@Sherry McMillian very well said! Unfortunately my marriage of 29 years failed when my husband couldn't handle my 5 years of cancer treatments and 8 surgeries. Every time I didn't get a "clean" scan, he became more and more remote. Now that I am healthy again, he said he regrets his decision. While I will always love him, I could never trust him again.
I know firsthand the stresses illness can strain a marriage, you stay and work through your problems. Too many people use divorce as an option rather than doing the hard work needed to stay together. Like many on here I was really hoping Tarik and Christina wold work on their issues and stay together. I think they are great together on the show. I wish both of them the best.
I was really rooting for these two. That’s why it’s so important to never get so busy that you lose focus on each other
I don't know them personally, but ever since I saw the first season of the show I was constantly questioning why they were together. They never seemed compatible or very happy with one another. The divorce came as no surprise to me. I hope they're both happy now.

As someone who had single-handedly renovated nine homes without any help from my ex I loved the way Tarek and Christina worked together. It didn't hurt that I was in love with Christina from the first moment I saw her. She's got it all. I felt sorry for Tarek with the divorce and was then shocked to learn about his health issues. How they both kept going with the show through all that is truly amazing. I wish them both well.
He's happy now that he found a younger woman who looks like Christina. And who hangs on his every word.
Christina is a high maintenance person, and Tarek isn't so much. I don't blame him for divorcing her. Notice how she is on her 3rd marriage, and Tarek is only on his 2nd. She got engaged and married

What do you mean? They said she was with him thru the thyroid and testicular cancer. Plus his back problem and surgery. He said himself that the testosterone he was taking didn't help. If you've dealt with anybody going thru hormonal changes, it is extremely difficult. It's almost like dealing with roid rage.
I just it explains why he was some times just plain nasty to her on camera. Initially, I thought it was just for t.v. but it seems that seasons 6 & 7 he was outright hateful towards her most of the time. Now hearing he was taking testosterone, it makes sense. It also makes sense that she seemed to always be tiptoeing around trying to be mindful of his feelings. I can't imagine having to put up with that 24/7. ☠️
@@mariahardy1201 Fair ! Maybe we can’t shift all blame on Christina but the way she moved on so fast and broke his heart was painful to watch . Also her second marriage is over in less than two years so she doesn’t have the best track record either
He had a really bad temper because of his hormones. It actually showed in some episodes and Christina really looked like she was walking on egg shells. Why do you think the in laws still love Christina and wanted them to work things out?

@@Gheuns3251 I see Christina as non-confrontational. She’d rather walk away when problems start. She was post partum for Ant’s baby when Covid and quarantine hit. She had a fussy baby (per all her Instagram posts during those times) and it didn’t seem like Ant was helpful, and Ant left for London. Remember Ant is a divorcee too ( I’m sure he’s got issues too). She also has an auto immune disease and deadlines to fulfill. I’m sure she realized that she jumped into that relationship too quick.
This was the same way I found out about the thyroid cancer I was diagnosed in 2013, it's hard but God healed me!!!

Sickening when people believe god heals them. Why would he pick you? And not alittle child, or my son that battled 2 bone marrow transplants and 4 cancers, he suffered and god did nothing.

The reason why he filed first is because she cheated on him. This video made it seem like it was all his fault but it really wasn’t. Christina isn’t even happy in her new current marriage or…aren’t they now divorced? That should tell you who the problem was. The grass wasn’t greener on the other side.💯😏

I don’t think he shows any interest in Christina at all.He used to let her walk all over him and now stands up to her. Most people have a look type they are attracted to and I think that’s all it is. He actually seems happy,content and seems much more confident.

Agree. Ant said he was thrown for a loop, couldn't eat, sleep. He had no clue there was a problem w/the marriage. Now she has a new boyfriend. Tarek has a fiance right? His fiance has a best friend. Christina is now head over heels in love with the brother of that friend. This sounds like she is just trying to push his buttons. She seems emotionally unhealthy.

