- The Enchanted Highway is a stretch of road in western North Dakota. It's lined with custom scrap metal sculptures made by a local artist, and it leads to The Enchanted Castle hotel in the small town of Regent. I took a little road trip to check it out! Also checked out some personal favorites along the way (shoutout Salem Sue).

As a fellow Midwesterner, it is great to see someone as wholesome like Scott showcase that we are more than just flyover states. I loved his hometown festival video from last year and this one very much gave me the same wonderful sweet vibes.

Man this video made me realize how often I hear people tear down their home. I'm almost used to people going "oh it's horrible here and I hate it" and I know they don't necessarily hate it that much but listening to Scott loving his home and state and focusing on this little piece that gives him joy and letting me - half a world away - enjoy it as well. Damn that is like holding your face up to the sun.

Fellow North Dakotan here! I have lived in North Dakota my whole life, and just last year, I stayed at the Enchanted Castle for the first time. My family and I were the only guests and the owner went home at night so we played hide and seek in the dark throughout the whole building, and it was honestly the most fun I’ve had with them. Great memory. Thank you for sharing!

i've never been to usa, but this video filled me with so much joy. seeing you explore your home country, your home state, with this childlike wonder is just... magical. makes me think about how there's still so much to see and explore in my own country, how you don't have to travel far to make great memories and have wonderful experiences. thank you for this absolutely amazing video!

As an Iowa native that went to college in South Dakota, watching Scott’s videos, especially this one, just gives me such a warm and nostalgic feeling that I can’t get from any other creator. Scott, you are a gem of the Midwest.

The geese and grasshoppers were my favourites, love the lines and patterns as well as them just being beautiful. All of the art shown in this video was amazing, the time and effort this took, not just making the pieces but to transport and ground them at their respective spots...is mind-boggling. Big applause to Gary Greff, the artist and the group of people that must have helped him and, of course, thank you to Scott for showing me art I wouldn't have seen if it wasn't for this video.
This really makes me miss Louisiana, an art museum in Humlebaek, Denmark.
There's a very, very small town (population 20) in Texas called Oatmeal, when my friends came in from NYC we drove out to the giant metal oatmeal can and they loved it 😎
The town down the road, Bertram, has had a metal artist living there for decades. He placed his art all over town since he kept running out of space in his studio. It's even in people's lawns!
It makes me really happy to see outsider art being appreciated - there's something special about art you can only see if you physically go to it.
I hope I can go visit this highway someday.

I’ve been a subscriber and patron of Scott for about 3 years because I love his content, but I got to say that I think this is my favorite video he has made so far. The video just gives off such wholesome energy, and it makes me want to look for the fun and interesting things in my home state.
Went to my local art museum a few days ago with a couple buddies and had a blast, no matter how bad you might think where your living is, I promise there is beauty there somewhere and Scott does a great job demonstrating that in his videos.
The State of North Dakota should just put Scott in charge of tourism marketing.

As a child I lived in a very small city and there were so many interesting things in small cities.
Now that I live in a big city, and one that’s a tourist destination, it feels empty, especially since anytime anyone tries to make something neat it gets vandalized or removed.
Scott’s positivity and just wholesomeness is why I subbed. Dude is just a pleasant watch.
The "Maze of Enchantment" is made out of sheet steel "skeletons", a laser cutter at some metal fabrication shop has cut out parts from a solid sheet, and what is left of the sheet is the "skeleton" which is scrap. Pretty neat and confirms a lot of it is made out of recycled junk, which makes it even cooler.
I collected stamps in a "passport" along The Loneliest Highway (hwy 50) and the Nevada Transportation department sent me a certificate with my name on it! It really made a kinda boring roadtrip into something fun! Traveling is great and Scott has a wonderful attitude

I'm from Minneapolis and my grandma lives in Dickinson so i made many trips past the enchanted high way (with a lunch stop in Fargo at space aliens and always getting gas at Salem sue). This video is such a brain blast back to those childhood road trips, so glad you gave it the attention and love it deserves!
I also live in North Dakota and I love this video! There’s something to be said about appreciating where you are, and what you have.

