I'm thinking of leaving our worship team because the guitar is ALWAYS turned down and sometimes close to off. Nobody hears me play. Lots of time and money invested for little to no return and don't feel like I'm making an impact. Have had conversations with our worship leader but in my church, keyboard reigns supreme and plays all the parts. It's discouraging. 🥺

9 out of 10, people leave because of toxic environments and not cause they felt God called them to something else.

Been dealing with this sort of situation at my church. And I've felt the exact same way about taking it personal. Really opened my eyes to understand that they chose to leave. Really appreciate the content in this video. Hopefully God has a better plan for for my worship team

I've learned to try to communicate as much as possible and to simply let them leave if their heart is already set on leaving. This just means God is getting someone else ready for that position. Thanks so much for watching.

Thanks so much for the encouragement. It's so hard. We love them so much and it hurts for sure. But I've already seen God restructuring and rebuilding our crew. Thanks again. It felt like I'm getting coached by my big brother.

I get the feeling that a lot of churches will use and abuse you then spit you out. All the worship leaders and church leaders are wanting these cookie-cutter churches where there’s nothing but beautiful shiny faces with amazing smiles. They will do anything to keep it going even if it means pushing somebody out the door.. Another scenario would be being on the worship team or being part of a church and just simply not get paid for everything that you do and you just feel used and want to quit.

1:19 That's not necessarily true and it's not my experience. I attended the church for 2 years. There's a waiting period to get onto the worship team of 6 months, but they put me on in four. That was great I'm a singer professionally trained 2 years of voice followed by countless private lessons. They put me on the worship team to play acoustic guitar and that's where I sat one Sunday maybe two Sundays at every month. In the back playing acoustic guitar. That was fine for a while and then I had asked him for a microphone for backup vocals that can do harmony....no. then 2 months later I wrote an email saying how I felt like not an important part of the team, And just basically expressing my feelings. While the worship leader shot back that my feelings are my own and I'm lying to myself and just went off in this crazy email. And then began this back and forth of really unhealthy contact through email. Until finally I picked up the phone and tried to call him and he didn't answer. Then I waited an hour I called him back and then finally he answered there was silence on the other end of the line and I said we should probably talk about this. He just went off on me saying that I think I'm so good and someone and so on and I was just shocked. I was completely crushed because this is my leader telling me what he sees and I respect his opinions so it really hurt me bad. So I apologize and he said in 2 months no problem will get you up singing. Well to months came and went and no singing and I saw new people pass by me singing so I waited another two months and this time I didn't want to bring it up because the last time I did I saw what happens when we bring things up so I left the church. But it gets worse. So I went looking for a new church and it was actually much worse out there basically most churches even with my demos said no we're not actually taking anyone on to our worship team right now we're happy with the team. So I ended up actually going back to the original church and now I don't want to play on worship teams anymore I gone back to my rock and roll bar scene / festivals. The moral of the story for me is Jesus doesn't want me for a sunbeam lol. No really the moral is what may seem obvious to me is not always obvious to God. And I think honestly God just doesn't want me to serve on the worship team. So I'm happy serving as a greeter and a parking lot attendant. And just for contacts. I was a professional musician by night in Whistler for 17 years. Playing in various establishments. Professional meaning getting paid. Just to define that I don't mean professional as in capital records recording artists lol 1:19 1:19

I’ve been on the giving side of this situation. I resigned from a church I designed lights at and the technical director took it personally. The reason I left was because I was a volunteer there and I was offered a paid position at another church. I had to constantly remind him that it was not personal.

We had gone through pastor auditions (using that term loosely) due to our senior pastor dying from cancer. Our Senior Pastor was a musical Pastor. We were real close to him.
We found another Pastor who didn’t have that background so we tried to connect with him. It was really difficult. There was something that happened that caused our long time worship leader and his wife to walk away. When they walked, half of our band and most of our singers went too. Our worship leader took me aside before everyone got there and told me they were leaving. I had known him and his wife for so many years so yeah it hurt. I told him to let me know where he lands (next church he leads at) and I would follow. WL asked me to stay and help the new team get settled in. We got a new Band Director (he is a wonderful old friend). He came in and we both worked together to get the new team and WL (this was her first time being a WL). It was really difficult.

***Never an easy subject to discuss but certainly something we all (Leaders) go through sooner or later.
-when possible always important to maintain the relationship cordial and friendly.
Way to be real n genuine in the ups and downz of ministry #happenstousall

It's your decision that must count, and not what the pastor demands you.
