    Thanks, it worked nicely for me! I have to be honest, I've been a little bit stressed out about how short the aging was by default lol. When I play Sims 3 I have my age spans on epic. Makes me become more attached to my Sims and I'll feel more emotionally involved with them, haha.

    This popped up in my newsfeed today. I first watched this video last year. I wanted to apply a custom aging system to my game and did a search and your video came up. I believe it was the first time I heard of you. It opened a whole new world for me in sims 2. I binge watched everything you had ever made! Thank you for all your hardwork and for sharing your passion for sims with me and everyone else. ❤❤❤

    Hi :-) I've played TS2 for 20 years now but never knew how much I could adjust it to my own wishes until I discovered your channel ^.^" Thank you so much for givimg me a brand new game (experience)!
    I did some research and figured out the aspiration lines for elders. Basically the min and max numbers are for elders without an aspiration bonus (gold, silver, bronze, normal, bad). The aspiration level bonus are stated in days that get substracted from the minimum days or added to the maximum you set in the elder lines above.
    Edit: the numbers in "aspiration level" (highest, high, ...) seem to be the threshholds on how many points a certain level needs to count towards a reward or penalty (gold, bad, etc)
    (You probably figured that out by now yourself or someone else commented on that but I thought I'd share just in case)

    Previously, I just went into the "Other" tab" and changed the "Days in prev. Age" and "Age duration" fields to match what I wanted, but that got annoying whenever new sims were born, so it's great to finally have something in the background to do this.

    Its most likely one day less because you can age them up with a cake a day earlier. The game kinda assumes you’d do that. Funny because i’d never, not gonna make their already short lives even a day shorter

      late reply, but it's actually because of how computers work. Computers recognize 0 as the first number, so when you ask a computer to count down from 5 before doing something, it'll go 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0, and then do it after 0.

    Thanks again for the tutorial I had forgotten a lot about sims PE and some I didn't even know so it was a great help.
    I also love your aging system and even though I didn't use it exactly It gave me ideas on how to make my own.
    If someone needs inspiration here is how I proceeded.
    First I decided of the real life ages for each stage of sims life.
    So for me it is
    Ages
    baby 0 -> 2 (in real life I would say 3 because that's when you go to kindergarten but babies are boring :p)
    Toddler 2 ->6
    Child 6 -> 12 (at 6 you go to "real" school and learn to read and write)
    Teen 12 -> 18 (at 12 you're in high school)
    Adult 18 -> 65 (65 or so is the earlier age of retirement here in France) (in the sims 3 with the young adult I cut this in 18 to 30 YA and 30 to 65 adult)
    Elder 65 -> 75 to 95
    Then I rewrite this in term of years per stage
    years spent
    baby 2
    Toddler 4
    Child 6
    Teen 6
    Adult 47
    Elder 10 to 30
    Then depending on my playstyle I choose a number of ingame days per real life years. If I want to play longer with my sims and have time to get to know them and make them all prodigies :P I go with 2 days per year.
    I also feel it fits having a day and a half pregnancy, one day would be 6 months so one day and a half = 9 months.
    I convert the years I just calculated in days and substract 1 for Sims PE
    days spent
    baby 4 -> 3
    Toddler 8 ->7
    Child 12 -> 11
    Teen 12 -> 11
    Adult 94 -> 93
    Elder 20 To 60 -> 19 To 59
    Then if one of my sims ever goes to uni, when he goes back to the neighborhood after failing or graduating I'll simply go to sims PE to remove the number of days he spent at uni from the number of days he has left.
    I won't subtract 1 to that as it's already done by Sims PE, I set the number of days in adult life at 46 because it was 47 -1, when I check a new adult Sims PE tells me it has 46 days left, the -1 is already done.
    As for the playable sims in the neighborhood before I begin playing for the first time, what I do is I first check the standard lifespan from Maxis
    Baby: (3 days)
    Toddler: (4 days)
    Child: (8 days)
    Teen: (up to 15 days) Note: With University, teens can grow up early in order to go to college.
    Young adult: (varies; usually 24 days) University only. Lasts until the Sim leaves the college sub-neighborhood.
    Adult: (29 days)
    Elder: (varies; range is 9-31 days) Sims who have higher aspiration levels when aging generally get more time, but there is a random element. Followed by death.
    Then I go to Sims PE, check their remaining days and calculate what should be in my own system.
    Take Mortimer Goth for example when you first load him in Sims PE it says 5 days left (-1 included so I won't be subtracting anything from now on)
    If I take into account the longer elder lifespan from maxis and mine it gives : he has 5 days of 31 left, how many of 60 does that give him ? 60x5/31 = 10 (9.6 rounded)
    Also in case you're interested there is also an aging mod for pets in the same place you got your normal one, just in case you find pets age spans don't match your human's one :)

