    My friend Vincent is going to take the yellow line from Huntington to Mount Vernon Square 7th St. convention center. I’m gonna take it from Mount Vernon Square seventh Street convention, center to Ellen hier Avenue

    I hate the fact that the yellow line doesn't stop at my 2012-2019 home station anymore. (West Hyattsville)

      hopefully it is just temporary cause it definitely is better when the YL does go to Greenbelt since it is better for equity with all stops on the L'enfant-Greenbelt segment getting the same rather than just certain stations and the others getting half and how it makes service easier to maintain since it requires fewer switches having to not worry ab the mt vernon pocket track and provides more spacing between trains and of course trains not being disruptive since they leave the same direction they arrived in unlike turning at Mt Vernon Sq clogging up trains and cutting in front of them with that pocket track making it difficult to maintain. If I were them I would do 8 mins all day on Green and Yellow so both the full Yellow is operational while also service on the southern Green is increased. I appreciate what metro is trynna do with 6 min headways but I wish they'd stop playing games with the Yellow line. It doesnt have to be 6 mins. 8 mins is just as good if not better

      @@ethanparker7900 True, and the DCA riders that live in Greenbelt and that take the WMATA was probably upset, about 50% of the YL riders we're happy that is came back, and other 50% wasn't, and I was the 50% that wasn't

      yah I mean I can understand if the Silver Spring turn backs came back on the red line since Forest Glen, Wheaton and Glenmont have always had shitty ridership numbers compared to the rest of the red line and the northern Green/Yellow and how Glenmont doesn't really need trains every 5 minutes and ofc renaming White flint to north bethesda was fine cause the white flint mall doesn't exist anymore and that stop technically serves the northern portion of bethesda but renaming PG Plaza to Hyattsville crossing did not make sense at all. PG Plaza was a perfectly logical name cause it technically is a plaza of stores, apartments, restaurants, etc and the county is called Prince Georges County so. But yah back to the turn back, not all them are bad but this one on the YL at Mount Vernon Sq I really dislike and it surely is better when it goes to Greenbelt. I am not even a PGC native although I am close since I am from Alexandria right next door. Even if it does go to Greenbelt it still isn't long of a line and frequencies in most of the core and in VA wouldn't see much of a difference with headways if all 1,300 railcars are running. As an Alexandrian, Ive done end to end from Huntington-Greenbelt multiple times and its like 55 mins long which is nothing compared to some of the others. I get that the ridership and capacity is limited to a certain degree and Greenbelt can only handle like 19 trains per hour at most so that kinda why I said do 8 mins all day so it'd be 15 per hour and the chances of the FBI going there won't be harmed and also would help increase the southern green cause I do agree the southern green needs more. Sorry for long messages lol@@ALopez2578

      @@ethanparker7900 It's okay, just wish the yellow line would head to my old area, I'm kinda wish my current area aka the Orange Maryland branch would take me to DCA an especially IAD since IAD is my main airport.

    Why is the Yellow Line did not go to Greenbelt.

    • @SigmaRho2922
      @SigmaRho2922 Год назад +1

      It's because of operational constraints. The line is expected to return to Greenbelt once all 8000 series cars are delivered.

    • @the_elmeister
      @the_elmeister  Год назад +1

      @@SigmaRho2922honestly, I would be very surprised if it went back to Greenbelt, because when I look at the service patterns in New York, if they had 2 and 5 trains running very frequently along White Plains Rd, that will cause a lot of congestion and that’s exactly the situation you’re going to have if the yellow does go to Greenbelt. I don’t think it’ll ever go back to Greenbelt unless they build a new branch. In my example, that’s the exact reason why the 5 train only runs on the 2 line during rush hours in the peak direction.