This reminds me of a small town in Illinois called Casey
Similar backstory, it's a town in the middle of nowhere that was dying, so some guy decided to build a bunch of massive stuff in the town.
I've been there twice, and the scale of some of these things is insane.
Anyways, I haven't heard of this place before, but if I'm ever in the area, I'll be sure to check it out. Great video!
I love Casey! Not only is it an incredibly unique town, but it's also very beautiful in its own right! The landscaping is lovely, a lot of the houses have such charming architecture, there are adorable little shops, boutiques, and cafes!
Plus Richard's Farm is such a good restaurant! The whole ambiance speaks to my soul
As a North Dakotan, who has visited these monuments many times, that has since moved to the east coast, thanks so much for this video! This has brought back so many wonderful memories of road trips I had with my parents with a kid. For some really weird reason our track has a tradition when driving to Bismarck for the state track meet we stop at the Bison in Jamestown and take a team photo, then for good luck everyone on the team has to touch the testicles while the whole teams chants “touch the nut!” And think you for reminding me of that!😂 Also the artist Mr. Greff was a 5th and 6th grade teacher in my hometown. Last time I drove the enchanted highway with my family Fisherman’s dream was still under construction, gonna have to make a road trip next time I visit NoDak.
As a Nebraskan with nerd parents the major roadside attractions my family always went to were historic homesteads. I’ve stopped at so many homesteads, and they never get old

The ND content makes me so happy!! I grew up in western ND and we all know this place can be a little hellhole sometimes, but our array of giant statues never fails to make me laugh and warm my heart. Geese in flight is always how I know I’m almost home
like a relaxing PBS program but with incredible cinematography,, the ND videos are a gem!
I never thought I would feel so much joy and emotion from watching a stranger explore a state I have no connection to and yet, these North Dakota related videos by Scott have become some of my favorite videos to watch. They just make me so calm and happy and makes me want to explore my own home state just like him 🥹

This is so touching :) As a southwesterner you've sold me on the enchanted highway. I have so many fond memories of taking road trips with my dad. I'm currently pregnant with my first child and I would love to take them here once they're old enough to enjoy it and make their own memories!

aaaah im from saskatchewan canada, about 500 km north of the nd border, and i moved away from home for the first time this year. this made me so homesick, especially the sunset footage, but in the best way. prairie sunsets truly are their own beast, you can't find them like that anywhere else. i love that you're showcasing this part of the world, it deserves some appreciation bc it really is beautiful.

As a Jersey boy, you've actually given me an appreciation for North Dakota. I've visited there twice over the past two years (each time always making sure to wear my Strugglr t-shirt for airport travel 😜), and I've fallen in love with the state and its people. I've only seen the western/central/northern areas of ND, but it's certainly beautiful.

I’m originally from Southwestern North Dakota. Moved recently. This video brought tears of joy and sweet, sweet nostagia.
There’s a lot of hate for the Midwest. "It's just cold, barren wastelands. Get out as fast as you can." Certainly it's not for everyone, but to think that moving to a different place can fix unhappiness and/or provide additional meaning is-in my opinion-not entirely true. Yes, other areas of the world may provide more happiness and/or fulfillment depending on your circumstances and goals. Some geographies resonate more with us than others. But the ability to find joy and beauty in the present moment and in the smallest of things is incredibly special. To make an attempt at appreciating what is right in front of us is valuable.
This dissatisfaction and discontent with the places we are from... is this a small town/rural American thing? Are the coasts the only habitable places? Certainly trauma and difficult childhood experiences can cause us to dislike the places we've grown up and lived in. New places can lead to safety and allow us to find ourselves, to build the lives we truly want to live and find the support systems we need and deserve. I just feel that American culture tends to dump on the Midwest. California or New York sometimes feel like the only acceptable promised lands.
Some may say that it’s foolish to build something like the Enchanted Highway in the “middle of nowhere.” But have we ever truly stopped to consider the incredible amount of plant and wildlife there is in the "middle of nowhere." North Dakota has oceans of grass. In the wind the landscape ripples and churns. Golden waves. Many insects and animals are home in these "barren" landscapes. But do we ever stop to really look?
Making art in the "middle of nowhere" is a profound act. To me it says this: "There are few people who care about this place, but I do. I see the beauty in it and I invite others to see it too."
