In this episode, we sit down with Trish Corcoran and Kathy Castania of the Indigenous Peoples Day Committee of Rochester and Ansley Jemison, Cultural Liaison at Ganondagan. Our Community Outreach Manager Rashaad Parker and our guests discussed the 5-year process of working with the City Council to get Indigenous Peoples’ Day officially recognized in Rochester, NY. We also spoke about the importance of education and authentic acknowledgment in effecting real societal change.
