What is your best interpretation of the Chosen One Prophecy?
I believe that the Original Trilogy sets up the Solution, while the prequels exist to give us the problem. The Prophecy is a way to tell us what Anakin is doing.

My personal canon is that Anakin is the chosen one, (bringing balance to the force means having equal amount of dark siders and light siders)
After Order 66, there aren't many Jedi left, so the Inquisitors can balance out the Jedi.
Just talking about the OT, there is 2 Jedi and 2 sith, then Obi-Wan died and the Sith had the advantage of 2 to 1. Yoda trained Luke and died, again 2 to 1. When Vader turns, it goes from 2 to 1, and becomes 1 to 0. Luke was left as the only trained force users. I believe that Luke learned to use the dark side from seeing his father, being able to be a light sider and a dark sider

Hey lore star, I doubt you'll see this, but from my understanding the way a Jedi becomes a force ghost is through letting go of everything. I believe this is shown in the clone wars during the Yoda ark. Even qui gon jin wasn't a true force ghost as he was the first, and was only partially detached from everything. I don't know if he was already detached from everything before he died, and that allowed him to be the partial force ghost, or if he let go as he was dying. What do you think?

Ray is the chosen one. The story chronologically goes. Anakin is the chosen one. No wait Luke is the chosen one. Just kidding everybody we’re Disney so it’s actually this princess gray Jedi who’s the chosen one, also gray Jedi are non canon so enjoy that too.

I recently watched Return of the Jedi with my son, and was explaining this to him, but with somewhat different terms. It's about family. Jedi have no family - the closest thing is the order itself. Anakin did - a mother, a wife, a son and a daughter. Luke initially had estranged family, but discovered his father and his sister. He despaired and almost fell to the dark side (donning black and using force choke, violence and threats at Jabba's Palace) when he learned who his father was, but when he learned of his sister he gained more family to fight for, family uncorrupted by the dark side. Anakin fell to save his family and was redeemed to save his family. Family is the most powerful bond there is, even moreso than the Force, and breaks even the bonds of an apprentice enslaved to a master who rules the galaxy with the terrible power of the dark side.

Obi-Wan once stated: "It [the Force] binds the galaxy together." Yoda then states: "its energy surrounds us, binds us." It is then a paradox that the Jedi had become afraid of the notion of being attached or bound to things, which according to their own philosophy, was the natural state of things.

    • @lespectator4962
      @lespectator4962 Год назад +3

The jedi were just fearful of showing partiality to the thing they were attached to, which would be in conflict their goal of living in harmony with the force, which was in everything. You cannot treat everything with equal value if you have a favorite. You would always put that favorite above everything else, like how Anakin chose to turn his back on everything else for Padme which led to his fall.

This arc has anikan refuse his destiny and ultimately never being balance. The light and dark are still at war and each side constantly taking power then falling.

Agree with this so much. I've always found the Old Jedi Order to be misguided and even cult-like; Anakin might have been the catalyst of their demise, but they indirectly destroyed themselves. While good intentioned, they feared attachments so much they took kids from their parents, never to be heard from again, and put them in a bubble with others who also refused attachments. You could leave, but then you lose everything you were brought up to understand and believe in. Any relationships, although distant, would be gone.
It was so extreme, they allowed Anakin's mother to die; a Padawan, as strong as Anakin, having dreams of his mother suffering, and he was ordered to ignore it. Had he been an obedient Padawan, he would have and then never would have discovered his mother had died. But instead, he tries to ignore it, but can't, but then arrives too late to save her. Had the Order done the right thing, they would have had open communications with parents and allowed Anakin to leave to help the rescue parties on Tatooine. She was gone a month; if he had arrived just a little sooner, she would have survived. That's some cold shit, Jedi Order.
On the flip side, Luke's Jedi Order, at least in Legends, is the opposite of this. Luke has a huge support system of family and friends; he gets married, has a son, and other Jedi do the same, unaware--at least for a time--that the Old Order didn't allow such things. Good. Because if you have a strong support system and lose a wife, a mother, a child, a friend, you have others to support you. And Jedi, true Jedi, know their loved ones are just fine, being one with the Force. They do not fear attachments, making them closer to the light than the Old Order.

