@FootballGaffesGalore It's to do with the football pools - when a lot of games are called off, a panel of experts sits and decides what the results would have been had they gone ahead.
Exactly 20 years ago! Where does time go? As well as the weather calling off some of these games, it seems a fair number were switched to the Friday or Sunday to avoid clashes with Christmas shopping on the Saturday - this was fairly common on the last weekend before Christmas back then (Sunday trading was only just coming in and online shopping was unheard of).
I think that was the Bristol derby where the PA announcer was sacked for making a comment about Junior Bent...Big Devon White smashed up City as usual!

Can't remember many games being called off at old trafford since this!? Possibly cost us the league towards the end that season!

ITV brought it back when they got the Prem highlights package from 2001-04 before they lost them back to the BBC and dropped the service