    • @PleasantSims
      @PleasantSims  5 лет назад +3

      Wow Jeza! You play about as in-depth as I do when it comes to aging! I calculated the premade ages very similarly. I love your system too, and I'm so glad I was able to help!
      About the pets, I really haven't paid much attention to their aging, but maybe I will think about it for the future. I haven't had a pet pass away yet, but their lives should definitely be much shorter.

      She’s accounting for an adult being alive long enough to care for their kid till adulthood and to attend college. Plus she’s making it realistic by them becoming elders at 60 days. So, that age is pretty reasonable

However, when a Sims ages to elder, in their age it says they are 49 days old (not 54 as it should be). Does anyone have the same problem? hey cindy! i edited my aging system last night with the one in this video, but i wanted to edit the ages for the pleasantview sims because i wanted to play rotationally. i figured out to do the adults; but, i'm a little confused with the toddlers/children/teens. so if i have a child sim, say Alexander Goth, how do i determine how many days he has left? I guess more specifically, do i put how many days he has left in his entire life (up until elder age, 60) or how many days are left in his current life stage (child)?

    • @PleasantSims
      @PleasantSims  5 лет назад +2

      Hi Ellie! You can determine the ages of the child/teen Pleasantview Sims by subtracting the number of days they have left in their current lifestage from the number of days you have set for that stage. For example, according to the Sims wiki, when you first play Alexander Goth he is four days away from becoming a teenager. My child lifespan ends at the age of 12, so I subtract four days from 12 and that makes him 8 years old when the game starts. This is how I determine the age of the premades. You don't have to change anything in Sim PE for these Sims unless you want to. If you do, just put how many days they have left in the current lifestage. They will automatically adopt your new system once they age up to the next lifestage.

    • @PleasantSims
      @PleasantSims  6 лет назад +7

      I don't remember exactly what ages I chose for everyone, but I used two different techniques for determining their ages.
      For some of the sims, I went to the Sims Wiki and looked at their days remaining. I think it's listed for almost every Sim somewhere in their bio. For example, on Don Lothario's bio it says "When Don is first played in The Sims 2, he is 28 days away from becoming an elder." Then I subtracted 28 from 60 (when my Sims become an elder) and imagined his age was 32. So I didn't even have to change his age because he was already 28 days from an elder.
      For others, I added up all the days they would have lived in my aging system and assigned them that age. For example, any Sim at the very beginning of the adult life stage would be 21. The Caliente sisters I made 21 I think - so I set their remaining days to 39.
      It wasn't an exact science. I basically just set them to what I think they should have been. :)

