they probably wont believe you if they dont see the nintendo switch or nintendo logo and if ur device has samsung or any other logo it would look fake af
Controllers like these have such a big impact on just what kind of games you can play on a smart device, with a device powerful enough you can basically play any console game and those are so much better than Android games. I don't get why these aren't way more popular. Maybe because nobody makes a good one and games aren't programed for it.
Joe G.P. It's the same reason why Linux is not popular on desktops. Because it does not come with the package. No one wants to take time and research a controller. Most mobile players are casuals who do not care about high quality games are very content with games like candy crush or clash of clans. The market for these kind of peripherals and games is very small. Also, these peripherals are not exactly portable. This is if we not consider that gaming on your mobile sucks. The phone heats up which results in thermal throttling of the SoC which results in lag. Too many hardware variants which makes it difficult to make an optimised game. And the battery life is generally terrible. I would prefer that my phone has battery to last the entire day rather than playing games for a couple of hours on it. The advantages of a dedicated handheld is that the handheld is designed keeping all the above things in mind. You can easily carry your 3DS in your pocket/purse/bag, it does not thermal throttle as cooling is adequate or the SoC is deliberately kept underclocked all the time, and the battery life is decent since it does consume insane power. Not to mention that I can live with my handheld battery dying on my in the middle of the day. Not the case with my phone. Gaming on a phone is very similar to gaming on your work laptop.
there are a lot more reasons why linux isn't more popular, like lack of support from OEM's and software vendors like Adobe. You make some good points there, but the whole point to a smartphone is that it can do a lot, if not everything, for ex. very few people carry a dedicated camera around any more, they also still make small cheap basic phones that last a week on battery if not more, but nobody really wants those. Also i'm not saying you need to play Need for Speed on your phone, (although that would be nice), but playing simple games like Super Mario on a phone would definitely be possible with a controller and it would not overheat or anything, but covering up half the screen with your fingers is just not an option, also there is no tactile feedback. Smartphones could easily be made with a top and bottom USB-C port where you could plug in some Nintendo Switch type gamepads, if the audio jack ever goes away on all phones that might actually happen.
Joe G.P. Actually, Sony tried making a gaming phone with Xperia Play way back in 2012 if I remember correctly. But it was too early. Android was not as developed and games on it ran terribly. And the SoC sucked as well. Ever since then, smartphones are in a race to become more and more thin. So much so that they sacrificing accessible hardware features like expandable memory and replaceable batteries (thanks Apple!). As long as phone makers have this obsession with thinness, serious smartphone gaming will not be a thing. I don't mind the phone being thick if it does not heat up and packs a killer battery plus some physical buttons. A gaming phone has to come with either it's own controller in the package or with physical buttons. If the controller is an accessory, most people will simply ignore it and games will be made primarily with the touchscreen in mind...Like today.
I can't say for sure because I don't have one of these controllers in my hand, but the engineering of this looks identical to the iPega 9023 extending controller, which I do have. Even the sound the slider makes is exactly the same. I almost wonder if it's actually made by the same manufacturers and released under a different brand name with a slightly altered design.
the connectors on the side of the tablet are covered , so , you can't charge your device and play at the same time or plug external speakers into the 3.5 jack if your device hasn't bluetooth
First you must center your tablet or smart phone with the controller then at the right side is ajustable so you can adjust the half of your device or aline it with the center of it the screen, at the left side of the controller has a spring mecanism so the controller will automaticaly grip with your device when you put it on the controller. so that how it works it will be centered :).
Yes, I was aware the other side pulls out farther. I was attempting to minimize stress on the spring side, favoring the locking side. End of the day, a spring is a spring, so the more stress you put on it, the weaker it will get.
If you get that and a 128gb micro sd card and a 2017 nuvision 8" windows 10 tablet you can have a switch for $250 with the entire pc library. Mine (2017 model) runs stuff like castle crashers, brawlhalla, dolphin gamecube emulator, modern warfare 2, postal 2, world at war, and many more flawlessly. So yeah suck on that switch.
Actually the nvidia shield tablet kinda sucks. You need a pretty darn good internet connection at your house and at your current location to stream your computer even then you might run into a glitch like I did were you had to launch the games on the desktop first to be able to stream them. I guess you could do the game service thing but who wants to rent games and not own them (not this guy). At least with the tablet thing I said you can actually play pc games on it maybe not all of them but a ton of them.
I was waiting for this review :D I just got the Ipega 9023 which was the only attached controller which can be used with tablets. This looks very similar to the Ipega 9023, the buttons are just in a different place but the whole stretching mechanism is the same :P My problem with my controller is that I wish it tilted the tablet forwards or something, cuz it's hard keep the screen parallel to your face when playing, not exactly comfortable on the wrists. I also wish the inside was a little wider so I could use a case with it, at least some kind of multi groove area to lock into. Great review Jordan :) I'll post this video on XDA and a few sites to get the word out, we've all been wanting an Ipega 9023 alternative for quite some time now.
I was to see "this week in Linux" in collage ( subscribed with a different youtube account as far I think), now I stumble upon to this channel and thought I know you. You loses quite a lot of weight. I have not checked "this week in Linux" for years and it kind of slipped out of my mind until I find this video and recognised you.
I review just about any gadget that comes to my doorstep. :) I've done some gaming-related videos in the past (Nvidia Shield, OUYA, Madcatz Mojo), and I'd like to do more VR-related gaming videos, just have to find the time. :)
@Jordan Keyes Awesome video👍🙌 I can't wait to get an nvidia shield tablet those tablets are so awesome!! Thanks for this video, I've waited a loong time for this video Thanks Jordan!!🙌👍
I bought this on Amazon UK and came on Saturday 6th Jan 2018 for £26.96. It works on some games like Sonic The Hedgehog but not Dream League Soccer 18, and yeah I had 5 min play and realised that it needed charging for 12 hrs. It is good but came with a really small folded instruction booklet that you need a microscope to read. On Amazon I gave it a 3 out 5 stars, may seem harsh but I found the instruction booklet the key thing that let me down, being very small print.
I don't suppose you still have this (or anyone has one) and can scan the manual as I don't have one? This video has helped me pair, I just wonder what else I might not know. Thanks.
How are the dead zones on the joysticks? I have the ipega 9023 which is very similar but the dead zone on the joy sticks is real bad and makes first person shooters like doom 3 on my k1 shield pretty much unplayable.
id like to know this as well. i see plenty of reviews talking about the deadzones on the ipega 9023. but i couldnt find anything on this controller. im hoping that means its not much of a problem?
+siemenssx1, a deadzone is basically how far you can move the joysticks without it detecting anything. In some cases possibly also describing how much of a jump in sensitivity there is once detection does kick in. if the deadzone is too large, it will be difficult to aim with any precision. however, the deadzone can also be too small, with the bounce from releasing the stick causing the character to turn around or causing your aim to jump back the other direction when you were just trying to stop moving. either way, its an important thing to consider in a joystick.
U can watch videos of people testing the deadzone on ipega controller; they move the stick slowly and a computer picks up when the movement actually registers. I'm not exaggerating that the stick can move half a centremetre in some directions before the computer picks up anything, makes fps games almost unplayable. I'll be buying this controller if it's joysticks don't have deadzone problems
Jordan a bit off topic, Are you experiencing any delay or slow reaction when you tablet wakes (from doze feature)? Also the coupon code is not working on Amazon. Great review keep up the good work.
***** I followed your link and the code worked thanks.... As to the Shield mine, I'm experiencing serious lag when waking from an extended downtime (i.e after charging or a couple of hours of non-use). I have a distinct feeling it has something to do with Marshmallows' doze feature but am not 100% certain. Again thanks for your reviews and keep up the good work.
How does this do with common apps like RUclips, Facebook, etc.? I have a special needs daughter and I'm hoping this could help her use her phone easier.
I see that it can work for iOS devices, but have you tried it at all on one? I'm wanting to get it however I've drank the apple kool aid so.... Thanks!
Hi george aura ,a free companion APP "BEBONCOOL GAMEPAD" brings you about 300 games (including about 145 free games). play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bebooncool.gamepad
does any controller with android have working proportional trigger buttons? these are important for driving games. Also it'll be perfect if I could use the tablet's accelerometers for steering and the controller's proportional triggers for accelerator and brakes, and other buttons for hand brakes and gear changes. anyone knows anything? thanks!
im just wondering. I have the same exact controller. but mine is named PYRUS.. and I cant seem to find any good games .. im using iphone 6plus.. most of the games I download is not working with the controller. any suggestions pls??
i really want something like this, but does anyone know of something similar that would fit smaller phones? i have a 4.5 inch phone and the description on amazon says it fits 5 - 10 inch devices. also i'd like to be able to use it with a phone in portrait mode as well. mainly i want something that puts the controls on the sides of the phone, like this, rather than how most things mount the controller under the phone, which makes things unbalanced and leads to fatigue
Thanks! Unfortunately, lots of things happened, so I ended up moving on to just doing general tech videos, like these. Biggest thing was that I switched day jobs, went from being a Windows server guy to a Linux server guy and software developer, and it burned me out on it.
nice video but have a question I have a Galaxy S7 but I haven't problems with 5 GHz and the SIM card error what phone you recommend that is not Galaxy S7 that is waterproof and have a nice camera I appreciate it your info thank you and keep it up
prank your friends into thinking this is the nintendo switch pro