The family were very friendly with Tarek, and he would tell them personal things, whereas she was trying to keep it private and prevent family gossip. So they only ever heard one side of the story and made their judgement. Does not make 'this' correct as FACT.! As for stories spread all over the papers and media...well no surprises here that they are notorious for spreading 'rumours'. I prefer the FACTS, not RUMOURS.

I Totally agree....their show is still my favorite....I love the format and I love their decorating together...
It sounds to me that both of them had hormone ups and downs and all around. Everybody knows that definitely spells trouble. I do think that Christina wanted to spend more money than Tarek was comfortable spending. I do think that they still have feelings for each other. Now that tempers and hormones have settled I wish they would try to get back together.

Just pray. take time with each other. Go out on date, take a day somewhere. I took care of my boyfriend when he had gout. Found out a year later what was giving him the gout. Now 3 years later still doing good. I wasn't giving up on him. We do have problems but we love each other.
Maybe it was just for "tv drama" but I never did like her personality , never liked her new show either. Prima Donna or bridezilla are terms that come to mind.

She also went thru marriage counseling with him. At what point did she throw him under the bus? HE FILED FOR DIVORCE.
Additionally, by his own admission, he was on hormone therapy that didn't go well. Additional influx of testertone/estrogen can drastically change your personality (speaking from experience) almost like using anabolic steroids, it usually ends up making an individual very, very hard to deal with, almost like they become someone else.

@@rosannecole4992 She owns half the business. It's not HIS show. Its THEIR show. He would have to buy her out of the business and that would probably cost a fortune, and there is certainly no guarantee the business would succeed without her. Together they made their business successful.

This angers me so much. I nursed my husband for years while he died of cancer and it wasn't easy, lifting him has caused me to have to have spinal surgery in later years. Only cowards run from their vows.

I took care of my husband who suffered from CHF and COPD and my husband was not a smoker. We had been married 39 years when he passed we were High School sweethearts. It been gone 6 years and I still miss him so much.

Tina Layton I love reading and I've read thousands of comments on RUclips videos and Facebook etc, so want to let you know that it seems like most people are judgemental about anyone and anything, which is extremely sad. Unfortunately, it's like that with with most fellow humans real life too. I can't believe some of the things people say to me, including criticising me for going to a coffee shop regularly. 🙁

From the start, I noticed something was wrong and I could feel something was wrong. I saw it in her. I even commented this on RUclips while Tarek was informed about his thyroid cancer years back.
I saw same look on my husband and immediately knew he was cheating. He tried lying to me but failed miserably. I decided to divorce him and 8 months later he took is own life.
He hated that I could see through his deception. What I never told him was that I have always been able to tell when someone is lying. My family knew I could do this. After Christina married Anstead I said they wouldn't last. There is something about her that I can't say without hurting someone's feelings. Hope Tarek will fair better with his new girlfriend.

A woman with hormonal issues is in a bad place. A man who has hormonal issues can become uncontrollable. The testosterone issues can create uncontrollable violence, just as steroids can. If he was constantly angry, that's a hard thing for other people to take. You are talking about 2 Type A people, with one horribly ill.
Honestly even though I used to watch the show it was clear that his wife was rather domineering. Judging from her last name change she's gone on and remarried. But I don't like her. I think she's a gold digger. Having an affair with a contractor from the show. So not interested in viewing or knowing anything else about them. It seems like she changes husbands as easily as replacing the backslash over the kitchen stove. That's the impression she gives.I don't like watching her shows anymore. I'm sorry to sound so judgmental, but that's how I feel.
They are awesome at coparenting their kids and keeping their friendship respectful. I do miss watching them work together, those houses turned out beautiful. They’ve put their hearts in building so many peoples comfort dream homes. I never knew why they split, so sad that hardships have to test every ounce of what we have sometimes killing the visions we intend but, Tarek and Christina you did it with some grace.
If they weren't in good terms, health wise or otherwise, why did they plan another baby? It's so so strange!!

