Very nice performance. I did winter training there in early 2000. I jumped a 220 Sqft canopy for the team but had a Jedi 136 in my personal rig. Which was a bit under 1:1 load ratio but not what you see today in high wing loading & pilots. I have been flying a PPC the last 20 yrs since( two seat w/apco 500 dovetail) My question is, what is the difference in the 16M vs 14M in wing loading and/or max recommended weight for each an where do you weigh in th harness and motor? Can you start adding manufacturer wing load info to you narrative so people understand the wing load to maintain a safe flying margin (comparing that to experience)? Blue skies & fly safe
Hi tucker, on future first impressions/review videos could you do it with a unmodified wing please. The brake change you made wasn’t correct for you as you say anyway and i think its important to talk about the way the wing flies in certification (if it is) and as designed/produced. By all means talk about changes you would make but dont make them until you’ve reviewed a product.
A Test Pilot trains the self to talk constantly, detailing everything they do, see, perceive and feel. Can you detail what you’re doing by way of brakes and trim as you do it?
Hey Tucker :) Can you recommend a wing with which you can do both paragliding and paramotor? Thanks in advance and best regards from Germany. P.S. Your videos are awesome and have encouraged me to start flying.
I fly the sirocco 2 22m and I’ve been thinking about upgrading to the freeride but not sure the size yet. I live in colorado at a high elevation so I didn’t want to go to small. Anyone have any experiences with flying a wing too small at high elevation or does it even make that big a difference?
Hy Tucker, i noticed (from sound) that the engine rpm is greater (was screaming harder) when flying this smaller wing (faster airspeed), how does it seem to you, it seems that your engine does spool up faster since you fly faster so the prop is less loaded at higher airspeeds. What is your prop setup (pitch) when you fly faster wing and slower wing? I do not fly paramotors, i'm a fixed wing pilot (i fly an electric ultralight plane, Synchronus Goat). Great content as always, i respect your attitude with regards to safe flying.
Hey Tucker. Looks a nice wing. So how come the 14m over your usual 16? Would be interesting to a side by side with a 16 against your regular freeride. Great video 👍
So sick!! But all I can think is nil wind landings are gonna suck.. I'm too heavy for something that small, 20m is my jam at present. Hope you're feeling better, this year has been rough on me as well.
No wind and downwind landings suck while you're still learning to do energy management, but they become quite fun and controllable once you've built up the skill. You'll get there!
@@error.418 I have zero issues with energy management or swoop landings, but at 200lbs vs 145lbs I would carry a ton more speed. Having the wind to help slow things down makes it easy but in nil wind it becomes spicy. For me it's preference not lack of skill.

To gain speed in a wing, you'll sacrifice some lift, correct ?
It's all energy management, so instead of putting energy into lift, you'll put energy into speed, so in a sense yes.
At the same speed, yes the smaller wing makes less lift. That’s why smaller wings are faster. You still need to make the same amount of lift, cuz you don’t weigh less just cuz you’re on a smaller wing. How do you make more lift? Go faster or have more angle of attack or incidence. So for straight and level flight, a smaller wing needs to go faster to actually fly.
