This week, I’ve got three special edits for you - little Christmas presents to wrap up the year. The first one drops today, with two more coming on Wednesday and Friday. Kicking things off is my edit of a true classic: Ultra Naté - Free. I made this back in 2021, right after the lockdowns ended. My first gig back was at Mint Warehouse in Leeds, where I played at one minute past midnight on the 22nd of June as restrictions were lifted. I opened with this track that night - the message couldn’t have been more fitting. This isn’t just a straightforward edit. I treated it more like a remix, replaying all the musical parts with different synths, while keeping the original vocal and a guitar sample. It’s very much my own interpretation, and I’m really proud of how it turned out. Since then, it’s become a closing staple in my sets, and I always love playing it.
