- Visiting the market in Portugal for the first time - This video explores my experience shopping at the market in Portugal for the first time: Mercado de Arrios. I find that the main advantages are that the produce, poultry and fish available are organic and super fresh! It is a great way to meet other locals and to hear their stories. The prices compared to the supermarkets does not have a huge difference, but is still worth visiting while grocery shopping here in Portugal. The spinach and plantain I bought came up to 3.50euros and the chicken I bought ( 1/2 kilo) came up to 3euros. I also bought half a kilo of sweet peppers for 1.50euro along with 1/2 a kilo of sweet potato for about the same price.