I think the imbalance in the force was the fact that no one was really listening to what the force willed. The jedi order was full of corruption and were using the force as a political means and the sith are just trying to use the force to extract power. No one was doing what the force wanted which is why jedi exist, they are supposed to listen to the force and use their body as a means for it. Qui-gon knew that and stated it in the movies, and even went against the council.

      How was the Jedi corrupt?

    • @shabadooshabadoo4918
      @shabadooshabadoo4918 2 года назад +31

@@sochioranmyaku Instead of listening to the will of the force they were using it as a political means, a military power basically to enforce their view of the world. Jedi are supposed to basically be monks, but instead they were acting the way generals in an army act or like a military police force. They would in fact actively ignore the will of the force to follow the councils strict codes. Like when Anakin needed Quigon to train him, they say no because they believe the fear in his past will lead him to the darkside, when really they could have just helped him understand his emotions and then he very likely wouldn't have gone to the dark side. Plus his mother wouldn't have died because he was having visions that his mom was in danger and quigon tells him to trust the visions, but obi-wan tells him to mind the present and basically just says their mission comes first. And if you listen to Anakin in the movies he doesn't say it once and obi-wans like "gimme 5 mins", he says he was having the visions for weeks or maybe months I cant remember.
The jedi don't technically need to keep kids from their families or from marriage either, the order just is so paranoid about ending the long period of "no sith" by accidentally converting a jedi to the darkside that they are being far too cautious and overbearing.
The jedi are also arrogant and think they are always right, like when they go and ask the archive lady where such and such planet is, and she says "if its not in our database then it simply does not exist" thats 1) arrogant because shes saying their knowledge of the galaxy is flawless and 2) shes saying their security system is so perfect that no one could ever alter the information in the archive, which we know is false because it was altered.
Also i'm pretty sure the jedi hide sith artifacts under the jedi temple, or something, I remember that being like one of the last things that dooku found out about the jedi before he abandoned them for the reasons i listed and went over to the darkside.
There's at least a few videos that talk about it: ruclips.net/video/UU1mLyUi3mg/видео.html
If you want to watch Star Wars from my point of view then consider Qui-gon the model for what a jedi is supposed to be, and then see how everyone else differs, and note that at one point obi-wan tells him he would be sitting on the council if he followed the councils orders and Qui-gon tells him "you have much to learn". Which to me is him saying "don't listen to the council, listen to the force."
Edit: I also just want to add that we have good evidence that your age doesn't matter, and that your parents being killed on a desert planet doesn't matter when determining a jedis polarization with the force because Luke's story perfectly mimics Anakins and Luke didn't fall to the Dark Side. Or Anakins mimics Lukes depending how you want to look at it. They both walked the same path, but Anakin was told by Yoda he couldn't be trained, and Luke was told by Yoda "who gives a shit, ill train you myself"

@Suda while they had good intentions, they were serving more as soldiers for the Galactic Senate than keepers of the peace. Moreover, the Galactic Republic was actually being ruled by a Sith Lord, and the Clone Wars was really just a very elaborately orchestrated and well-planned-out power coup by Palpatine, so the Jedi were actually unknowingly working for a Sith Lord and doing his bidding. It’s no wonder the galaxy was falling to the Dark. The Jedi were willingly doing the Sith’s work for them and didn’t even know it.

I think you nailed it honestly. The Jedi had become detached and stagnant, as one often does when there is no competition. I think the constant showing of Yoda and Mace in Palpatines office, without a hint of knowing he's the Master Sith, is crucial to the details that the Jedi have absolutely lost their way. Ultimately, it appears that neither the Jedi or the Sith are absolutely correct. Obi-Wan concludes Anakin is lost because only a Sith deals in absolutes, but fails to see that the Jedi also deal in absolutes.
So Anakin was brought upon the Jedi as a chance to correct themselves. They instead failed him and paid the ultimate price. Anakin in turn suffered many decades for the wraith he bestowed upon them, toiling away under true evil until again love floods Anakins heart for Luke. He was not even aware of it since he's never been taught how to love properly, his dark ways convinces him he is only attached to Luke to further his goals of absolute power.
In the end, Anakin finally commits the greatest act of love, self sacrifice. He sacrifices everything for Luke, his power, his delusions and his life. He gives everything for his son and shows Luke the truth; balance. The Jedi believe you should give up all worldly attachments and emotion, the Sith you should give up everything for yourself. Neither provide a choice, Balance is choice. Choice to be selfless and still love someone selfishly. Choice to make yourself happy and still serve the greater good. To love individually, but still give yourself to the greater good.

