    My father used to fry pimento seeds in the oil first and then remove them the pan before starting the whole process of cooking as we just saw.
    But I remember my mother cutting up pork belly into little cubes and fry them first until crunchy. And then she would do the above.
    So yes, I have had pork in my ackee and saltfish in my youth. I don't do that way theses days but its still my favourite breakfast.

    • @amanojin3338
      @amanojin3338 4 года назад +6

      You never cut a scotch bonnet open, it's so hot it will kill the whole dish if it bursts during cooking. It does however give Jamaican cooking it's unique spice flavour when added to traditional dishes

      If you cant find salted cod. I would buy the fresh cod and season it with salt or soak the fresh cod in salt overnight.

    • @nram1
      @nram1 3 года назад

      I use fresh or frozen codfish sometimes to avoid the salt. I season with Mrs Dash and plenty other seasonings. It will taste different but still delicious.

    OMG, why is that Scotch bonnet pepper on the plate? I was waiting for him to pick it up by the stem and take a big ol' bite out of it. Seriously, don't put something on the plate that could send someone into fits. Not cool ... or smart. (In America, people sue over everything. You'd lose the suit, having put the offending item on the plate, as if it is safe to bite into and chow down on.)

      Or are you referring to his accent? Is it that what you mean?
      Either way, not a really bright thing to say.
