Probably, the Sunderland plant is often viewed as one the most productive and automated in Europe. Although, I wonder if Renault will take ownership of the Sunderland plant with the surrounding tech company expertise (robotics, software etc.) as part of the Nissan sale terms.

Japanese carmakers are losing massively in market share to Chinese automakers in all foreign markets. Nissan is not saveable in any market but its home market and the U.S.
Nissan REALLY needs to merge with: Mazda, Subaru, Mitsubishi and Isuzu, ASAP, and focus on a limited lineup of cars: small hatchback, small sedan, mid-sized sedan, small SUV, large SUV and small truck, under 1 brand and work like hell to eliminate waste. Japan should really only have 3 automakers: Toyota, Honda and the combined automakers brand, otherwise, there's virtually no chance of survival against Chinese brands. The same should go with EU brands, they need to combine to only 3, VW, Stellantis, combined BMW/Mercedes, and focus on the same vehicles, and the U.S., only GM, Ford, Tesla and combined Lucid/Rivian.
Who partners up with who is pretty pointless if you are still making cars that no one wants to buy. Here in the UK October EV sales were up 25% and everything else was down. Pure battery electric vehicles out sell diesel by over 3 to one in the UK but still the news channels say “no one wants EVs” I wonder who’s paying their bills?
When I was a kid, news programs would have relevant videos. I never would have imagined that news programs in the future would consist of irrelevant rapidly cycled videos inserted automatically by a computer program.
Is kinda funny how Nissan was in this Position before, they hired Carlos Goshn to wrangle them out of the position. They got rid of Goshn, and now they face the same problem again.
This is a bit harsh but if Nissan is really that close to bankruptcy or acquisition, that's really sad. They were a great auto company once upon a time, and (IMHO) still make some great vehicles. The Rogue crossover is one of the top vehicles in its class in the U.S. I don't understand why they don't release the EV-generator version in the U.S.; it might sell pretty well. We have a Leaf that's a really nice, affordable little EV and we love it. Anyway, I hope they pull through this, one way or the other. Probably will have to partner with another big auto maker to survive.
The problem with Chinese EV,s , in China they are breaking down and only lasting a few years, various electrical problems are making them too expensive to repair.
Carlos Ghosn must be chuckling to himself. The company has gone downhill since he was fired although I am not sure he could have 'saved' the company twice.
Sandy Munro said incumbent manufacturers are doomed some time ago. It's happening. Looking for a new car after my model x is due back off lease. My local Nissan franchise doesn't have a Aria to test drive, and said they are unlikely to get one any time soon!

Lousy management at your local Nissan representative gave you the earlier Murano problem which they should be obligated to resolve ... Bad decision call n weak leadership engine lead by to be this attitude n corporate culture
Nissin (the way Sam pronounces it) makes instant noodles. Nissan makes cars. It’s like the difference between the word ‘yawn’ and ‘lawn’. Maybe subtle but a huge difference in meaning. 🤦
And....collapsing resale value of used EV's...😢
....and insurance companies don't want to cover ....used EV's 😮
😊
It may be worth buying out the Nissan GT-R model. The GT-R is an iconic sports car renowned for its advanced technology and high performance. It has a dedicated global fan base and represents Nissan's engineering excellence in the sports car segment.
And how many people can afford one of those? Then the rest of their range is dull as a wet sock, terrible cvt, ugly cars (duke).
Thanks for the video. One thing to add, Japan's debt is owned >90% by Japanese rich families. In other words, Japanese own Japan, just not their government ;).
Id be sad to see Nissan go under - my friend owns a local garage and he said so many people cant afford to change their cars due to the cost of living and are hanging on them longer
No, they don't rebadge BYD.
For Nissan, the partner in joint-venture is Dongfeng.
For Honda, the partners in joint-ventures are GAC and Dongfeng.
Renault has a part in this also...
Kind of sad seeing It was a 80s Nissan Maxima later a Pulsar that got me through HS and college. Inexpensive, 100% reliable. Just add gas and go. I remember forgetting the last time I filled up or even changed oil. Just drive.
THIS JUST IN CARLOS IS BACK!
Ive a great fondness for nissans i own civilians , terranos safaris ,just reliable simple and honest and repairable back in the day
The car manufactures need to tell governments that the EV deadlines aren't sensible. In fact I'm surprised it's taken so long to figure it out.
'Name' is all some companies have: MG, Jaguar, Volvo, come to mind. 'Nissan' doesn't seem to even have that cachet. Maybe revive the 'Datsun.'
Sad to see them in this situation. My first car was a Datsun , simple car pour fuel and run.
Great fleet cars… I own about 20 Nissan. Low maintenance, reliable, issues are predictable and not difficult to solve with the right technician.
