Mozilla should actually solve this problem, not the user. Firefox used to be a slick browser. Now it is using memory just like high end graphic and 3D software.

what does the last config feature does?

I researched it 'browser.tabs.remote.autostart' and found that this stops firefox from opening the multi-tab feature. You can open Task Manager in your Pc and look up Firefox while it is running and you should see a subfolder that shows multiple windows opened at the same time. This feature turns this off and allows for faster opening and browsing. that's what I learnt.

Hi there! If you can't find "browser.tabs.remote.autostart," you can try the following:
      1. Type "about:config" in your Firefox address bar
      2. Search for "browser.tabs.remote.autostart"
      3. Double-click on it to toggle the value to either true or false as needed.
Hope this helps with your Firefox memory usage! Let me know if you have any more questions.

@@omegamac10just create a bootlean. Set it to false.
But if you had only 4GB of RAM. You better should plan an upgrade to 8GB, 16GB or Higher.
Even you follow this tutorial won't help you .
Despite you don't have any added extensions/add-ons, open 1 tab only for social media like Facebook only.
You'll end up 95 to 100% RAM total usage
Firefox really needed to have better memory management just like Google Chrome browser