The Chosen One was to "bring balance to the Force by Destroying those who pervert its very nature..." the Jedi took this to mean the Sith, but in truth it meant both the Jedi and the Sith. But I do love your perspective.

They were more corrupt than even the Sith, to the point that they led the Clone Army and tried to assassinate the Legitimate Leader of the Republic. Granted their reason was because he was a powerful Sith Lord, but it didn't change the fact that it was a religious issue. Killing is not what the Jedi do, and they were trying to change the very nature of the Force, by persuading it towards the light, instead of keeping balance. Not even Yoda learned this lesson until after he died.

With destroying the Sith theirs of seeing true love as a weakness and using such love just to manipulate others and also of ruling the galaxy bringing fear to it, died too ... Anakin was part of both and in the End found, that both ways weren't what he actually wanted, both were wrong and he ultimately - with some detours - destroyed them and balanced their existence (in numbers) out: No actual Jedi and no actual Sith anymore, that could pass on their wrong teachings.
I also love the characters of Ezra and Kanan from Rebels in that context they *SPOILERS AHEAD* both sacrifice their lives, saving their loved ones, no matter what, after realizing that this is the only way and giving in to the force while doing so.
And most importantly: They did love, they did form attachments, so the ways of the Jedi were already lost there and their sacrifice, in turn, helped set up many things in motion, so that the ways of the sith could be destroyed soon after - balancing the force as a whole.

And hoping that one day he would understand. And watching two people he cared about die in front of his eyes, it was clear to Kenobi that having attachments was wrong. In his eyes. Hence why he tried to train Luke that way.

I love the way you articulate this.
This follows the legends interpretation of where Luke gets his enormous power from. He repeatedly states throughout the novels, that his connection to the ones he loves, strengthens his connection to the living Force. Without that unconditional love, his connection to the Force would also be conditional, and therefore limited. This is why he viewed both the Jedi and Sith teachings as being incomplete, in their respective understanding of the Force, and how to get the most out of it.
This is also why the sequel trilogy fundamentally breaks cannon. They reinterpret Luke's character, as if he did not actually understand this principle...which completely undermines his entire character, and therefore undermines the entire outcome of the last 6 movies. It basically retcons the entire reason why he was successful in redeeming Vader...and the impact that had on the Force itself. He never would have raised his lightsaber against one of his students, because he would have already known that they were never beyond redemption. Period. Full stop. Especially if that student was his own nephew. This is so out of touch with Luke's character, that to portray him this way, was basically to invalidate everything that motivated him to make the choices he made, in the original trilogy. They may as well have called the sequels a "reimagining"...not a continuation.
As far as the sequels are concerned, no balance was actually achieved in episode 6. They just decided to jump forward to a new set of characters running through the same set of requirements, despite the fact that those requirements were already met...and offered no good explanations as to why all of the original characters had completely changed their core identities. As far as I'm concerned...the sequels are not cannon. They violate so much about what the original story was trying to express, that to consider them true, means the rest of the story has to be false.

He also represents the fear the jedi had of the dark side. Instead of embracing Anakin who was connected to the light and the dark side of the force, they feared him because of his fear for the ones he loved. They said fear lead to the dark side and clouds one's judgment while letting it cloud their own. I agree with it too. The problem with the Jedi (well one of many) is they put rigid adherence to the rules above genuine compassion and unconditional love. I for one, and many people would probably believe that helping your friend and saving your loved one when they needed you most is more important than those rules. Its not selfish, its not of the Dark Side, to do anything you can to help those you love and to prevent a great injustice from happening to them.
That's why Anakin is my favourite character in spite of everything and the terrible mistakes that he made. (I do believe he was genuinely remorseful and repentant for his actions, not just at the end, but throughout his years as Vader, he just could never express it)
Not Obi-Wan, although he's a great guy. Obi Wan was caring, but when it really came to it, he would always put the Jedi Code first even if it meant sacrificing the ones he loved. He could have saved Satine by killing Maul, but he refused, believing it to be a path to the Dark Side, and I honestly believe being made to kill his brother Anakin on Mustafar destroyed him. He chose differently when Maul found him on Tattooine and threatened Luke.

