This is the 2nd best match I have seen. It used to be my favourite until Japan beat South Africa in 2015. I couldn't get away with the emotions of the players, the fans and the entire country. Their performance was unreal too. It blew me away at the time.
The Japan Ireland game last week was my 3rd favourite followed closely by the Scotland 38-38 England.
This game comes in 2nd for me. An absolute classic.

someone, describing the French flair, said it was chaos...
that's about it... French flair happen when the French players are riding a wave a pure chaos, the ball carrier not knowing who will have the ball next, only that he has to pass it... the opponents of course on the back foot because they don't get any clue about what will happen next...
the only one knowing anything about it is the French player trying his damnest to be the next carrier and then, move the ball, keep it alive
what we're actually seeing with the new French side is, they're organizing the chaos. They prepare a bunch of set plays that make use of moves/passes seemingly chaotic.
less spontaneous, but don't rely on only circumstances.
every teams do have set plays. But for now, only the French side capitalize on perceived chaos... and let's be honest, the result is beautiful and entertaining... the 2021 6 nations was a great vintage

2011... they were robbed by Joubert... with an honest referee in final, France would have won the 2011 title... 2011 was the closest for a title... then I would put 1995 but IRB had decided that the cup would be Bok, it was a political decision... France robbe din semi, and NZ trobbed in final... France Nz in 1995 would have been a pretty final... France was clearly able to beat NZ in 1995 after 1994 2 following victories IN NZ and 1 victory and 1 defeat in 1995 against the same AB... Truly a match which would have been interesting to see... The referee of the semi final, an irish, received a golden watch (by Boks federation) for his "pretty" refereing in the semi Boks-France ;)

That's the first "Rugby World Cup" I watched back in 1999, mainly due to my dad who told me to come and watch Jonah Lomu tramp over the English defence and then I got hooked on watching rugby!. They were two great teams the New Zealanders and the French back then. Both teams play tomorrow again in the current World Cup and I hope they still make it out the Pool stages. Good trip down memory lane..

Christophe Dominici, the man who inspired the comeback passed away aged 48. If Dominici didn’t get the bounce, it would’ve been a different final the next week

It's interesting how this incredible match is always cited as the ultimate example of "French flair". The only try they scored with passing - admitedly a superb one - was in the first half, where they were otherwise dominated. Amazing as it was, the comeback was based entirely on kicking: Two drops, two pens, two tries direct from chips and one from a hack ahead. Not a scoring pass in the whole lot. It was exhilarating and is rightly celebrated but it wasn't really about "flair". It was a triumph of spirit and wits.

French here and I agree. Titou Lamaison had a perfect game that day and he's not given enough credit. I just wish France had an outstanding number 10 like him more often. We still change the player in that position every few months instead of choosing one and sticking with him for 4-5 years.....

      Sourdust
French “flair” is as much about creativity and risk taking as it is about flowing rugby. Not just passing game then. There goes the clarification.

Wathing this is a great tribute to a magnificent player, so sad! That semi final of 99 is cherished by all rugby fans in France, I watched it in my local pub when living in Dublin among other frogs, a very special moment. As a French rugby fan I'll cherish that memory until I die. RIP Christophe Domici you will never be forgotten.
