  • Woodchips are one of the best options for pig bedding to create deep bedding and compost action. They serve as a source of dry ground in wet conditions, and help capture vital nutrients that would otherwise be lost. One of the goals of being self sufficient and prepared is keeping as many sources of energy on the farm as possible and not allowing for things like runoff. Woodchips are a farmers best friend.

Do you prefer a particular species for the word chips? Also, do you recycle the chips after a certain period of time or does it break down enough over time so there is nothing to move or recycle?

No preferred species! Whatevers available! The chips all break down into compost/soil. We clean our bedding areas and stack in piles for further composting and then spread on the land around fruit trees and less fertile areas.