Can we just appreciate the fact that he literally told us to feel free to dislike the video as constructive criticism? Mad respect dude. That deserves a thumbs up from me.
Also, I think that the Jedi misunderstood what balance meant. They assumed that it was the absence of the Sith. The issue is that one cannot exist without light and dark. To be always good is not human nature but to be always bad is not it either. I believe that the chosen one prophecy was to embrace the entirety of the force instead of the dogmatic view of the Jedi and Sith. It is to embrace the entirety of life and to gain wisdom through all aspects of the force. The Jedi should be the people's guide and not just through the teachings of Ashla but also through Bogan.

  • @hciapetus1251
    @hciapetus1251 4 года назад +166

There’s so much I can say about this one topic. I’m gonna have to not include the Sequels during my ramblings though.
Prophecies are tricky as hell. Someone had a vision (or more than one) that a man was going to bring balance to the Force. They didn’t specify when this was going to happen though. They might have given more details about how it was going to happen, but I doubt we’ll ever know.
The Prophecy didn’t happen for a really, really long time though. So throughout the ages, it gets reworded and misinterpreted whenever someone needs to update the scriptures. At some point, both sides (Jedi and Sith) didn’t realize just how wrong they were with what the Prophecy actually meant.
I theorize that Darth Bane had the semi-right idea though (can’t remember if he actually knew or believed the Prophecy though), at least when it came to power and what it would take to defeat the Jedi once and for all. I think he even knew that it wouldn’t be in his lifetime (could be projecting here, it’s been a long time since I read up on Bane). He basically obliterated the current Sith Lords for his plan to work. He knew knowledge and secrecy was the key to ruining the Jedi.
The Rule of Two played an important role to defeating the Jedi; Two Sith Lords having the full knowledge of the dark side and Sith alchemy + magic. Even if a Force sensitive dark side user was born, it was unlikely they’d gain this knowledge without the aid of a Sith Lord, at least until the Apprentice was prepared to kill their Master.
The Jedi eventually failed because they kept racking up the rules in their Order. They became hypocrites and didn’t really allow themselves to be part of the Galaxy and its culture. Sure you could leave the Order without the Jedi feeling betrayed, but their rules were made to be _absolute_ (and we all know how that works out, lol).
The Jedi doubted practically anything that they viewed as “temptation to the dark side” as a strength, like strong emotions, fear, caring attachments, and etc.
Therefore, the Sith became extremists for the dark side, and the Jedi eventually became extremists for the light side. When both sides did this, there was no balance, because the Force is meant to be balanced within the individual. It’s why the Je’daii (Legends) prayed to both Ashla and Bogan.
Enter Anakin Skywalker. He was born out of pure Force when Darth Plagueis and Palpatine meditated to manipulate the Force into a living soul. The Force retaliated though, and move this soul far away from them. The Force placed this soul in Shmi Skywalker because she was a good person; she may not have been Force Sensitive, but she was the light that was needed to bear something created out of the dark.
(That was my interpretation when I read the Plagueis novel)
Basically, Anakin was created from the dark side, but born and partially raised from the light. He was intended to be the Balance from the get-go by the Force itself.
For me, this is why Qui Gon had to die. He was the perfect trainer for Anakin, a Grey Jedi; one who was (almost) balanced enough to be that perfect Force user. Dual of the Fates was symbolic for me (after diving into the Legends and learning), because it was 3 types of Force users battling essentially to be the one who trained Anakin...
    - Maul represented the dark
    - Obi Wan represented the light
    - Qui Gon represented both
Had Qui Gon lived, the Prophecy wouldn’t have happened because both sides needed to be fighting over Anakin. Without Anakin’s struggles, he wouldn’t have been the Chosen One, or least been able to fulfill this need for the Force’s Balance within each individual.
    We can even see Anakin fulfilling parts of the Prophecy before the war was over. Notably with;
    - Padme, his love and reason to continue on the Jedi path.
    - Obi Wan, someone he considered a brother and Obi Wan did care for Anakin in the same way, thus wavering the Force within Obi Wan.
    - Ashoka Tano, his Padawan, who he trained to be balanced with the Force without really realizing it.
    - Palpatine, a mentor figure he wanted to trust and gave him knowledge that maybe the Jedi had become less than what they used to be.
Once the war was over, and Palpatine won, part of the Prophecy was completed; the Jedi were nearly extinct, giving light side users who survived a chance to become balanced on their own. Meanwhile, Palpatine and Darth Vader “evened” out with the dark side and turning some Jedi into dark side Inquisitors.
Then came the Fall of the Empire. Leia “played her part” by being balanced without knowing she was a Force Sensitive individual; she was a force to be reckoned with and used her skills (sometimes lying and killing) for the good cause.
And we have Luke, of course. A late bloomer with the Force, but was able to question Obi Wan and Yoda’s teachings without losing the path to balance, and without disrespecting them. The faith Luke had to bring his father Anakin back from the dark was a key component to aid Vader’s decision and end the Sith “lineage”.
Anakin was the Chosen One. He brought back the balance to the Force, mostly to allow a new age of people to learn from the mistakes made in the past and become better societies to the best of their ability.
Yah, some people are going to fight that, but it’s what Anakin chose to do that allows this freedom of choice. It allows people to fight for their rights and not allow another form of dictatorship. Which the Jedi had become in a way... and the Sith were always (lol).
The Sequels sort of diminished this, but I believe that’s because “some people” just didn’t get what Lucas and Co had created. They were too focused that the fans didn’t really like the Prequels, that they didn’t realize the fans loved the world building and eventually saw what Lucas attempted to do with the Prequels. They just didn’t really listen and tried to make their own thing with Star Wars. If that makes sense.
End of rambling. Prolly got some stuff wrong and definitely made some grammar errors (autocorrect hates me too).