I hope that Nissan UK can survive.
Probably, the Sunderland plant is often viewed as one the most productive and automated in Europe. Although, I wonder if Renault will take ownership of the Sunderland plant with the surrounding tech company expertise (robotics, software etc.) as part of the Nissan sale terms.
The brand, the badge, like MG is worth something, NISSAN has/had a reasonably good reputation and maybe a manufacturing plant to get around import taxes in the EU or US.
It's not just Nissan, all the auto manufacturers... But they still don't realize that their prices are what's causing the decline. They need cheaper profitable and competitive products. $50k for a Rouge is ridiculous.
The perks of building 'ghost cities' each with tens of thousands of apartment units is that now people can move into them. And they have. Now, perhaps, the media will stop making fun of them.
My first car was a Nissan Sentra. Really sad to see them devolve over the past 20 years.
Japanese carmakers are losing massively in market share to Chinese automakers in all foreign markets. Nissan is not saveable in any market but its home market and the U.S.
Toyota is in exactly the same position. And they have their own problems with recalls swarf in engines, gearbox blowing up, et cetera.
Race to the bottom... how sad for mankind
How does Nissan get into an employees house to do this? B&E in Japan is legal?
Good idea. Like MG buy the brand and use BYD as the tech under the hood.
The Datsun 1500C was a great little car.
+1 for the use of the word “shambolic”!
After the Ghosn Saga, I doubt anyone would dare to turn that ship around.....
Kodak moments 😢😢
Things always go to shit when you make more than you can sell lol
Let's sell vehicles for prices people can't afford...Good idea 👍
Why would those companies want to merge with dead weight? Just let them go bankrupt
Not so successful for British Leyland and now Stellantis, combining several poorly performing companies together just hastens the end.
LOL No way Nissan would merge with Mazda - who are part owned by arch rival Toyota. Likewise Subaru.
Mazda is the best of them. Zoom zoom! Except their EVs suck.
Starmer and Milliband will be happy if the factory in the UK closes?🤨
When I was a kid, news programs would have relevant videos. I never would have imagined that news programs in the future would consist of irrelevant rapidly cycled videos inserted automatically by a computer program.
My little k11 Micra keeps trucking along happily. Maybe go back to building cars like that Nissan?
Mine too!
The world should carefully watch what is happening to car factories, not to allow deliberate dismantling of brand car factories
Their luke warm, half hearted efforts at EVs doomed it. It's a shame, because I've had their cars, and they've been amazing.
Any money wasted EV,s just makes the problem worse.
Nissan have technology that Honda needs.
Issa. Need to go back to petrol and diesel vehicles and the old school patrol 4wd, true off roaders.
I agree, junk CVT transmissions, I liked early Nissan's, owned a few of them
Is kinda funny how Nissan was in this Position before, they hired Carlos Goshn to wrangle them out of the position.
They got rid of Goshn, and now they face the same problem again.
They should have released the Qashqai as an ev.its a very popular small crossover
Nissan had 25 years of borrowed time. They were in the same situation in 1999.
NISSAN NEEDS TO DIVERSIFY MORE, LIKE HONDA WHO BEDIDES MSKING CARS, MAKES ALOT OF OTHER THINGS EVEN MOTORISED GENERATORS BUT NOW MAYBE IT'S TOO LATE
All that head start the leaf gave them talk about dropping the ball
Nissan's problem is making cars that few people want to buy ! Not too tricky to fathom !
They make great hybrids, they just don’t release it in North America. Look at Nissan e-power
Sandy Munro said incumbent manufacturers are doomed some time ago. It's happening. Looking for a new car after my model x is due back off lease. My local Nissan franchise doesn't have a Aria to test drive, and said they are unlikely to get one any time soon!
Desperate times for car manufacturers. Nissan and Renault had actually adopted and embraced EV tech too. Governments are to blame and there will be a reckoning.
Going in with renault was a death move..
BYD also has massive amounts of debt
That story comes from an anti China channel, that sometimes it is incorrect. I think he debunked it in another video.
And the ten showroom fires in China.
I like Chinese EVs, but I personally really wouldn’t want to buy from BYD.
@faheemabbas3965
BYD is the best selling ev here in Asean. Never heard of the company till 2 years ago when their evs started appearing on our roads. Fire? None so far.
They also have massive amount of cash flow and a capital equity and reserves of about 21 billion dollars along Sept 2024. Pretty sure they can service their debt obligations without problem. They estimate their total sales for this year should reach 4 million.
Stelantis needs to buy them😂
Carlos : come back? No thanks. You're on your own.
Btw, in an interview in Lebanon, he pronounced his name as Carlos Gosen, not Carlos Gon.
I think a lot of experts in this field remember auite well what happened to Carlos Goshn