Babies can bringing them closer giving couples a stronger bond and appreciation for each other etc. Babies also can drive couple's far part. I don’t find it strange, as Christina seemed to be the reason for any baby plans to come about AT ALL!!! Timing, yes odd, being their marriage had already been strained & Tarek still battling very serious health concerns (she never seemed to take note of the gravity of just how serious his health troubles were, especially with testicular cancer!) but she was selfish as hell & she always got her way....
@@hollymiranda0826 Yum, that's the whole reason they had a second child was because of his health issues. The doctors told him he might not be able to have more children in the future. That's why they planned for another child because he wanted more children. In which if a doctor told you, you can't have children that you'd have to have them now. Of course you're going to try to have more children even if your marriage is strained. I don't understand how she's selfish if she went under treatment to give him this child that he wanted. Even now that they're not together she still gave him another child that he couldn't have in the future and that is a blessing for him.There marriage didn't last not because she is selfish its because as time went by the treatments we're changing his hormones and personality. Making I'm hard to be around. Their family is good they may not to be together but they seem to co-parent well and their children are good and the second child is a blessing to them so what's the problem.

I used to enjoy watching Tarek and Christina's show when my TV was working and thought that they were an incredibly talented couple! They sure went through a lot together though. It's extremely sad that they decided to split up, yet it seems like it was the right thing to do and I wish them both, along with their children, all the very best for the future. ❤

I know that this is old - however, I started watching this after many seasons had been aired (serious health issues caused me to be stuck in bed for quite awhile - and bored). From the very beginning, I saw things in him re: his personality (based upon how he was on the show) that were eerily similar to the personality (character) of my ex brother-in-law.
My ex BIL was very verbally abusive - and began showing some forms of physical abuse. He was extremely controlling - and hated that my sister became the “breadwinner” for the family (damaged his ego). My ex BIL also waived a gun around and threatened suicide (in front of my sister and one of my nieces - who was only a freshman in high school at the time). The scary part is that, based upon his narcissistic personality, we (me and my other siblings) always thought it would be more likely that he would use the gun on my sister I stead of himself. The continued suicide threats (again, in front of one of his daughters + my sister) appeared to be a form of manipulation (this was also the opinion of two psychiatrists).
He alleged an event of physical abuse by my sister - in order to have her arrested at 2 a.m. one morning (I received frantic calls from my nieces - as I’m an attorney). The police officer actually spoke with me on the phone and told me that he had to arrest her because of the “zero tolerance” policy, but assured me that his report would accurately reflect what he thought had happened that night (she told him that she was going through with the divorce petition she had filed several months earlier). She was was let out of jail the next morning - before her appearance in front of the judge - because the prosecutor who reviewed the police report determined that his allegations of physical harm were without merit. After she moved out (and bought another house), he continued to try to cause legal issues for her, and even included his daughters. He alleged that the three of them stole items worth over $1,000 = a FELONY. He had sent a text to his youngest daughter telling her, “Good luck getting into an Ivy League school- because they don’t take juvenile delinquents. . . “ - she didn’t understand what that meant until after they learned about the false felony theft allegation (the detective sent to investigate it didn’t even search my sister’s new home when she offered to let her do so without a warrant). He “coincidentally” came by her new house while the detective was at my sister’s house - and the detective felt the need to call for backup due to his behavior.
My ex BIL also appeared to have some type of surveillance device on her car (maybe house since he knew when the detective was there) - because several times he knew when she wasn’t home (and even knew where she had been).
She was told by two police officers that she needed to file for an order of protection for her and her daughters. It was a long couple of years - and has finally settled down (at least for now). One of my daughters told me about all of the alleged abuse allegations against Tarek + his suicide threat (which involved a gun), which caused me to see even more similarities between his personality and my ex BIL’s personality. I’m not saying Christina was perfect - no one knows what goes on inside someone else’s marriage. However, I think that it’s a good thing that they are no longer together.
Last comment - I didn’t watch the whole video, however, I thought it was extremely weird about how many times it was mentioned that Tarek was the one who filed for divorce. Who files for divorce is irrelevant - and does NOT automatically = that person was the one who wanted the divorce. I’ve known a few people who filed for divorce because they wanted to do it before their spouse did - not because they actually wanted to get divorced. It actually would fit for someone with a narcissistic personality = not wanting it to look like someone wanted to leave him/her.

