I destroyed my new TSC Country line subsoiler! 😫

  • I put the new TSC, country line, subsoiler, tractor attachment to the test. I used a John Deere 5085e tractor with a 3 point subsoiler and It failed big time. Watch as I rip several lines in field until it collapses the frame. This single shank subsoiler ripper is no match for Kentucky red clay. Trying to break up the hard pan after 50 years has proven to be expensive and tough. But we will prevail. #subsoil #pasture #homestead #tsc

That's way too much HP for a cat-1 light duty ripper. You need to upgrade to a real ripper w/enough shanks to match your HP. You got some serious hardpan there dude.

The way it was setup with the center arm being so short was causing the actual point to be pulled through the ground face first. 🤣 No wonder it was too much for it. It wasn't being used right. Lord have mercy brother. Don't blame the quality on that one. That was all you.

I destroyed one also. CAT 1 40hp. I just destroyed all the angle iron crap used to hold it together. The actual big ass beefy bar is still good enough so I'm going to weld it to a QA plate. Might end up paying my dumbass tax, but we'll see.

Would it help if a "skid plate" was placed just below the cross bar to keep built up ground from pushing against it ? What would happen if a cutting bevel was placed along whole vertical leading edge of ripper ?

It wouldn't be a bad idea to try to exchange your sub soiler and reinforce a straight sub soiler. And if you put a shear pin at the top and it shears the top of the sub soiler will go forward and hit your tractor.
Just a few things for you to think about. Not telling you what to do.
    Nice tractor and good luck.

TSC junk for what you are doing. I tried one of those and it lasted one pass in my hard red clay pan with a 73 HP tractor. I got a serious one shank subsoiler from Titan attachments that is way more substantial than that toy. I've had to use grade 8 as shear bolts to keep it going since the regular bolts pop like popcorn. The Titan unit was more expensive, but I'm still using it versus returning the TSC unit.

Look at a Bison ripper! You can get 1 to 3 shanks and its built a lot heavier. Plus the shanks are completely removable , so you can pull 1, 2 or all 3 shanks.

Ended up snapping off the shank all together.
Bought two more and broke them too!
      All in one day!

@@kentuckyrenaissanceman3796 I'll warn you they're kinda pricey but your 5085E wouldn't tear it up. It would just bring the tractor to a stop!

I wouldn't bother, I'd build a new one from scratch. 1" plate, clevis attachment on the bottom. I would also build it for cat 2 tph. The plate would continue all the way up and would have the top link attachment there. That thing is built for compact and sub-compact tractors. I'm surprised it made it that long. Look up the one Cotontop3 built a few years ago for his 5075E.

What category implement was the ripper, looks light for a 85hp tractor

    • @kentuckyrenaissanceman3796
      @kentuckyrenaissanceman3796  Год назад +2

      It’s a #2
But it definitely not made for 85hp
Maybe 40hp all it can take, but then hard to imagine that a 40 could pull it in any ground for power or traction since the 85 struggles in some conditions
