I'm a chess freak -- and was so excited to meet my hero for the first time! I don't think I've ever done so much research as I did for his interview!
Vishy was charming, with a gentle humour that delighted me.
He wasn't world champion then, but that destination was inevitable. And then it was achieved five times!
I could have spent hours listening to Vishy's anecdotes. I think you'll enjoy them too.

A notable quality of Simi Ji as an interviewer is her sheer amount of information about her guest and her reasonable way of questioning her guest (Based on her research) especially during those times when it was really difficult to get information without social media and internet.
A learning for all interviewers. 🙏
Not sure if any body else would have made Mr and Mrs Anand so comfortable and made it a joy for them and for the viewer too...hats off to you madam..

When I was a child, I'd see my father watch Rendezvous with Simi Garewal on TV. I'd never understand what was so special about adults talking one on one. I'm an adult now and realise what a wonderful show this is. Lots of love to you Simiji :)

“Money means security” says Vishwanathan Anand.. that’s such a South Indian mindset! South Indians live with humility & modesty! No matter how big their earnings are, you won’t really get it from their appearances or the house they live in! They believe in saving money & respect it for the power it holds, hence rarely show off! A good Education & financial independence is given a lot of importance down south!

I'm from Boise, Idaho. USCF rated 1614, which means I'm a chess nobody but good enough to appreciate Vishy's work. Although I root for Magnus, I have huge respect and admiration for Vishy. And I like the way Arna looks at him, true love. He's a lucky man. Nice interview.

This is the first time I'm watching Simmi Garewal interview after watching Anand's videos and chess for so many days. I seriously feel that Vikram Sathe's mimicry of Simi Garewal show is so true 😂 ofcourse with due respect she is a brilliant interviewer and definitely better than coffeee with karan

You gave me a scare! I thought 'has the full episode not been uploaded?' This is not short True Indian - but am glad it feels so! In the first season this was the allotted time by the channel. 26 minutes. Now it is even less for a half hour show. This episode is complete - though I could have talked to Vishy for hours.. Thanks so much for writing to me.

It's not one "game". It one "match" with a series of classical games. The challenger gets ample opportunity to prepare and defeat.
