33 unanswered points. For me , this is still the greatest performance in World Cup history.
But yet can’t even beat Australia 🇦🇺.
@@baileygilbert4766 trop fêté la victoire contre les Blacks ... plus de force pour la finale
Rip Christophe 😢😢😢
So tragic, small in nature but a giant of a man. Much respect, rest in peace from an England fan. 🇨🇵 🙏
When the French just play they are the best side in the world..... respect from Wales
...when they play 80'!!!!
Wales beated France yesterday. Respect from a french fan. Both teams weren't at their best but France is no longer that talented Rugby team they used to be for at least 10 years.
@@fabulousfrance Fabrice I think the better side lost that game. We the Welsh was very lucky to win. You will play a huge part in the next six nations. After watching that game my I be the first to say..... welcome back :)

R.I.P Dominici. This game instantly sprung to mind: a match for the ages.
it's called "French flair " for a reason
RIL to Dominici and Lomu
Christophe Dominick rip ... probably one of the best 2nd half individual performances in history ... sad sad day
yup have to admit when the French play their free flowing rugby there's no better team from a big kiwi Rugby and Rugby league fan
this is the French Flair ! :)
Dominici brought me here. How sad. RIP
RIP Jonah Lomu. RIP Christophe Dominici.
That has to be one of the very best games I have ever seen at RWC and one of the best ever. France was a magnificent team when they got in this mood while the All Blacks were relying on Lomu way too much at that point.
I'm a kiwi but France was awesome that day. Even the great Jonah lomu wasn't enough. Much respect!
Lomu was unwell.
@@johndonwood4305 it's insane right? Dude was pretty much on dialysis by then wasn't he?
Even Jonah Lomu cheating by taking drugs like all his team. NZ saoule be ashamed. So funny how a lot of them get caught on drugs.
@@remigruet
Remi shut up and please respect our opponent, Jonah is not there anymore to defend himself a second reason to shut up. It's Rugby here not football or you will grab your teeth on the floor.
From a French fan!
@@arno222444 Sad thing is he would be here to defend if he hadn't cheating :) Funny how everything we have done bad disapears once dead.
You, me and even my teeth won't change facts, he died earlier because of cheating, no matter how loud you cry.
From nz, One of the great world cup games ever. I will never forget this game, France were awesome that day, a team that when they turn up, they are unstoppable.
I won't forget either. Me an my bro in balclutha up early drinking an smkin.till just after half time it was fun
Thanks . we are sad the same way when Jonah left us ....... they are together now !
RIP 🙏🙏🙏 Christophe Dominici; may his soul and the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen - Irish rugby supporter.
Very upsetting alright.
When France plays at its best, nobody can beat them...the problem is that it usually happen only once per World Cup! If I was playing France in quarter final, I would be scared, but if they do already an amazing game against Ireland!
douguette1,no one can touch the All Blacks when they play at there best.
Kupa Cronk apparently SA can
What are you talking about? The French did in this match and have done so before , The Try From The Edge Of The World.
And then 20yrs later still havent beaten the AB.
@@virgil81nz 2007 as well what happened france all black again ?
I remember watching this game it was unbelievable the French were at there best no fear but new Zealand I felt panicked in second half but all credit to France on there day they can upset any side
I think this is one of the greatest match from France in rugby, It's just too bad we lost to australia in the final.
Well here we are again saying a tragic goodbye to another legend of the game - the word legend is too easily passed about these days but Dominici and Lomu really were and are legends of the game, RIP to both you left a mark that will last the test of time - we knew (I’m a Welshman) that when France were in the World Cup look out - you just never knew which would turn up but goddamn when they got going they were nigh on unstoppable- talk about flair - this game is up there with the greatest World Cup games ever - both played incredible rugby - Dominici’s try I remember well and the atmosphere in the pub was electric even in wales - and that Lomu try going through 6 french players was immense- teams of today could learn a lot about instinct rugby from watching these games - RIP both 👌🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🍻🏴 🇳🇿 🇫🇷
Will never forget this game, it was just unreal to watch on TV live.
On a good day when the French get the bit between their teeth they are unstoppable - has always been the case
Defo. Remember jumping out of my seat when Dominici scored the try in the second half
@@UrbanSpaceman100 I'm French and I remember that my mother was so happy she accidentally punched my sister right in the nose rasing her fist for that try... I still remember seeing this game live and I was barely 8
I'm English but when France think that they have nothing to loose they can play like no other team.
Christophe Dominici what a player, RIP
maybe the best match from France ever
I think it's sure, not maybe.
I think it is... Definitly ... Having watched all France 'games !!
No. Only one of the best
Titou Lamaison, how we miss such an awesome 10. He made us win that game with his magical feet.
Man oh man, I was extremely privileged to have watched something this special all those years ago! Imagine, who has ever scored 33 consecutive points vs the ABs?
I was there it was electric!
The only team that has scored more than 40 to the AB's!

