I started laughing so hard when they said not to run so people wouldn't think there was an attack, but as someone who would ride the Deutsch Bahn (german train) all the time, trust me people are SPRINTING through the station at times because of all the delays that happen lolll. Also I'm team ben and/or adam so when sam was upset that his starin was cancelled I laughed a little because fun fact, if the Deutsch Bahn canceled your train literally all you have to do is wait for the next one or go on an alternative and they'll let you on because in their program that they use to scan tickets they can see if a train was cancelled and thus you don't have to buy a new ticket.

@@Tehnameless1 My guess is it would be fine since the coins are used to buy the ticket not ride the train. Some train tickets in Europe are anytime tickets which can be used on any train for the journey you purchased it for that day, so in this case the ticket would be acting sort of like one of those

Sam’s ability to predict chaser moves is stunning to me. He’s talking about where they are as if HE’S tracking THEM
I love that Sam is so focused on the game he just casually has a shot of Cologne Cathedral in the background not once, not twice, but multiple times!. One of the most famous and most impressive churches in the world within a few hundred yards, doesn't have time to take in the view haha.
That said, very cool series. Love the creativity. Keep up the great work.

croatia is the same with nationalized rail as it was in ww2, outdoing the germans in how bad they are. If a train arrives within an hour of its scheduled time, it is considered on time. Also the average speed of passenger trains is like 50 km/h.

I think its hilarious that Sam's brain is like "well humans are animals so i can touch one of them" in an insane rule bend, but not "Well a berliner is just a jelly filled doughnut right?" so he goes out of his way (albeit not that much) to find a place that specifically calls it a berliner.

@@hucklebucklin if with "second Baden" you mean the sign they showed in the clip: Baden is a Region in Germany. So if if you have the same City Name as somewhereelse you often put the Region aswell. And in Baden there is also a City called Baden-Baden.

Sam, you can get a Berliner at literally any bakery in Germany. Bakeries are everywhere. Although Berliners also go by "Pfannkuchen" or "Krapfen" depending on where in Germany you are.

The whole region between Mannheim and Basel is called Baden. Then, there's the town called Baden-Baden which is in the region of Baden. The town where Ben and Adam are at 19:50 is called Bühl. The Baden in brackets means that it's the one Bühl in Baden because there are other towns or parts of towns called Bühl. That's why they added the region to the station sign.
So would the sign for Baden-Baden read "Baden-Baden (Baden)"?

10:50 policy of the german railway srvice is that you can use your ticket to take any alternative connection. You wont have a reserved seat, but you could just take the next train after.

But they're using their coins as stand in currency. So while he might only have to pay the Flexpreis ticket with actual money once, he still has to pay the trip with their coins, cause that's the rule, if you can take the trip or not.

that's what i was thinking too. there were so many posibilities with the amount of coins he already had + whatever he could have farmed and virtualy no chance of getting caught.

He’d have needed lots of coins for that though, and a good connection.
@@xfel5913 an available plane harder than the coins I think. Munich was about 6500 coins from Cologne. I imagine it would have only taken a few more hours at most over his peak coins not counting any attempts to leave Cologne.
It’s also about timing, flights don’t always leave a good times for their particular route.
It's absolutely mental to watch the past episodes of this series seeing you guys go through France and Belgium... and now you've not only ended up in Germany, but even went to the region and the cities I live and used to live in. Really cool to see my home region in this challenge

one tip for Sam: if an ICE train is cancelled in Germany, he can use the same ticket he bought to get on any trains as long as he is going to the direction of the destination.
He can’t. The trains are payed for with coins, not actual tickets in the game.
Just a tip for the future: Unlike in other countries, in Germany, when you buy a train ticket, you buy one trip from the starting point to the finish point, NOT the trip in a specific train. In other words, if the train you were supposed to take is ever cancelled, you do not need to buy a new ticket to take another train, including slower ones (faster ones can only be taken under the circumstance that a long enough delay occurs)
I’m a nebula subscriber and got the opportunity to watch the next episode early. Big surprises ahead. Unfortunately Ben ends up in a French hospital for 8 months having sustained a long term trauma injury. Adam is arrested by Swiss police upon entry into the country. Sam elopes with the former 2005 Miss Arkansas and they live happily ever after. Really great series- we need more!

as i understood the rules, the shop had to advertise it as a berliner or it wouldn't count. doughnut's probably just what they call it in the us, so that's what sam called it.
Ok, so, Adam failed to get off the train before it left, but if he did manage to get off in time, he still would've needed the challenge cards, which are with Sam. So there was no chance for Adam to get off the train anyway
well i think if the train had left a bit later sam and ben would've been forced to get off the train as well, otherwise they could sabotage adam by staying there which would be unfair
like when adam got caught in paris they all left the train corridor and went out of the station to reset the runner role and items