It won't work

The back isn't centered because you didn't lock the extension at the right length.
Looks and acts like my iPega 9023. Excellent!
So this + NES / SNES / SEGA Emulator = Better than Nintendo Switch I guess...
the connectors on the side of the tablet are covered , so , you can't charge your device and play at the same time or plug external speakers into the 3.5 jack if your device hasn't bluetooth
Just a heads up, it will be very limited on an iOS device as it is not MFI certified.
Yes, we strengthen its function for Android, so now we only recommend it to Android device.
Seriously like duh, how hard is that to comprehend lmao I don't get how that didn't occur to him, he seems intelligent
Yes, I was aware the other side pulls out farther. I was attempting to minimize stress on the spring side, favoring the locking side. End of the day, a spring is a spring, so the more stress you put on it, the weaker it will get.
who needs a switch when u got this
Serj Star ikr, but breath of the wild...

entire pc library, bit of an exaggeration :P

The packaging was so confusing for me that it looked like it could only fit an iPod Nano.
Is it expandable??
You can make that piece on the back central of you lock it out half as wide as the device, then use the spring lock to take up the other half
can you use this while your tablet is charging?
such a bizzare from your channel to review any gaming gadget oriented, but, i like it. please feed us with this more often...

can you make a video showing how the dead zones are?
What is the price of this
super helpful review. Thanks for playing the games with it

I haven't noticed any delays, no.
Are you trying on Amazon.com? amzn.to/29hFDby . I just tested it on that link, and it took $12 off.

It is good for racing games? Are triggers force responsive (like xbox one controller) or just simple buttons?
How does this do with common apps like RUclips, Facebook, etc.? I have a special needs daughter and I'm hoping this could help her use her phone easier.
That's awesome, now how do I find one to buy? Looked in Amazon and no results

Jordan Keyes Man, they were good videos !
