@Personal Vendetta I gotta disagree, honestly. It felt really natural for Finn to face more philosophical dilemmas as he matured through the show, at least in my eyes. It wasn't trying too hard to be deep, it was just telling stories with deep messages.

Adventure time was a long running very popular Show and it attracted a lot of fans when it first appeared but one thing that makes it stand out compared to most Kids shows is it matured with its audience. All reals tho,I feel like AT didn't really have a fall,it had it's down around S6,but in no sense had a "fall",I think the only really fall isn't it's own fault but the network's giving it the shaft, big hiatuses with little to no telling of when/if the show is still going on.

It's the exact same thing happening with Steven Universe and that show isn't nearly as old, theres lot's of very long hiatuses, steven bombs and big dumps of episodes became the only release of new episodes, next to no advertising until the actual date of something airing. CN just obviously doesn't wanna promote the shows produced by the Adventure Time "circle" and would rather push braindead shows like Teen Titans GO and that really badly animated Ben 10 because they can sell the merch of those quicker, that's all that matters to them in the end, its not the appeal the show gets, its just the physical product sales it nets them, CN's sad and garbage as fuck.

Even though it did falter a bit season 6, I'd say Seasons 7 and 8 (or 7 through 9 if your using CN's bs ordering) was when the show peaked in quality. They took the more upbeat tone of Seasons 1-4 and mixed it with the more serialized, story-driven plots of Seasons 5 and 6. They easily had some of my favorite episodes.

I prefer the deeper episodes way more over the random ones. This show was so groundbreaking because it presented dark and philosophical topics in such a unique way. The character development and world building that began to become the norm are what makes this show so amazing. The quick humor of the early seasons is still present later on, but just like how Finn ages and matures in the show, humor and subject matter aged and matured as well. I grew up being the same age as Finn throughout the show and it definitely played a part in shaping my mental and emotional development. Season 6 is my fav season and i find myself returning to this season the most out of all of them each times i rewatched it

I agree, this show grows with the audience and that was very intentional. We get a show that's random and fun classic fantasy that fuels the whimsy of Childhood and even the credits reflect the magic of having a childhood that lasts. But then the show matured with the audience, showing us that even in a fantasy world with magic and wonder that our characters are still people and experience mental and physical issues with change, and the final song of the show reflects the idea of moving on but learning from your childhood, it's why the future of Ooo is in ruin because all good things must come to an end.

I’m not usually writing comments like these. But I have to disagree. The first thing I have said about season 6 after watching, is “WTF!? This is the best season ever omigosh!!!”. I like it when the show goes all different characters and expand their world, it’s amazing and beautiful. There are a lot of rushed things in this show, and I hot used to it over time, cuz this is how the show goes, and those who do not understand it, shouldn’t watch it. The ladder half of the series is miles better than the first half, and I don’t understand why people think different. It showed more world, characters, interesting stories, felling, humor and character development. Sure there was not a “huge villain”, but should there be? It’s not like “Avatar” with an absolute villain with an actual character. The lich is nothing more than an obstacle for Finn and Jake, and a lovely lore piece for the more curious watchers between us (me included!!) the future is far more interesting for me than seeing a recurring villain. As for the end, it was obvious that it wouldn’t just be a plain old war,and anyone who didn’t understand it, didn’t understand the show in my opinion. It’s about the characters and the feel of adventure and exploration for me, not story. And I’m a story freak!

I can't really explain it, but I believe its the fact that I was around when the show started. I got the full dvd set, and just binged the whole thing. Maybe if I were watching the season live, I would have different feelings. Although there are a few episodes I really don't want to watch (like "sad face" and "on the lam"), the majority is just fun. Honestly, I didn't like how the Lich was handled. I would have liked to believe he was defeated for good in Season 6, but future episodes implied he was still alive in Sweet P and he going to come back for revenge. So I guess you can understand my disappointment when he was anticlimatically defeated in a random episode and now the main villain is some Bubblegum relative just brought up in the very last season -_-

Yeah totally it's sooo terrible that the show took an absolute evil death machine, and brought it to life, gave it a good loving home, and then it decided that it wants to fight against it's evil inclinations, and 1000 years later is still a hero who looked up to Finn. I cannot think of a worse way to handle the lich. It would have been much better if they punched it till it died and exploded.