This series just kinda shows how insanely well Europe Is connected
even some of the more undeveloped countries like Poland are super connected especially with trains. I have family living in small towns with about 1k-4k people and all those towns have train stations connecting to the main hub in Warszawa, Kraków, Łódź and Gdánsk

For the next time if you book a DB train to some destination and it is delayed enough (I think 20 min) or cancelled you can take any other train to this destination.

but they could only book from one station to the next to get on the train (if it comes) and than book the whole trip once they are in the train
@@edenoftheeast1739 Honestly I'd say it's fine to use this rule, as then traveling through Germany is actually possible. The only addition I would make is that you HAVE to get off at the station you bought the ticket for, and not earlier on a different line.
so like, when DB cancels your train do they just tell passengers to go fuck themselves? or are the tickets good for a replacement train as well? if so, could that be a rule that carries over into coins?
@@bobidou23 just checked the ruling: if your train is delayed by 20+ minutes or canceled, you're allowed to take a later train of the same exact line, or to get your money back for tickets you bought for a different line.
That said, because you do actually need to pay for new tickets, I don't think Jet Lag should be allowed to travel without using travel coins, so I retract what I said in a previous reply.

Can't be worse than Cologne. Just this week, I've had delays of up to 2h for 20 minute trips and not a single train of my daily commute has been on time.

Nice video guys, but @Sam: you threw it… there was a route which Adam and Ben never can intercept.
If you got off at Frankfurt Airport and take the Bus down to Darmstadt, a city south of Frankfurt, you could have taken a regional train to Aschaffenburg. At Aschaffenburg, a lot of Trains head to Munich/Vienna, also high speed trains. The only way for Adam and Ben to get to Munich would have been to take the high speed train from Mannheim to Munich via Stuttgart and Ulm, but this route takes them too long. All in all this video was funny and well entertaining. Good job, guys and greetings from Frankfurt, Germany.
Sam would not have enough coins for that route because Cologne-Frankfurt would give him 2535 coins (4085-1550 for a 62 minute high speed train), the bus would be -200 for 2335 coins. Then, the regional train would cost -470 for 1865 coins. Finally, the train to Munich is 3 hr 18 minutes which requires 4950 coins. Bottom line- Sam didn’t throw it.

No-he wouldn’t have the challenge deck which is with Sam, and thus he would need them and he and ben would have to be together at all times under the rules.

The interesting thing is that DB tickets, once your train gets cancelled, become "you can take any train which gets you closer no matter what" tickets so technically the coins aren't gone you could just hop on any train or am I missing something?
Also it could have turned out more interesting because Frankfurt main station and the airport are equally well serviced (like trains which stop at the airport may not stop at the main station and vice versa), some trains avoid Frankfurt all together and some trains avoid Mannheim but I guess that doesn't work well if you need to be fast and are in a hurry.
He didn't get off the train in time, oh that is real suspense, cant wait on EP 7!

Adam is very unlikely to win if Sam doesn't actively sabotage Ben so that Adam can escape.
Sam is very unlikely to win if Ben becomes the runner, because Adam will likely still go through a lot of Sam's territory whereas Ben will immediately move as deep as possible into his territory.
It seems to me that it's in both Sam's and Adam's best interest to make a deal here.
He should have taken a regional train to darmstadt which looks like its barely in his winning zone. Then with more regional trains along the border between the zones further east until he is in the middle of nowhere.

@@wave1090 Yeah and you can just spam challenges until you have enough points to freeze the chasers or find out where they are (which Sam used pretty well at the start of this episode). You can wait until your train's about to leave, or when a train they could feasibly get on to get to your location is about to leave, and then freeze them so they can't get on. Or if you track them, you can find out what train they're on and right as you see them approaching your town you just get on the nearest train that leaves (and if they're still far away then you can chill continuing challenges). It's a shame he didn't have enough points to freeze the chasers right before they got on this train since it was leaving so soon after; it would've been legendary.
On another note Adam's in an interesting spot since it's basically impossible for him to win now, so he's in the driver's seat to decide who he wants to win lol (it's called being a kingmaker in game theory). If they do this more (which I hope they do) they should definitely add a rule that balances it out to give the 3rd player an incentive where they can still win. Or do a 1v1 type mode, or bring on one more person to do teams or something!
