Weird my 14 pro max has had no issues at all. I will say my 13 pro max had way better battery life. Always on display is turned off as well. I get about 15 hours battery 🪫
At times it gets super laggy for a few seconds. And the maximum brightness is much lower than the iphone x plus from my mom. Battery life could be better too. My 20w adapter is charging my iphone super hot as well
I feel like the best time to buy the new iPhone is in the spring. You get a new colour option and iOS has had time to improve by then. Also you can get delivery next day.
Yes it’s scary. I rarely had this problem with my other iPhone and as my phone is my daily driver to access the internet and solve problems. I can’t do much until an Apple engineer at Apple Store fixed it for me. And kindly chuckled and said oh well yes I heard many complains of ios16 and I’m like darn

iOS 16.0.2 has fixed some of the issues you mentioned. Camera flickering on third party apps, black screen on setup, copy and paste issue. This update came out around 12 hours ago
This is why I never rush to get the new models. When I finally decide to upgrade I like to wait at least 1 month after release so I wouldn’t have to deal with all the issues
Don't listen or watch these drama for clicks videos. I've had my 14 Pro Max since launch day and even though I'm running iOS 16.1 beta software, I haven't had these issues with my phone. There will always be some issues with some tech when it launches, but you don't hear from the people whose tech is working properly. Which is usually 99.9% of owners.
I think you make one of the best critical points of the Pro phone than most of the RUclipsrs, who tend to praise the phone and not be critical of the some of the shortcomings of the phone. The Island covers more screen than the old notch when watching a full screen video/image, coupled with the users saying that Pro Max has less battery life than 13 Pro Max, makes me re-consider my order for 14 Pro Max.

14 pro max has better battery life and performance, even with the always on display mode, it was just the ios 16 that was causing that iphone 14 pro max issue, now its fixed
My 14 Pro max battery life is incredible, I have AOD on as well as haptic keyboard and easily get through the day, finishing with about 50%. And that’s with 8 to 9 hours screen in time. Only issue I have experienced is the low volume on Car play, callers say they can hardly hear me. Overall loving the 14 Pro Max experience
I am currently @ 9 Hrs and 17m screen on time and battery is at 45%. 14 Pro Max I stream RUclips vids in the background while I work. My 13 Pro Max would be around 20% right now but it was a year old. Battery was draining slightly faster than expected for about 3-4 days after moving to it but it’s all good now.

My partner and I got 14 Pro Max 256gb iPhones on launch day and they both “bricked” when transferring from our older iPhones. I got them to work again by holding the power button. The set up continued from the stage before the black screen. I also had the camera noises when scanning my ID for a banking app directly after configuring the phone. I thought the permissions pop up when copying and pasting was odd.
Why is no one talking about how the dynamic island shows up in screen recordings on the iPhone 14 Pro Max i thought it was software couldnt they remove it like the previous models with bigger notches ??
I had severe camera issues with mine, you should open it just to make sure it’s not a faulty unit so you can return it and wait for a new retail unit. The issues persisted in the apple camera app preinstalled with iPhone.
most if any of those are software issues, and most of it is already fixed on the public beta ... i didn't encounter those bugs, battery life on mines are really amazing and higher than the 13 PM i got , specially if i left it all day idle next to one of the 14 PM i have , the 13 PM will loose way more battery despite not having the AoD... the issue i got was the copy paste , but it's been fixed since a few days on public beta.. no biggies...
I set up my iPhone 14 Pro last night (upgraded from the Xs) and I didn’t experience black screen. The phone did restart I think one or two times but that was not a problem. I’m also okay with the always- on display. It’s not bright or distracting at night in my bedside table. I’m getting copy issue but no other significant issues so far. I need to test the camera.
Your phone restarting for itself 1-2 times in less than 1 day is definitely something that you should be not ok with. The fact that you said that you’re ok with that is concerning. The fanboyism is real 😕

The only issue I had with my 14 was UPS refused to deliver it. When I went to the UPS customer center to pick it up I saw 10+ identical boxes on the shelf.

eSim on a phone is literally the worst thing ever. Try roaming with eSim to a provider that doesn't support it. Try moving to an area where the only provider in the area doesn't support eSim.
I don't think it's useless or useful. It's just there like any notch would be. They just made it interactive and not a static blemish on the screen. Brilliant if you ask me. I can also imagine that it will have more uses as time goes on. We all know that the iPhone 15 is going to have the dynamic island 2.
The IPhone 14 was a major upgrade for apple so they will most likely keep this design for the IPhone 15 aswell, like the 3 and 2 camera design has been in the past few models. The IPhone 15 will be no different than the 14, maybe they'll improve minor things. I'd only recommend upgrading if you have a really old IPhone.

