  • This is an overview of Futuna island or a travel guide the French Islands. Before 1961, Wallis and Futuna was a French protectorate, then a colony administered from New Caledonia. In 1961 it became a French overseas territory and in 2003 a French overseas collectivity. Wallis and Futuna is comprised of three main islands (Wallis, Futuna and Alofi) and a number of tiny islets.Wallis and Futuna, officially the Territory of the Wallis and Futuna Islands, is a French island collectivity in the South Pacific, situated between Tuvalu to the northwest, Fiji to the southwest, Tonga to the southeast, Samoa to the east, and Tokelau to the northeast. Mata Utu is its capital and largest city.

    Futuna and Uvea were part of Ancient Tongan Empire since Lapita settlement 90 percent of Villages named by Tongan Navigators aslo Talietumu fortress 🏯 😊