Dragon ClawZ - didn’t get a notice you replied. Can’t really condense cause I that was the best I could do without writing an actual essay, with sources.
If you’ve read some Legends though, that’s where I got most of my ramblings from.
      - Tython and the Je’daii
      - Sith race (not the lords)
      - Nomi Sunrider
      - Revan and Malak, + Bastilla Shan
      - Grey Jedi
      - Darth Bane, Rule of Two
      - Jedi Order timeline, and how they keep adding rules as time goes on
      - Darth Plagueis novel (definitely recommend!)
And just the general idea of Prophecies and how they “work”. The Chosen One was a prophecy that was seen a long ass time ago, and throughout the ages people tend to misinterpret the words; this kind of prophecy is vague and doesn’t add details. It’s why Obi Wan considers Luke to the CO and not Anakin, but it’s not, it’s always been Anakin because the history of the SW Legends universe can show us why.

Going to try and correct some things, but a great post.
First of all, it is stated somewhere that the prophecy also included the fact, that chosen one would be born of the force so that, together with the balance of the force part is what the jedi were going off of to my understanding. Now I don't believe, or do i see evidence to the fact that anyone forgot how the prophecy was meant, or that the jedi shifted in their understanding of it over time. It's more the fact, that they didn't understand what balance in the force meant in the first place (as explained in the video).
Second, in the non-canon book darth plagueis it is unfortunately not properly stated what exactly that shift in the force was that sidious and plagueis caused, but i didn't see any evidence towards the fact, that they tried to create life at that point (the killing and resurrecting of that former-wannabe-Sith-Byss was later in the book) or if they did, it wasn't necessarily them specifically creating anakin and him being "misplaced" by the force, but rather the force deciding that they had gone too far and thus created anakin itself to retaliate. But this is a minor point and could be up for debate.
Lastly, I think the entire theme works surprisingly well within the sequels (although i am not sure how much of that is intended) and it only really gets a little shaky in episode 9 with sidious not actually being dead, which somewhat cheapened anakins struggle (maybe pointing towards the fact, that the end of the sith order wasn't part of "balance" all along, but rather a means to the end of having a balanced force user, aka Luke Skywalker. Although that doesn't make much sense as that would kind of go against the idea of the dark side being a perversion of the force, albeit ever present, that needs to be controled, not left unchecked (there is a great video on that by . aka the guy with the long video about kreia). Maybe ol' palps was in such a terrible state that it actually counted as "under control"). The part where luke had a very short moment of weakness when he tried to kill kylo (mirroring the moment in episode 6 when he was just about to kill vader) and then proceeds to be depressed about it is actually a beautiful representation of the idea that the dark side is ever present and isn't simply "overcome" with one good deed, but needs to be fought and struggled with right until your final breath.
Anyway, sorry for the long response, hope i didn't take too much time out of your day :)

I always saw balance in the force needing to take place on a personal level. Balance in the force can only be achieved when force users find balance in themselves. Both light and darkness blind but through balance you can see clearly. People mention "The One's" but I think they are the example of the force at it's extremes. In my interpretation balance is only achieved when force users are "grey Jedi", which the majority of great force users were in one way or another.