I think he is lucky to discover the true colors of his partner , which many times you cannot see in people unless you need their help or under stress . . and I do not care who gets offended by that .

Tarek has said that he knew that Christina & Ant's Anstead's marriage wouldnt last. Why not? He said cuz she has champagne taste on a beer budget. I feel so bad for Tarek. After going thru all those health issues. Don't any of these younger people believe in "for better or for worse" anymore? I mean, look, she was already dating some other guy before they were even divorced. She did him dirty! Smh. Another example, Meghan Fox dumping her husband & three kids for, of all people, MGK. She will get her karma one day. Back to Tarek, I'm so happy he's found someone else. And he took his time. He didn't just jump right in like his ex did. That was SO cold.

A friend went through very similar things when her husband got cancer. The medications and treatments (and stress etc of course) made him like a different person, very paranoid, nasty and hard to live with, especially when she was doing everything she could to support him in his treatments at the hospital, look after the kids, housework and run the business on her own. Sadly, though he is now in remission, they divorced. My friend was told by their medical team that this is very common, but not talked about much.

Love this show! But it makes no difference to my life wether they are together or not, so no judgement here. Once their kids are happy and having a good example set for them is what’s important, and they both seem to do a great job in that dept. Best of luck to them both.

I can understand l went through the same thing and 25yrs later we are going through our divorce. Because when you are the person who is sick something your partner cannot understand the tears and tes you pray to get better. But you both are keeping the kids together. And hopefully the families we be together not jealous of one another but glad that you both found love again.
Stop making excuses for her heinous behavior. She should have stood by him and supported his recovery. He was deathly ill, not her.
The fact that she already remarried and divorced just says she should have stayed married. Once you have children, their security comes first.
I really think Christina is the problem at this point. And I’m all about girl-power, but she seems problematic in her relationships.

I wish my mom had divorced years ago. You stay for the kids then the kids grown up now what? You try to meet someone in your 60s. I hate to hear people argue or see a fight. I like a quiet home. If it isn’t working divorce.
Naw, Tarek deserves better than her cheating ass. She cheated him with a man they use to work with. While he was fighting cancer. For him to stay with her. I wouldn’t wish that evil on my worse enemy.
Every time I watch the show they wound be fixing up a house he would tell her we have a budget and she would want to put expensive things in the kitchen bathroom bedroom.
Well he did ok things as no one forced him, even way after their divorce. Plus, they seem to sell majority of these flips and for asking price, some even a good deal over so she’s obviously not hindering anything. They’re also in California and a lot of people who live around certain areas do not want builder grade.
When Tareq was going thru all the hormone treatments he was likely horrible to live with. Not to mention the depression and everything else-who knows the kind of things he was saying to her with the drugs he was on. He may have been telling her he hated her for all we know. When one is really sick it's miserable. So don't be so quick to judge her. She had two little kids and was exhausted too. Get over yourselves people.

I didn't see any love between them doing their show. it was more like a business deal between them.
It's so sad 😞. They were actually a good couple and life hurdles got got in their way. I'm so happy they were able to stay friends after all they went through. I had hoped for awhile that they would get back together but life goes on and I'm happy for them.
I loved their show but thought it was crazy that even after the divorce, they still did the show. Marriage is difficult. She didn't want to stick by him.
Yeah the she is so weird now I could barely watch it.
He did NOT sound convincing when the interviewer asked him about being suicidal.
She is despicable..stress happens in all marriages. They had 2 little kids and plenty of $$ and she couldn't deal with the "stress" of his cancer? Please!