I have issues with gumbald, but he wasn't the actual final villain. Golb was, as was expected for a long ass time. I wish that there was another betty episode explaining how she got to Golb, but I can chalk that up to the show being rushed to end.
Gumbald was basically PBs past coming back for revenge, with the rebirth of the world, which is definitely an interesting thing thematically. And gives us lots of insight into PBs relationships with her other candy people. After gumbald she learned to not make them too smart, and to just focus on making them safe and happy, which explains a lot. While i wish we had gumbald as a more fleshed out character, I'd say that the dream sequence in the finale was definitely a satisfying conclusion to PB and Gumbald.

    • @PBDNR
      @PBDNR 6 лет назад +5

@Xae Dota Alright, I know what that feels like to think a scene feels forced.
But I still don't see the problem with Marcy's dialogue. "You're okay, you scared me.. even when we weren't talking I was afraid that something bad would happen to you and I wouldn't be able to protect you. I don't want to lose you again". Marcy just thought PB got splattered, and then she turned I to the vampire essence beast thing. So she like had an adrenaline rush and finally just said how she feels.
If anything I thought the LSP kiss felt more out of place. The PB one seemed natural to me.

    • @PBDNR
      @PBDNR 6 лет назад +3

@Xae Dota I mean the kiss wasn't really trying to be a surprise sure, I don't see the issue with that.

I like Season 6 more than most, but it was a low point at times due to trying a bit too hard to recapture the magic of some of the beloved deep episodes from before. Season 7 really did bring it back, so it';s too bad CN kind of shoved it aside and everyone sort of forgot about it.
thankfully, the finale is bringing everyone back to cry. Regardless of quality, it will really wreck me.

In one breath you're saying that the show lost the quirky randomness that it had during the first seasons, and in the next breath you're complaining that the mytharc-related episodes were too spread out to keep momentum. Make up your mind! Fine if you prefer early Adventure Time to late, but don't just mindlessly criticize plotpoints, contradicting yourself. While I certainly enjoy a critical standpoint more than constant praise, I wish this review were a little more rounded. Either way, I appreciate the effort put into this video. Keep up the good work.

I saw a ton of bits and pieces of random junk here and there and found lore about the mushroom war and a ton of other stuff. I really wanted to pick up the show again but I couldn't find anywhere to watch it considering it's super unlikely to see it air consistently on cartoon network. (plus I was just to lazy to try and pick it up on Netflix) I really would be interested in it if i had the time, it seems to have picked up some interesting lore.

I wanted more clear answers as the show progressed and often times I always felt the writers betrayed the fans of the show with overly complex to cryptically vague resolutions. As the seasons rolled on I found myself just accepting the fragmented story telling which ends up low key brilliant. If you put yourself in the frame of mind that this story is being told to you by a little kid you happen to bump into over the years, it seems to makes more sense. The story scope is small and the conflict remains mostly localized to a few characters, until a flash of chaos spills in to world building and plays out as a wild fantasy of a child.

I just spent the last week watching the whole show start to finish. It is really solid, just really easy watching TV but it lacks an over arching plot that feels planned or built up to and I agree that there is perhaps too many episodes that don't really server in developing a character or overall story. The finale to me felt rushed like they had too much to try and tie together but all in all I'd give it a solid 8/10 for he dynamic of Finn and Jake alone. Also I think the BMO adventure is worth a watch but the PB and Marceline one is weak but that might just be because I don't like the inconsistencies in PBs character and how she feels like the only character that never really grew or changed over the the shows span.

Finally someone said what I've been thinking for years! The change of story telling is just so big is unnerving. "Oh but the show just evolved you can't just expect for it to be the same forever" Regular show did an amazing job at sticking to a certain theme. Adventure time went from focusing on wacky adventures to life drama.
"But you see, LIFE is the biggest adventure of them all" I don't need to know that, I have my own life to experience that, I can get other shows to tell me that, but when people change something I used to love and turn it into something unrecognizable while calling it the same show is just crossing the line. I wouldn't mind this changes if they changed it to Adventure time: [INSERT A SUBTITLE HERE] Like Naruto Shippuden or Teen titans go, something for me to know that I'm not watching the same show as before. But no they tried to pretend it was the same show, and it wasn't, it just wasn't.