A pain in the ass to upgrade to iPhone 14. Upgrading to iPhone 12 has been so smooth. Had so many issues yesterday with iCloud sync and iMessages (still have this issue: Uploading to iCloud Paused Plug in your device and connect to Wi-Fi). Today, I lost all my playlists in Music on my iPhone. I still have them all on iMac and iPad, but my phone is empty. I don't like my iPhone 14 at $1500 so far.
Just got the iPhone 14 Pro Max (15 minutes ago) and using the "set next to other iPhone" option it now gets your country origin, goes through facial recognition, set up Siri etc, then transfers the sim info to the eSIM and then starts updating to iOS 16.02, reboots and then continues the data transfer.
Their chargers are good. I don’t use it to charge my iPhone but I have the 45W PPS charger (not mentioned in the video) which comes with a nice braided USB-C cable.
The problem with patenting software features is the other team will just argue they use different code and different style. This is why software features are copied easily between brands.
Luckily a lot of this seems to be software related. This is why I always wait for the .1 update before jumping into a new version on ANY software (not just Apple).
My iPhone 11 does the camera shaking thing. I have no idea why It does that. Since the iPhone 14 pro came out I’ve literally felt like I needed it. Don’t think I’ve ever wanted a phone THIS bad lol.
So far battery life has been pretty bad. I’ll make it to the end of the day with 20% if I’m lucky. I’m also having the texting issue where android users and some apple users aren’t getting my messages.
The clipboard issue isn't user friendly but that's security for you. Clipboard can have sensitive data on it. They'd be better served by asking once then clearing the clipboard after that one paste. It's unfortunate this is the world we live in and not all users realize what they are doing.
If I’m actively pasting, it shouldn’t give me that prompt. I’m essentially having to consent to it twice. But if the app is trying to read the clipboard automatically, like some apps do, then yeah that makes sense.
I’ve gone with cheap chargers before and even though they’re smaller and cheaper… we’ll they’re smaller and cheaper because they’re lacking the internals that Apple packs into their quality chargers.
What I find astonishing is that there is nothing surprising about this, iPhones have had MANY serious issues in recent years, all while crazily growing more and more expensive year on year, and yet, people somehow just retain that positive bias. iPhones "just work" and somehow never have issues, apparently... Worth studying. Thanks for reporting these issues... Perhaps that positive bias is retained partly because most other popular RUclips reviewers will say nothing but good things and make sure they stay quiet about stuff like this.
Issues with new electronics of all kinds is very common thats why u wait about a month or so then buy a new electronic device to increase ur chances of avoiding these issues
My 14 Pro Max is doing well so far but the battery life is ok, i know it s battery is slighty smaller than the 13 Pro Max but A16 sould be more efficient than A15 but my 13 Pro Max battery still outperforming my 14 P M , the good thing is they are similar and they are good enough to take us all day long.
Imagine if the 13PM had AOD, a photonic engine, 2000 peak brightness (higher brightness in general) bigger lenses, and better network connection (by far compared to the 13pros). And on top of all that, it carries a smaller battery?!? Good job on the 14pro models.
I'm using Flip 4 for 1 month. I haven't noticed even 1 bug yet, and no apps crashing yet. Why is apple users mock Android? Also, all the Samsung phones come with haptic feedback enabled from 10 years ago. Why did apple have to wait until now?
PSA? The screen scratches pretty easily. I was carrying it around in my pocket and accidentally had my keys in my pocket (I am usually extremely careful to keep keys and anything except the phone and headphones in a different pocket) but it happened and there are now pretty deep scratches in my screen.
I returned mine, because the camera are FAULTY. Which is a shame because I need a phone ASAP. I don’t believe apple when they say it’s a software issue, I didn’t have problems on insta or Snapchat but I had problems with the pre installed camera app. Couldn’t focus, pics were blurry, poor quality pictures, very noise when I took videos it sounded like I was by a loud stream in a dead silent room. These need to be recalled. If I wasnt in urgent need of a new phone I’d wait for the 15’s.
Better to wait Jared for piece of mind. Buy early and you could be buying a mountain of worries. Will be a great phone when these early issues are ironed out.

My iPad 9 that I got on sale from Best Buy for $279 came with a 20w charger, but my $1399 iPhone 14 Pro Max will not have a charger. Doesn’t make sense, but whatever.
My iPhone 14 pro has a major overheating problem. The device gets unbearably hot when streaming online gaming. This is even went on Wi-Fi and after about 10 minutes.
has anybody had screen flickering while typing on ios 16? Only happens when screen is on about 50% brightness or less. I have an iPhone 13. It's not really intense flickering but a really subtle flash almost as if the screen gets a little bit brighter for 0.1 seconds after pressing a key on the keyboard. I can confirm that my 14 Pro Max hit 114.0mbps download speed on 5g in my rural area in Oklahoma. I made the jump to the pro max to replace my 2015 6S+, I'd only broken my screen in July 2022... So, if I get 5 years out of the 14 Pro Max, I'll be content.

