I was very privileged to catch these girls live in a tiny tiny club in London two nights ago. They are the best live act I've seen in a very long time. So many bands can sound great in the studio but a bit all over the place live. In a grimy little basement, they played with every bit as much precision, detail, groove, and beautiful harmony as is on show here, but with even more energy and joy. Simply awesome.
Basement shows are the most rewarding to play
Wish I had seen that; sounds superb.
Can wholeheartedly agree. Saw them in Nuremberg in a venue with maybe 50 guests, only 10 of which where fans (or even knew the band). Still, one of the best live events I’ve ever been to.
I saw em in Houston Tx on that tour. Still one of the best shows I’ve never seen! Music is so great live!
was this Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen? if so that was a legendary gig, energy was too mad
This was recommended by 5 albums to expand your taste in music. Best recommendation I've followed in awhile. I'm going to go through their old albums on spotify this weekend.
Oh glad to see more people appreciating this band. If you find yourself nearly as enamoured with the sound as I was I'd recommend a Math Rock binge, namely Toe, Elephant Gym, TTNG, Delta Sleep, and covet.
Thanks to this band, I started getting interested in Math Rock. Cool and yet such an underrated genre...
@@BirdUpFR uchu conbini has some great stuff as well
Same reason I’m here 🤣
@@BirdUpFR Thanks for the rec unfortunately, the sound for desktop stopped working not long after I commented and I can't figure out why :( Hopefully your bands are on spotify and I can play 'em somewhere else.
Top-notch math rock with that unique Japanese flavour. I don't know why but most Japanese bands have this avant-garde tinge to their sound to me.
i've wondered the same thing and i think it has to do with the popularity of jazz in japan. american rock bands draw mostly from the rhythm and blues or country and western/folk songwriting tradition, while i think a lot of these japanese musicians probably get exposure to and training in improvisational, avant garde jazz coming up.
that's just my hypothesis as an extreeeeme outsider to the culture, though.
I know this is an old comment but, if you like their sound, you should try listening to Ling Tosite Sigure
Yes, I do listen to Ling Tosite Sigure as well! :-) I also really like what TK has done solo.
I think it has a lot more to do with what the traditional music of your region sounds like.
It's why we see a lot of melodic metal come from northern Europe, old european folk music is catchy as fuck and that's reflected in modern musicians.
Old Japanese folk music gets pretty fucking weird, I don't think it's a coincidence that modern Japanese music is full of odd melodies that sound completely natural.
If you're a fan of Japanese math rock give the band Toe a try. They're also very solid.
I don’t know what she’s saying, but it’s fire
respect for this 5/4 and changing to 3/4 :D
Oh i tried playing this song n it's more fucked than that it changes from 6/8 to 15/16 to 4/4 to 4/8 to 7/8 to 6/8 to 4/4 to 3/4 to 15/16 to 6/8 to 4/4 to 5/4 n gahhh

The way the "Tricot Pool" title appeared at the beginning makes reference to 6/4 timing
My new favorite band. These gals and guy rock! I'm actually glad I don't understand Japanese, this affects me a pure music.
Had the pleasure of seeing them last night for the first ever show in the USA in my home city of Philly. They were without a doubt one of the most passionate live acts I've ever seen, this coming from someone who's a huge fan of Enter Shikari and The Chariot. They went absolutely nuts. The crowed was going insane, moshing, crowed surfing, stage diving. I managed to get two highfives from the band, the perks of being right up front. Last night's show is easily on of the top three shows I've ever been to.
Yea I love shikari but these girls might be more more passionate
are you kidding me?? I could have gone to see them ;________;
Zachary Murray ik this is 2 years old but I just saw them for the first time a few days ago and honestly they were amazing. They were the opening band for Chons tour and honestly I’ve never seen a better opening act than them. Definitely put their energy into their music
lain pp = based , it's science
holly_holly1002 5年くらい聴いてる(๑・̑◡・̑๑)

