I think he is the most improved player on the team.. you can tell he has put in the work... the injuries to Clingan and Castle might have been a blessing in disguise bc guys like Solo got way more minutes than they would have.. now Stewart is starting to live up to his billing.. Diarra was going to play but he probably played more than he would have.. and now that his confidence is high and he's worked on his game, the team goes to another level

Literally an offensive machine. Even if you defend their primary action AND their secondary action. They still have a scoring threat at every position. And they play hard and with tremendous IQ along with the obvious talent. And they’re long and athletic on defense. AK particularly is an underrated defender

Sounds Iike one of the best Civic Center crowds in years. (Yes, I still call it that). Shows how good UConn can be when the refs don’t decide to handicap them by the whistle.

Can UConn repeat this year?????
Since the start of last season they are 55-10. Not bad for the last 2 seasons, so far!!!!! Can they do it????? Being a repeat champion in any sport is extremely difficult. College basketball is probably the most difficult to do it in esp with the atmosphere, upsets, Cinderellas n everything else that goes on in the NCAA Tourney. In my opinion, it's the fairest and best system in all of college sports to crown a champion. They are on a great run this year and hope they don't get too confident. One game at a time, one goal at a time
1)win Big East regular season title to get a favorable seed for the 2nd goal
2)win the Big East Tourney so they get a favorable (and deserving seed for #3
3)win the NCAA Tourney and bring another trophy back to Storr. They do have what it takes. They're playing good ball and they aren't just beating teams, they are pounding teams.They should have won that game in Kansas, their only other loss came in Big East play (everyone knows how Big East games are dogfights)

I personally think as each day of this college basketball season passes, UConn has gotten better than they were every previous day! Normally I don't predict this far ahead but at this point there's no beating around the proverbial bush - it's looking more and more like the NCAA tournament should just be called the UConn Invitational because I can't see anyone beating them and I mean anyone! We r supposed to be in an era where balance and the portal are supposed to have made college basketball level, but UConn has completely defied that and then some! It's gonna take a combination of your supreme effort and UConn's own help to have a chance to knock them out! But that is a "gonna take" and I don't see that happening! How fast Danny Hurley has flipped the switch with the program is ridiculously absurd and UConn is on a level of their own! U miswell already pencil them in for at least the Final Four JS! I've thought for weeks that Marquette was overrated and UConn put them in that place! But what UConn is doing to everyone at the moment is just downright stupid
What's been as equally remarkable has been the quick "this good" success ascent from Hurley as a head coach! U never got any indication to be honest from his past that this tidal wave was coming at any point! He'd had limited success at his previous stops and when he took over at UConn their program was at a crossroads and then followed with back to back first round NCAA tournament exits so this burst the last two seasons was like a comet coming out of nowhere! Don't get me wrong he's a solid coach and intense to a fault, but this has been shocking to an extent!
@@bradlewis6514I saw it coming. Every team he’s coached he’s lead them to the tournament, hell, he even got a win at his other school. But you gotta realize, UConn not only has amazing staff overall, but it’s easier to recruit to a good team like this.

Only concern I have as a UConn fan/grad is history is often unkind to dominate-looking teams come tournament time.
UCLA - 1974 (though they won 10 in 12 years)
Indiana St. - 1979
Houston - 1983
Georgetown - 1985
Oklahoma - 1988
UNLV - 1991
UConn - 1994-96
Duke - 1999
With rosters fluctuating more in the one-and-done era, the tourney became more and more of a crapshoot, so few dominant teams existed since. Really curious to see how this all pans out. Let me know if I missed any dominant teams that didn’t win NCAA?

Will this win make Uconn overtake Purdue as the number 1 overall seed in the NCAAs?
Probably not. I think UConn is the better team by eye test, and player to player they have the better team with 4 players having an oRTG of 110+ and just having bigger guards, but on paper Purdue is “better”
Let Purdue keep their overall #1, it doesn't even matter. UConn is already so dominant, plus playing in New York and Boston coming out as the #1 in the East is so unfair to anyone else in that bracket.

Only possible kryptonite I can think of for this team is a team with a dominant center if they can get Clingan in foul trouble. Otherwise this team’s just too good
Yeah. The refs could decide the point spread is too high and take matters into their own hands. UConn has been in a few rock fights this year because the refs decided to control the games the way they wanted, especially when UConn is on the road. The games Tuesday in Creighton and later in the year in Marquette and Providence will show that.
For the most part Clingan did a good job playing straight up on defense this game. He talked about it post game. Hopefully he's learned his lesson. It's not about the block, it's about the contest.

Obviously he’s a good athlete for someone with his frame, but his toughest challenges will be guys quicker than him and/or with craftiness to their game, and it’s critically important that he maintains his discipline vs those guys- even if it means conceding a bucket here and there
As good as he is it’s just not something worth taking for granted, especially if refs call touchier fouls than they do in big east play. But if he’s on his A-game and stays out of bad foul trouble I just don’t see this team losing

Marquette is a great team, especially analytically, but they also suffered an injury. Keep in mind, this team went head to head with Purdue and only lost by 3.
