My father used to fry pimento seeds in the oil first and then remove them the pan before starting the whole process of cooking as we just saw. But I remember my mother cutting up pork belly into little cubes and fry them first until crunchy. And then she would do the above. So yes, I have had pork in my ackee and saltfish in my youth. I don't do that way theses days but its still my favourite breakfast.
Thank you so much for this recipe. I tasted at work before it was great loved it😍😋 It looks very easy to make. I brought all ingredients getting ready to make it for my family. Thank you so much and keep up the good work🥇
Me know a so you like it but next time tek out di big hola pepper and di whole heap a thyme..cut dem up just like how you cut up the other stuff...but other that that it look good you can do your ting and it smell good to.....me waan boil dumpling wid mine....
Thanks for sharing, everything looks tasty. Only ques: why didn’t you cut the scotch bonnet pepper? That whole pepper sitting on that plate looks like death 💀🌶 🥵 lol.
You never cut a scotch bonnet open, it's so hot it will kill the whole dish if it bursts during cooking. It does however give Jamaican cooking it's unique spice flavour when added to traditional dishes
Where the fish at? Not enough fish added and also the fish is all mash up and crumbled..I want to taste bigger pieces of cod when I’m enjoying my dish and the thyme should of stayed in longer during the cooking process. Everything else is on point. Good job.
I know this vid is pretty old, but hoping someone sees my question: I can't find salt fish.....is it possible to use fresh cod substitute? If so, how do I get it to the right consistency for this dish? Thanks
I use fresh or frozen codfish sometimes to avoid the salt. I season with Mrs Dash and plenty other seasonings. It will taste different but still delicious.
OMG, why is that Scotch bonnet pepper on the plate? I was waiting for him to pick it up by the stem and take a big ol' bite out of it. Seriously, don't put something on the plate that could send someone into fits. Not cool ... or smart. (In America, people sue over everything. You'd lose the suit, having put the offending item on the plate, as if it is safe to bite into and chow down on.)
You write in English but you can't understand when its English is what he is speaking. Or are you referring to his accent? Is it that what you mean? Either way, not a really bright thing to say.
Hi Chef, that looks absolutely amazing!!

My signature dish king. Bless up.👑🇯🇲👊🏿
I have to boil my sailfish more than one time to remove more salt.
i agree; I think boiling once, especially if not soaked overnight, would still be rather salty
I realize it's kinda off topic but does anyone know a good site to stream new movies online ?
@Benton Mohamed lately I have been using Flixzone. You can find it by googling =)
3 times usually does the trick for me.

njackson74 I guess you could do but trust me it wouldn’t be the same. The salt compliments the ackee well.

Chef the only thing wrong is that I'm not eating that food right now! Looks delicious
Where should I be getting my ackee from ?
Any West Indian/Caribbean grocery store, even some Walmart’s have it
@@zarinaa96 in the states your only gonna find it canned cause safety
@@rjframe4410 yes of course I’m aware but many people cooking it for the first time might not know.
@@rjframe4410 It'll always be canned if you aren't getting it from the Caribbean.
Can I use whiting fish ?
Daquone Hart need to be salt fish
Ok thankyou
There are many variations so, yes, you can use whiting. I also use codfish (not salted) sometimes.
Wow beautiful
Rumblings are missing from the recepi

I know this vid is pretty old, but hoping someone sees my question: I can't find salt fish.....is it possible to use fresh cod substitute? If so, how do I get it to the right consistency for this dish? Thanks
If you cant find salted cod. I would buy the fresh cod and season it with salt or soak the fresh cod in salt overnight.