After watching the last season of the clone wars, I think there was a crucial moment where Anakin could've fulfilled the prophecy much sooner, and Ahsoka and Maul were really instrumental to this.. If Anakin hadn't been assigned to Palpatine / if Palpatine hadn't devised the Coruscant siege to distract Anakin and Obi-Wan, both of them could've been on Mandalor together in the moment to meet Ahsoka and Maul and learn of Palpatine's plot to corrupt Anakin, they would've heard Maul's account of his vision that Anakin was the chosen one, and together there's a good chance they all could have defeated Palpatine, albeit with probable casualties/deaths. Even in the trailer for the final season, the trailer builds to a climax where Maul says "every moment has led to this," or something like that. I think both him and Ahsoka, alongside Anakin, had the potential to bring balance to the force in a way that was outside/beyond both jedi and sith ideologies.. which is where both Maul and Ahsoka were headed anyway.
I think Palpatine knew this and therefore kept Anakin closer to him to prevent this outcome- he was a mastermind strategist, after all. And it worked, but ultimately there were counterbalancing elements to his influence on Anakin-- obviously Ahsoka and later Luke were key players in bringing him around and helping guide him to fulfill the prophecy.

Nicely put! I’ve heard the old arguments for either Anakin or Luke being the Chosen one. Together they balanced the force in this universe.

It’s about love. Love for family, love for a person, love for yourself. Love beings balance. Anakin had love for his children and seeing them on the brink of death showed he had love for his son and daughter and he redeemed himself and became balanced in the end. Like Revan, Annie was from both light and dark to heavy to one side and you will be unbalanced. Vader was able to vanquish evil and show the Jedi that love is a path to redemption. Now I can also say that because it’s so hard to control love, as seen through Annie’s life, the Jedi are in a way right to not have Jedi be attached but a Jedi would never be balanced. That’s were the Jedi failed. If the Jedi were to teach a balance of love then a Jedi or anyone could be in balance and that’s were you’d see the prophecy fulfilled. You’re right about Qui-gon, I believe he would have taught Annie how to balance his attachments. My question is was Yoda a balanced Jedi? I would think so as he seemed to be able to address attachments for his peers and his younglings. But could he have been unbalanced and too far leaning to the light and didn’t want Annie or any of the Jedi to love?

The real balance of the force and the message is for fathers to love their sons and for sons to honor their fathers.

Technically speaking Anakin doesn't have a father . He born because of midichilorians. He is not a normal mortal being. He is a celestial ( father , son , daughter " they are born from force" ) So that makes Anakin a celestial too. If he didn't crippled and reach his full potential . He is probably became unstoppable . And there is phrase in the chosen one prophecy about being born fatherless . Luke just a child of celestial being . And have most high potential among all force sensitives because of his father. And even his midichilorians account doesn't come any near Anakin's . And don't forget even parents both strong force sensitives there is possibility to child born to be normal . Example ; Revan and Ballista having non sensitivite child . Revan is the most strong force sensitive in his age and Ballista one of the strong force sensitives . And Anakin's wife (Padme) is a non sensitivite too . But both of the children exceptionally very strong in the force . Because of Anakin is unique . He is the chosen one . Everything Luke can achieve happened because of his father . Even as a Darth Vader he hold back . And eventually save his son from Palpatine. All this years he didn't want to challenge palpatine for power because he didn't really care for power ( for hım it just a tool to project his loved ones , so there is no reason anymore to want to power ) . " he even have change to kill palpatine before but he didn't because there is nothing for hım except empire " But when he learn he has a son he want empire . Not to himself , he wants his son to be emperor . His armor full of error . So he can always fell to pain . Palpatine want it happen like that . So he knows he is dying with the armor . And he just want his son well beign .even influence of dark side . Poor Anakin he is really victim of both light siders and dark siders. Especially light siders try to control hım , don't let him to fulfill his destiny , never trust hım , try to use hım , not keep good eye on him and hold hım back . they are even let him taken by palpatine a politician at that time . Where is the logic in that ? Why you are sending hım influence of palpatine ? Force want revulotion for light side and destruction of dark side Because they are try influence midichilorians and try to create sith'ari .( darth Plaguesis and darth sidious ) So force rebels to this And creates Anakin( chosen one ). But when there is no come back for jedi ( they are do many bad things at the clone wars area, they are don't even knowledge their own rules ( they are go to war as a peace keepers having super secret prison for force sensitives etc.) So force destroy both of them . And luke's order is born . Perfectly balanced and no mistakes as old jedi order .