  • @victorpaesplinio2865
    @victorpaesplinio2865 3 года назад +1

    Thank you for the tutorial! I always wanted age consistency in my game!
    I have a hypothesis about why we should input a number 1 less in SimPe. It is due to the way the game handles aging. It starts the counter at 0, not 1.
    If my hypothesis is true I have a tip to you to make adult ages easier.
    First of all, sorry about the long comment.
    We all know that Sims age at 6 pm, no matter what. It means that if a Child blow the candles at 12 pm he or she will age normally to a Teen.
    But at 6 pm of the same day, the game will age this Sim 1 day filling the counter. It means that the first day of teenager will last only 6 hours. That's why Sims should blow the candles some minutes before 6 pm if we want age consistency.
    What "age min" and "age max" means, like "baby min" and "baby max"?
    The game attributes a age for the Sim. Suppose the baby will live for 3 days before aging.
    Let's use Brandi's third child as an example. He is called Bob.
    Bob was just born and the game gives him "age 0".
    Suppose that he was born in Monday at 3 pm.
    In the same Monday, at 6 pm, the game will age Bob and will give him "age 1".
    Tuesday at 6 pm, the game will age Bob and will give him "age 2"
    Wednesday at 6 pm, the game will age Bob and give him "age 3".
    The game will understand that Bob lived for 3 days and will age him to a toddler.
    Notice that Bob's first day of life was only 3 hours!
    In SimPe you should place the number 2 at "baby max" to get these 3 days. Why?
    Notice the game attributes a number for the Sim age at each stage. The "baby max" means that the maximum age a baby could have is 2. There must be no babies with "age 3" or "age 4" etc.
    When the game realizes the baby will have "age 3", the game will age the baby to a toddler.
    And it starts again! The toddler will now have a "age 0" mark. If "toddler max" is 5 , the toddler will live for 6 days before aging.
    Notice the first day starts counting just after the aging. No matter if the Sim ages at 5 pm, the first day will be counted at 6 pm, no exception.
    If you place a 0 in SimPe you are telling the game that little Bob should age to a toddler in the same day he was born. Bob will have a "age 0" mark and no "age 1" baby is allowed.
    Hence, if Bob was born at 3 pm, at 6 pm the game will give him a "age 1" mark which is not allowed, he must age to a toddler.
    I don't see why inserting 0 is a problem, but the game doesn't allow it.
    Normally we tend to make our Sims to try for a baby at night, and babies normally born before the morning.
    If the birth happens at 6 pm, the baby will live at least 12 hours before getting a "age 1" mark.
    For us, it feels like a whole day.
    I guess that "age min" means the minimum age a Sim must have before aging. Sims can only blow the candles in the day before they will eventually age.
    Suppose "child max" is 9 and "child min" is 6.
    When Bob becomes a child he will receive the "age 0" mark again. When Bob receive the "age 6" mark he will be allowed to age to a teenager using the birthday cake. When he receive the "age 9" mark he will age to a teenager in the next day no matter what.
    I really don't know if my hypothesis is correct. I must make some tests on it.
    You like to make Adults that do go to college to have 4 days less than adults that doesn't go to college.
    I think that, instead of messing with SimPe every time to change a Sim age, you could simply set "adult min" 4 days less than "adult max".
    So, an adult that went to college will be able to age 4 days before an adult that didn't went to college.
    It would make life a lot easier.
    And again, thank you for the tutorial!

    Hi Cindy! Super usefull video as always, thank you! I have one question,I hope somebody can help me: I've aged up Daniel, my first sim to become an elder and the game says he's 55... I thought he was supposed to be 60, is there a reason why this happened?

    • @eliasbergmann20
      @eliasbergmann20 4 года назад +1

      You can change that in SimPE too. According to your aging system, he should have lived 60 days, by now, but because you implemented that while he was already alive, he went through life before the game with the Maxis age groups. If it bothers you, you'll have to fix it for every new elder born before you implemented the tweak. Or you fix everyone born prior to the tweak, regardless of age. Then you're done with it.

    Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I was wondering when you change the aging, what happens to the premade sims that have already lived some days? Like for example Johnny Smith, when we start playing it it’s his birthday. Changing the aging will reset their ages or will they have the equivalent of their remaining days? God, I hope I worded that right.

    • @PleasantSims
      @PleasantSims  5 лет назад

      The aging hack only affects newly created/born Sims. Otherwise, the premades will remain the same until their next age transition (age up). Then they will be on your new age system. If you want to change their ages before their next birthday, you can do it in Sim PE. I usually just count how many days they have remaining and subtract it from my age for that lifestage and make that their age. I hope that makes sense, but if you have any questions let me know!

    I have no idea why, but when Mortimer and Dina’s daughter aged from a baby to a toddler (she was a baby when I changed the ages) it says she has 6 days when she should have 2? Because I used the same life span as you? You said that when they age that it would change to the life span I picked but apparently it didn’t? I don’t know what I did wrong, my SimPe is buggy anyway. It won’t show any sim information when I pull up Sim Browser so I might just have to restart my hood if I can’t figure out what happened. I’ve done the age thing twice.

    • @PleasantSims
      @PleasantSims  6 лет назад +1

      I'm sorry it's not working for you! Yes, the lifespan will be changed when the Sim ages up, so I'm not sure what's going on. It should work if you followed all the steps exactly. If it doesn't pull anything up when you open the Sim Browser, make sure you are waiting for the entire neighborhood to load in SimPE first. If you try to open the Sim Browser too soon, it will get stuck. If that doesn't work, you might have corruption somewhere.

      Hi Payton! The age changes will only take effect at the time of transition (aging up). All newly created or born-in-game Sims will use the new age system. Sims that already exist will not change until their next life stage.