THANK YOU!!! Yes he has a type, buuut, the 2 women have very different personalities!!! Heather is much more laidback & carefree than Christina!! Christina is much more serious & uptight... & seemed to be quite selfish! (Although, I realize their situations are different being Christina & Tarek had the business together, & he & Heather don’t have that... just different dynamics.) Still, Heather seems sweeter & more caring, I never got much of a “warm”, loving vibe from Christina... In my opinion, they seem very different.
I also don’t understand people saying how the 2 women look SO alike, not really... someone even said Heather could be Christina’s twin, like whaaaat??!

I was a huge fan of the show and could see the tension between them. It was like he felt his ideas were often not good enough for her and he was seething about it. Working together is tough, and on TV is really difficult. Throw in serious health issues and try to have a baby on top of all of that? It was impossible for them maintain their marriage in all of this. The should have gotten off TV and out of the spotlight to address their issues. Throwing money at doctors does not give the answers you need. Time, communication and understanding what each needs from the other. They couldn't let go of the mirage of a great life, take step back to get real, identify and deal with their problems.
She treated him as though his ideas were stupid by blatantly rolling her eyes and acted like he was beneath her. He would be irritated that she always wanted to over spend. He was hardly seething. He knew his ideas were good but bowed down to her because she was rude and pushy

I think everyone, famous or not, has their challenges. I know they are famous , maybe it’s because I’m older, but none of us will really know, nor is it really anyones business. I wish them both well. I do appreciate that they remain civil , they have kids. Its obvious they really love them!

Never heard that only that Izzy quit after she had an affair with a different contractor and fans thought it was him. He said it was an embarrassment to him

He was gone for several years but since people have realized the affair wasn’t with him he came back as he enjoys working with them . Don’t know if he started working on her show also but at first he turned her down
Considering he needed to get healthy and the hormonal imbalances causing a person to act nuts, it’s believable. He couldn’t help it.
Yeah, I remember stories coming out how the crew would break and Christina would stay in the car to avoid her ex husband's behavior. Everyone saying she abandoned him when he was sick... I've read stories and known people who have dealt with a spouse going through cancer treatment. It's not easy. They can become mean and take out all their frustrations and anger out on those closest to them. That's not easy to live with let alone work with everyday and can see that easily taking a toll on a marriage that was already rocky.

I'm so sorry to hear that they got divorced, it go's to show that know matter what images people are portraying for the public, all isn't what it seem. Being in the public eye, building a family, a business and working together I'm sure had a hand in, there was not time apart, which can be a lot. I still love their show and still believe they worked well together.

i never heard those rumors but i actually agree with them. it seemed like the couple was mismatched based on tarek talking about how he got to where he is. everytime i saw them on their show she seemed like she didnt want to be there and it wasnt until the divorce then i noticed she seems more enthusiastic. whatevwr its over now.

She could have stayed with him regardless, if you truly love a person you will be there for your mate. That is why she is running from husband to husband.
“Strong Communication” or “No Communication”. It’s a pitiful way to live…..you know nothing about what the other person is thinking and it’s very sad! This has been a tough road for both of you, my heart goes out to you both. From what I can see you are both dedicated to your children and that love is vital and a blessing.
They always argued and disagreed with each other on the show!
You can tell Tarek loved Christina more by how he acted but then you can see the tension towards the end of the relationship

I thought they came back on HGTV after her divorce failed and many of us were concerned of Tarik going back to his ex wife.
Now that she's over her rebound, let them work together in peace and hopefully rediscovery themselves back at the beginning.
I thimk they already have, her haters will be so disappointed when they finally get together. They had another baby together, that says it all. Heather is just a rebound. I feel sorry for him, everybody portrays him as a good guy, he is going to be afraid to go back to his wife. Talk about being put on a pedestal. Fans can control your life sometimes.
Her last name isn't Ansted anymore. She was married to Ant Ansted for a year. . Now she took her pre married last name and is now dating someone else she calls the love of her life. And Ant is taking has sweet time with Rene Zellweger. And Tarric has been engaged to his new feice for 2 years. ( yes the lady who got dumped by Justin Heartly via text).