When there was talk of the sequels, it was my hope that it would begin with Luke already having established a new order of Jedi. Their center being Yavin 4 and coming together to talk of deeds brave and bold (in a sort of futuristic version of Boorman's Excalibur) Luke and Mara, leading the way and THEIR son Ben possibly falling to the dark side or even being the redeemer of Han and Leia's twins who run off to be brash heroes only to be sucked into the dark side through their travels and establishing an order they thought would be welcoming to the one luke created but find out not so much....i don't know. The Jedi, with their damnable sense of over-caution, would tell you love is something to avoid. Thankfully, anyone who's even partially alive knows that's not true. Love doesn't lead to the dark side. Passion can lead to rage and fear, and can be controlled... but passion is not the same thing as love. Controlling your passions while being in love... that's what they should teach you to beware. But love, itself, will save you... not condemn you. Ahhhh, but listen to me go on as if I had all the answers. What do I know of love anymore? I'm just a lonely old man who's not even a Jedi.

"When the kyber that is not kyber shines forth, the time of prophecy will be at hand.
One will ascend to the highest of the Jedi despite the foreboding of those who would serve with him.
Only through sacrifice of many Jedi will the Order cleanse the sin done to the nameless.
The danger of the past is not past, but sleeps in an egg. When the eggs cracks, it will threaten the galaxy entire.
When the Force itself sickens, past and future must split and combine.

If you read Drew Kapyshyns "Revan" it was very possible Revan was the precursor chosen one, he finds balance in the force fighting a Sith Lord who literally used rituals to feed off the living force consuming planets of their living force. He was able to stand against that immense dark power simply using the force in its purest form by focusing on the living force utilizing what he knew from his time as a sith and jedi. As a "grey" jedi rather than one of the light or dark. Due to it being a "new" power he had discovered in that fight he lost and ended up imprisoned. So yes, Revans love for his companions lead him to find this truth that Anakin and Luke discovered in their fight against palpatine.
another character is Mace Windu. Arguably one of the strongest duelist along side obi-wan was the fact that Mace was previously a grey jedi/sith knew the dark side intimately and used that against dark siders in fights channeling the dark side in combat, basically proving force users are strongest when they use the best of what both sides have to offer: Emotions give you strength, but serenity brings you balance. Using both truely does bring you closer to your full potential and balance of the force.

Especially from the perspective of the old republic Jedi, "balance" to them would be light side extremism. The Jedi do need to learn that being someone devoid of emotion isn't the answer. So many of them fell to the dark side and their solution was to keep doing the same thing over and over again. The definition of insanity. Vrook has a quote where he says that he's just gonna double down on the Jedi teachings. They say they want to help people but they have no love for their fellow man. They're not allowed to give a damn about them, and instead they teach their students to do it because it's what's expected. In the new canon it seems like Luke didn't learn anything though.

I’d like to hear the view of a Buddhist Master with regards to the balance between attachment and compassion. Detachment frees one from desire, ultimately liberating one to be compassionate (showing loving kindness) to all sentient beings. Personal attachment to individuals is typically due to a desire that narrows one’s view of the world.
The Jedi Order during the time of Anakin & Luke failed to live up to the Buddhist ‘code.’ Anything they gained through nonattachment to individuals they lost through their attachment to destroying the Sith.
(Just in case some readers might dismiss Buddhism, as an unfamiliar religion, Christianity also adopts a compassionate approach: Matthew 5.43-44 NIV - “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,” The Jedi were more like Knight Templars during the Crusades.)
The point I’d like to make is simply that the Star Wars story is not a good basis for comparing the merits of detachment versus personal attachments.