@@fabulousfrance And they did it twice... in 2000, will beat again the ABs in Marseille 41-33 ... with beginning by a 17-00...
My all time favourite rugby match. Amazing.
Had to come here after hearing about the tragic passing of Christophe Dominici.
You turned the world on fire in this game and it will be remembered forever.
Vale Christophe.
Dominici & Bernat- Salles were my favorite wingers.
Repose en six Christophe ;-(((
Merci pour le rugby. Condoléances à toute sa famille et ses proches.
Rugby was better before, now are player thar are too bulk, we need more slim players.
To be honest I was watching Lomu there and he wouldn't be able to get away with that kind of stuff now, where people were afraid of tackling him etc.,.
2:25 that rebound and try were just legendary!
Repose en paix Christophe dominici. Le french flair 🇫🇷✝️
Still get goosebumps watching this now...
Sad day for sport legends. Never forget your number 11 as jona lomu. RIP both together.
RIP Christophe. Bon voyage.
The only team to have scored more than 40 points to the AB's. I wish today's team could have 1/3 of the talent the 1999 team had.
Certainly a shock result. Remember watching this and being in amazement as to what France were dishing out. We mustn’t forget though that France had a core squad of players who had done s back to back grand slam in 97 and 98. They were no mugs. Bizarre decision by NZ to play Cullen at 13
I will never forget the twickenham crowd during the game... OMG it's was like a heavy metal live show !
And now both Ibanez and Galthié are in the french coaching staff going forwards to the RWC in France 2023.
1:37 - France's #15 did not want to tackle Lomu lol

I was French that day. In fact whoever NZ play, I'm them for the day.
ah ah !
You must like backing losers
you aussie mate?
No I'm the same way too but I'm not ashamed to admit that it's because your the team to beat 😉
The best match ever : insane ! Lomu, Lamaison, Dominici : fabulous !
It was so unreal. I will remember this match all my life because I was at my parent's a couple of months after my car accident and one of our dog was having babies just under the TV!
I miss her and I miss them, but still what a game. As a French/Basque guy I feel like it's definitely part of the legend.
Thank you so much for the souvenirs! o7

Christophe 😭 Repose En Paix
RIP DOMINICI
That's the first "Rugby World Cup" I watched back in 1999, mainly due to my dad who told me to come and watch Jonah Lomu tramp over the English defence and then I got hooked on watching rugby!. They were two great teams the New Zealanders and the French back then. Both teams play tomorrow again in the current World Cup and I hope they still make it out the Pool stages. Good trip down memory lane..
I am very sad for him, his famiy and the game of rugby, His name will live on but he shoud have been telling his grand-children about his glorious career as an old man. RIP
Christophe Dominici, the man who inspired the comeback passed away aged 48. If Dominici didn’t get the bounce, it would’ve been a different final the next week
Incredible stat = Over a period of 20 minutes in the second half, France scored a 33-0...
RIP Monsieur Dominici - incredible player, who lit up the game. The world of sport was blessed by his presence, the world at large is so much worse off for his premature departure.
Je revois ce match avec émotion.
Dominicain et Lomu décisif ce jour là. Étrange destinée..Ils sont là fierté de ce noble sport..reposez en paix..
Dominici bien sur
Rip Christophe, such a sad reminder of the tragic power of depression...
2:28 Au revoir monsieur Dominici
RIP 😢😭😭😭 1972 - 2020
There's only one team who can beat the All Blacks like that
RIP Domi!
It's interesting how this incredible match is always cited as the ultimate example of "French flair". The only try they scored with passing - admitedly a superb one - was in the first half, where they were otherwise dominated. Amazing as it was, the comeback was based entirely on kicking: Two drops, two pens, two tries direct from chips and one from a hack ahead. Not a scoring pass in the whole lot. It was exhilarating and is rightly celebrated but it wasn't really about "flair". It was a triumph of spirit and wits.
.
French here and I agree. Titou Lamaison had a perfect game that day and he's not given enough credit. I just wish France had an outstanding number 10 like him more often. We still change the player in that position every few months instead of choosing one and sticking with him for 4-5 years.....
Sourdust
French “flair” is as much about creativity and risk taking as it is about flowing rugby. Not just passing game then. There goes the clarification.
Wathing this is a great tribute to a magnificent player, so sad! That semi final of 99 is cherished by all rugby fans in France, I watched it in my local pub when living in Dublin among other frogs, a very special moment. As a French rugby fan I'll cherish that memory until I die. RIP Christophe Domici you will never be forgotten.
What a game that was, i was a 21 ysar old player and we were watching this in the clubhouse with our kiwi coach....dont think ive ever seen a man so shell shocked. Just a shame that france was nowhere to be seen vs the aussies in the final
Bounce of the ball went France's way. RIP CHRISTOPHE DOMINICI🇨🇵 AND JONAH LOMU 🇳🇿
Rip Domi 😢😢😢 so great, so strong, so fast
I recall after France beat us in 2007,the very next day at work I had a young student working with me from France,he saw the game in a large sports bar in Christchurch and was the only French man there was shouted many drinks by our kiwis,I said to him shame your team didnt go on to win the final,e said it does not matter we ave beeten the best in the world! and would give me this wry smile during our week together!
Repose en paix Christophe. MERCI.

Why couldn't NZ just pass the ball to Lomu?
They did!

man we got smoked in the 2nd half. the french did their thing and some......respect from nz.
The greatest side-step ever in history is performed by the French full-back. And he was the defender...😂😂😂
It was a great win for France, but they played a very dirty game. Kronfeld was eye gouged several times early on, and had to step back for his own well being.
France was that close from being world champions in both football and rugby in a row! And in both cases facing a yellow team in the final!