The SIM card space not being utilized sounds like it was a decision made late in the design process so they weren’t able to make any adjustments to the main board. Adding a piece of plastic just supports the display without actually changing anything.
Glad it isn’t just me, the CarPlay volume is so low compare to my 12 promax , the other end can barely hear what I’m saying eventho I can hear them clearly

Did you end up with just a black screen? I had a similar issue with iPhone Pro I just hard restart it with volume button and power button
If you are able to reset a device by holding the power button down, then by definition, it is NOT "bricked"

Just got the iPhone 14 Pro Max (15 minutes ago) and using the "set next to other iPhone" option it now gets your country origin, goes through facial recognition, set up Siri etc, then transfers the sim info to the eSIM and then starts updating to iOS 16.02, reboots and then continues the data transfer.

I always buy Spigen tough armour cases for my iPhones, but never tried the chargers!
Their chargers are good. I don’t use it to charge my iPhone but I have the 45W PPS charger (not mentioned in the video) which comes with a nice braided USB-C cable.
I also always get the Spigen screen protectors, they feel higher quality than the cheap Chinese ones and have saved my phone from scratches and cracks
The problem with patenting software features is the other team will just argue they use different code and different style. This is why software features are copied easily between brands.
Luckily a lot of this seems to be software related. This is why I always wait for the .1 update before jumping into a new version on ANY software (not just Apple).
Finally! I was hoping they’d fix the battery indicator. I think Alternative A was the best option.

So far battery life has been pretty bad. I’ll make it to the end of the day with 20% if I’m lucky. I’m also having the texting issue where android users and some apple users aren’t getting my messages.

The clipboard issue isn't user friendly but that's security for you. Clipboard can have sensitive data on it. They'd be better served by asking once then clearing the clipboard after that one paste. It's unfortunate this is the world we live in and not all users realize what they are doing.
If I’m actively pasting, it shouldn’t give me that prompt. I’m essentially having to consent to it twice. But if the app is trying to read the clipboard automatically, like some apps do, then yeah that makes sense.
There is already a notification you can get from copy and pasting from different apps

I’ve gone with cheap chargers before and even though they’re smaller and cheaper… we’ll they’re smaller and cheaper because they’re lacking the internals that Apple packs into their quality chargers.

What I find astonishing is that there is nothing surprising about this, iPhones have had MANY serious issues in recent years, all while crazily growing more and more expensive year on year, and yet, people somehow just retain that positive bias. iPhones "just work" and somehow never have issues, apparently... Worth studying.
Thanks for reporting these issues... Perhaps that positive bias is retained partly because most other popular RUclips reviewers will say nothing but good things and make sure they stay quiet about stuff like this.

My 14 Pro Max is doing well so far but the battery life is ok, i know it s battery is slighty smaller than the 13 Pro Max but A16 sould be more efficient than A15 but my 13 Pro Max battery still outperforming my 14 P M , the good thing is they are similar and they are good enough to take us all day long.

I have better autonomy with A16 on my old Xs MAX.
Imagine if the 13PM had AOD, a photonic engine, 2000 peak brightness (higher brightness in general) bigger lenses, and better network connection (by far compared to the 13pros). And on top of all that, it carries a smaller battery?!? Good job on the 14pro models.

PSA? The screen scratches pretty easily. I was carrying it around in my pocket and accidentally had my keys in my pocket (I am usually extremely careful to keep keys and anything except the phone and headphones in a different pocket) but it happened and there are now pretty deep scratches in my screen.

I returned mine, because the camera are FAULTY. Which is a shame because I need a phone ASAP. I don’t believe apple when they say it’s a software issue, I didn’t have problems on insta or Snapchat but I had problems with the pre installed camera app. Couldn’t focus, pics were blurry, poor quality pictures, very noise when I took videos it sounded like I was by a loud stream in a dead silent room. These need to be recalled. If I wasnt in urgent need of a new phone I’d wait for the 15’s.
Better to wait Jared for piece of mind. Buy early and you could be buying a mountain of worries. Will be a great phone when these early issues are ironed out.

has anybody had screen flickering while typing on ios 16? Only happens when screen is on about 50% brightness or less. I have an iPhone 13. It's not really intense flickering but a really subtle flash almost as if the screen gets a little bit brighter for 0.1 seconds after pressing a key on the keyboard. I'm certain it's not a hardware issue since it started happening immediately after updating to ios 16
My iphone 14 pro max has no options of Video and Cinematic after upgrade to iOS 16.0.3. Update was advised by Apple due to my complaint where Video would not record in the Camera app. The recording won't start upon tapping record button. ATT is replacing it under buyer's remorse

I can confirm that my 14 Pro Max hit 114.0mbps download speed on 5g in my rural area in Oklahoma.
I made the jump to the pro max to replace my 2015 6S+, I'd only broken my screen in July 2022... So, if I get 5 years out of the 14 Pro Max, I'll be content.

I’m so happy I bought the 13 pro max (Alpine Green) had it for about 4 months now. That’s a huge upgrade coming from a iPhone 6 Plus.
The SIM card space not being utilized sounds like it was a decision made late in the design process so they weren’t able to make any adjustments to the main board. Adding a piece of plastic just supports the display without actually changing anything.
Bad showing for a company who has full control over hardware and software. 😂