Saw them perform this as an encore last week in Tokyo. Absolutely killer show and this song was definitely chills from beginning to end. This song is just raw energy especially live.
This band combines almost everything i love on this planet.
thomas Dantonel Indie rock and Japanese women?
+ KirkJohnson34 Can't go wrong with that combo :)
+KirkJohnson34 yup
even though i have no idea what they're saying, her strong vocals always brings me up, as if she's crying along with me.
really appreciate this band ✌❤
This song is still as good as the first time I hear it.
I really liked the ending where the guitars were switching from one side of the headphones to the other, I don't know why but it got an emotional reaction from me. It felt beautiful and it contrasted well with the rest of the song. At least that's what I think. I'm no music expert.
it's called panning and it's pretty coooool
something of a "call and response" thing as well
saw them live last night... seeing ikkyu in person almost gave me a heart attack
gente eu não entendi kkk
First song I heard by them. Really happy I got to see them in Seattle last year and hope they come back soon.
this song is just amazing! been on loop forever!
So sick. I can't wait to watch these ladies open for Chon this summer!
Another amazing song from them , im very stoked for the full lenght.
the ending starting a little after 3:33, when the drums kick off and the melody descends, is the part i keep returning to
These girls freaking rock. Plain and simple
simple not sure, freaking rock for sure
Drumming is incredible!!!!
This song gets stuck in my head for days
This is just genuinely a great song.
Was browsing some audio trees and saw tricot's performance and was pretty blown away so, here I am now just binging the content
The time signature switch ups are insane
love the band, love the song, love the video. great representation of how it must feel to play a show in todays times.
fell in love with the vocalist
always so amazing!
just discovered tricot today, and found the void in my heart left by the breakup of school food punishment has stirred again. this band is incredible and i am beaming
beautiful
I saw them live 8 years ago in SF, still such a memorable show. We went crazy when they played this song.

Listening from California, this song is amazing! You guys are very talented!
fantastic! kinda funky, too!
Beautiful song!!
Im so happy I discovered this.
Just discovered them last night. I love music that's not just 4/4 time. Winning
if you like diverse tempos check out Buke and Gase :)
EBlake You would probably like progressive rock, jazz fusion, and progressive metal
EBlake if you can find a band called Sympathy Orchestra from Adelaide Australia thay are cool - will look for a track
Barry Coad yes I love tricot
4/4 has gotten to boring, these time signatures have more rhythmic freedom than 4/4
amazing music amazing video concept they're too good

New album?! Aw yea can't wait

They're superbly good:).
Pretty song
probably the all-time best rock song
one of the greatest pieces of music i have heard, this is just everything i want in music, that drumming, that voice, that everything! spot on!
that intro though. awesome use of odd time signatures
So good *.* !
This song makes me feel nostalgic too. The first time I ever heard it, I shed a tear feeling like I just met a friend I always known. My absolute favorite Japanese band, there's not a close second.
wow I love it :)
so good
I LOVE TRICOT
Ive always listened to number girl growing up so it was no surprise to find out number girl was one of the bands that inspired tricot. The melodies sound so similar
COOL
One thing that people don't realize that makes this even more impressive is that pursuing a career in music in Japan is very frowned upon. Not just that but the fact that they chose one of the most obscure genres of rock to pursue is even more gutsy. Absolutely brilliant band!!!!
Which is ironic given those circumstances; over the last 3 or 4 years of my research in modern japanese music, I've come to a conclusion that japanese indie groups and other music artists (that are less known than your typical idol singers etc) produce some of the most interesting and creative work which I've yet to find over here in Europe. I mean everybody loves music over here and being a musician is considered admirable, but there's so much of the over-saturated techno-inspired crap that you hear on youtube and on the radio here, that it makes me lose my interest in the stuff that's being produced here.
Funny how things that are usually looked down upon sometimes come out with better results :)
That's not true at all, Japan has a very, very strong music industry. Rock has always been big, arguably much bigger than what the west has been since the late '00s. Styles like Visual Kei and Math Rock are pretty dominant.
Do you enjoy spreading misinformation?
So glad I found them, now I can go see them here in the states in October, just down the street =D
pretty good
Won’t ever forget seeing them live in SF, they were amazing and the whole crowd was going crazy
