    I started my journey in making jewelry with a Wig Jig! I still use it when I need to make identical pieces. They are really fun to learn to use! Really useful in making your own design for a special chain too.

    WOW! The last time I did wire wrapping was in the 1980's & I was using screws on a piece of wood. It was very much a pain to get 2 that were somewhat alike. I love the ease of the metal jig with the moveable pins. I think I know what gift I will be getting myself for my upcoming birthday! Thanks Yvonne! :-)

    Back to earth creations.. I love it. You're such an inspiration, I find a lot of myself in you, so much of the creativity I lost, along the way of single motherhood.. I'm trying to find it all back... Now I still eed a few tools that I don't know where to find, in my country like this wigjig...
    Anyway.. I love what you do!

    I don't like to make jewelry, but I do like to make multi-media designs on canvas. I like to include metalwork, so this wig thing-a-ma-jig will allow me to make my own instead of cobbling stuff from the thrift store. I just stumbled upon your site, but am putting a thumbs up on my facebook page for you. Good luck in your business!

    Lovely work, perfectly instructed video, and a great demo of the wig jig (been struggling with those loose pegs, but you gave me confidence to give it another try). And on top of it all a beautiful piece of jewelry work ... reminds me of some of the Lord of the Rings jewelry! Thanks for taking the time to do this.

    Hi Yvonne, have done many of your projects.Thankyou. Great videos! If you know someone on oxigen---the hose for the canula is the perfect size to make extra rubber thingies to hold your pegs on the wig jig!!! Please pass this on if you are allowed! Thanks---Jean

    I have that jig, and use superglue to hold the rubber tubing flush against the back of the jig, preventing any spacing or wobbling. You can remove the glued pegs, with effort, but it does inevitably destroys the tubing. I've written to the company & they sent me extras.

    How difficult would it be to add beads to that before you close the loops? Btw, they look like a reindeer head. You should make some for Christmas and put a red bead on the middle of the piece.

    Important to note, that if you try this with coated wires, I've found that the coating comes off when hammering.

    With small components, in order to work-harden them quickly, I press them in a small vise that has pieces of thick leather inside the jaws to prevent marring the piece.

    Hi Yvonne. Love your work. The Jig Kit that you sponsor on Amazon, does that come with the bigger pegs? I am just starting out with wire wrapping and am having such a difficult time with control over my wires. I imagine this takes practice and patience, right? You are a wonderful designer and I look forward to all your videos. Thank you.

    Hey Yvonne, I love this design and how you present it. I use a wig jig too, just the plastic ones. I was wondering what the brass head on the hammer does as opposed to a steel one. I have a steel chasing hammer, a rubber mallet and a rawhide hammer. Is there a great benefit to using a brass headed and nylon hammer?

    • @backtoearthcreations
      @backtoearthcreations  6 лет назад +2

      Hey, Xynarah! The steel hammer will leave deeper and harder imprints in your metal than the softer brass head; I use the brass because it is what I have and am used to. Nylon heads are in between the effects you can get with rubber and rawhide. I will do a comparison video on this subject!

      @doomsdayzalinsky7910 2 года назад

      @@backtoearthcreations I'll look for that follow up video. :) But if you happen 2see this after all this time, would you mind sharing the approx weight of the hammer that works well for you? Tyvm.

    How do you make your pegs so snug? There is no way I could flip mine over to see the placement on the other side. I have never seen anyone teach what to do after using the thing-a-ma-jig (thats what mine is called) so I want to thank-you for this and would like to encourage you to do maybe a few more like this so I can learn more. Have a wonderful day!!

    Hey von! What’s the best metal type to start wire working with? I have a little plastic wig jig, plenty of plier types, a wooden mallet, a metal bar(instead of an anvil). I have 18 gauge... copper(4 I think) wire, but to practice I don’t want to burn up good wire. Any suggestions?

    I started making wire jewelry a little while ago, but I’ve been buying my wire at Joann Fabrics and Michaels. They’re somewhat limited on their selections. So I wanted to know if you buy all your wire on Amazon? If so, do you buy from the same dealer or do you shop around?
