This was an excellent short training session (for anyone really that's interested). Thanks! The trainer did a wonderful job and the camera guy was on point.

There’s actually a pretty cool set up where every 50 foot joint there is a y with a counting house lay and reduce the other side with 50 foot 1inchers. We use this set up all the time. Perfect for hot spots.

Hi BFFR, what are these two packs that your crew carries and where can one get them? Thank you!

The man keeps rolling the hose into the fire. The lady did it correct and rolled the hose backwards away from the fire.

Where does one get a hose roller like that?

I wonder how much time can be saved using quick connect couplings like storz
In the netherlands we all have storz on our hoses and we never have to worry about male of female couplings it all fits together when you have the same size storz

Just a question- We mark our pencil line and and wild land hose with an offset centerline mark (that gives us the 1’ offset like you have) and either side of the centerline band is labeled male or female. We can throw it on the hose roller singlehandedly (though its not necessarily faster, you have to feed both side through your glove finger sometimes.). It enables one person to coil the hose , while other member are still retrieving hose or loading other tools- it’s also a job that can be done by a member (its a VFD) who might not should be charging out into the woods in PPE is 95 degree Wx.
Have y’all tried this method and found the one that you use superior?
Being the south, we have a more complicated 4 layer roll for 1” hose when in a pine thicket. It’s a pain to roll (you have to get all the air out of the doubled hose by rolling it, then rolling as a quad roll, but it makes deployment in brushy areas less difficult.

What is the device that blocks the water pipe on the screen?

Bowling the hose is wrong, one-handed is for show, puts back-spin on it which just creates a wear patch and slows it down. You want to impart some forward spin on the rol to keep it moving. Using hose from shoulder while moving is wasteful, you use a lot more energy trying hold it and move with it, shoot from the hip. While at it, make sure the water you are spraying on the ground covers ALL the ground, stream/jets are not suitable. Hose nozel/branch should be closed slowly before clamping, water hammer pushed that line and leads to blow-outs.