I think more accurately to say that Adventure Time took some questionable, but sometimes good plotting in season 6, got good with Season 7 again before going into the shadows with a mix of ok to some decent concepts for seasons 8-10 before ending in a mixed, but memorable finale with heartwarming fulfillment with some bittersweet undertones. It’s not that it became too lackluster, it just decided to humbly end on its own terms while giving other shows the spotlight since it served its purpose in making those shows a possibility with the game changer that Adventure Time really was to the animation media.

I don't think it ever really had a fall, I just think its viewers got older. Islands got me back into the show for about another week. I forgot how happy the show made me and even after the years I stopped watching it still felt like I knew the characters so well. They felt like old friends to me. Watching the Island miniseries was the first time I have seen adventure time in years.
And yet by the end of it, it made me cry.
It reminded me a lot of the deep connection I have with my mom and all the memories I had growing up.
I think that's the magic of the show, even at it's low points.
It can still bring out a childlike sense of cheeriness.
While at it's very best it can reach down and hit you hard.
Even though I may have preferred Regular Show more.
Adventure Time will always hold a special place in my heart.
It was the last cartoon I truly grew up with before becoming an adult. (I was around 14 when the show first aired.)
Seeing how Finn has grown up as well is kinda poetic I guess lol.
I'll never forget seeing the ending to Holly Jolly Secrets for the first time.
It truly was one of a kind and opened the gates for this generation of animation.
Farewell Adventure Time, there'll never be another like you.

Season 6 is definitely the show's worst season. During this era, the show tried way hard to be philosophical and deep. It kinda came off as pretentious. Many of the episodes lack any real substance on surface level. Sure having an underlying meaning can add to an episode and can be neat. However, the episode needs to also have an actually interesting story otherwise it's just a bunch of fluff no matter if it has some "underlying symbolism". There were also a lot of episodes focusing on obscure side characters which I don't really care for. However, the show has really improved in the last 3 seasons.

I strongly disagree with the idea that season 6 was the worst part of Adventure Time. It had a few of the show's weakest episodes, but it also had plenty that I would rank among my favorites, including Wake Up/Escape from the Citadel, Evergreen, Is That You?, You Forgot Your Floaties, and Graybles 1000+. I also really enjoy the headier philosophical episodes like Astral Plane, The Mountain, and even the often maligned Breezy. If often took more than one viewing for me to understand what some of these episodes were trying to say, that made it more interesting to revisit and dissect them.

I felt like Season 6 was the point the show went downhill, and I kind of stopped paying attention to it until towards the very end, mostly because Cartoon Network kind of stopped airing it frequently in favor of Teen Titans Go, and that was around the point I stopped really watching television in general. At least it had a good ending in my opinion, rather than something underwhelming.

Lemongrab and the mountain of Matthew is a well handled rumination on suicidal thoughts.

This is how I'd rank the seasons
    Season 1: 10/10
    Season 2: 10/10
    Season 3: 10/10
    Season 4: 9.5/10
    Season 5 Part 1: 9/10
    Season 5 Part 2: 6/10
    Season 6: 5/10
    Season 7: 8/10
    Season 8: 9.9/10
    Season 9: 9.9/10
    Season 10: Haven't Watched
Honestly, I think the show stopped being good in the 2nd half of season 5, and season 6 was even worse. I only really enjoyed 3 episodes from season 6, but luckily season 7 improved, but still not on par with the first 3 seasons, then season 8 came around, and WOW, the show greatly improved in season 8, being on par with the first 3 seasons, and season 9 was also as good as season 8. I still have yet to watch season 10.

Season 1 and 2 are literally garbage compared to 4 and 5. Not that they don't have their moments. And the second half of season 5 is where episodes like lemonhope, Betty, we fixed a truck, be more, the vault, and root beer guy are. Aka the best episodes of season 5. And season 6 is better than them all!
