I love how Darren has that 'busy tone' to everything he does. You can see his internal conflict through the whole video as he's excited to talk and share stories, but he's also impatient that his projects aren't making progress. His comment at the end cemented it. In the end he took the time to share, which means that was most important to him.

Oh wow I remember seeing that Blitz R34 at Brands Hatch this summer at Go Japan!/Tunerfest. Gotta admit I really don't know anything much about D1 or anything as I've only been into cars since 2017, but I remember them saying it was Ken Nomura's so the clips you added here are great to see to "fill in" the blanks around that for me.

Darren was a trail blazer for Drifting in Ireland & without his Toyota AE86 smoking tyres in Mondello & RoseGreen drifting would not be as big a sport as it is in Ireland. I salute & thank you sir. P.s does he still have the Mk1 Fiesta Xr2.

The aul boy is an absolute legend. I love in Ireland that whatever your hobby, if you show a polite interest, people will take the time to show something your interested in.
Fir sure it was an absolute treat to have a chat with him.
Speaking on the politics of D1, it wasn't just D-Mac that got fucked by it. 2 other D1GP legends Naoki Nakamura and Katsuhiro Ueo were also shunned away from D1 for a period of time for a bs reason.

Legendary car, legend driver, great days. I will never forget standing at the tyre wall (god bless media vests lol) at Silverstone watching him vs the D1 guys and doing amazingly.

those rear coilovers look perfect for kp starlet, the techno toy tuning coilovers proide too big of a spring so the spring touches in the wall of the strut tower
they make bespoke kp suspension too, give em a ring

I have the group d rear coilovers cannot wait to use them. Will be using them on my mkii celica supra with s13 rear subframe swap.
Darren's a real swell guy by the looks of it. I wasn't really into drifting back then, so it's amazing to hear these stories right from the horse's mouth!
